Here is another fantastic story from the Quran ( in my opinion ) "God spoke the universe into existance" .

Interestingly there is a story from ancient Babylon that matches this story. It's about Marduk, whose name resembles Marut, who is described as a king-god. Malak (angel) and Malik (king) have the same etymology, so I think the Malaika are not only special beings, they're like generic forces of God, they can be metaphysical, they can be also humans called like that as a sign of respect.

05:40 Dr Shabir you gotta revise the selection of word “Deny” on this particular occasion because angels do not have free will to deny. Only Jin Azazil aka Iblees had free will to Deny The interpretation was angels asked Allah , we are told to pray for humans for the tests they are put in as superior beings then how they are creating such chaos and sinful acts on the earth being so special. Allah The Creator asked them to nominate 3 most pious among them to be put into test. 1 nominee was so scared that he withdrew and 2 were sent to the earth Haroot & Maroot I can understand you are trying to place simplest version of commentary on verses for modern western audience. However selection of words have to be precise since it may divert the civilized audience which are still unaware of no connection of Christians to Halloween or Santa Clause. I hope you understand my message.

I don't get it. Why the doubt? What about this is fantastical? The al-Qur'an spoke clearly about Harut and Marut being sent to Babylon, and that they taught magic to the people, at least one magic, that is how to cause a husband to be separated from his wife, but only through the permission of Allah. Allah SWT can create anything, just by the command "Be!", and whatever it is shall become. So why the doubt about something so small like what two angels did? Are you telling me that these occurrences are enough to shake your faith? If they are, then you really should take a long look at yourself.

This is most fascinating. Corresponding Biblical era is Neo-Babylonians with the famous King Nebuchadnezzar 605-562 BCE and the Prophets were Habakkuk, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Second Isaiah. This was followed Persian Period under King Cyrus who captures Babylon and decrees the return of Jews to Israel. The Study Quran has reference to Harut's and Marut's sinful ways in Babylon. Any sagacious review could perhaps revisit Biblical Prophets particularly of the longest book which is Jeremiah's. Benedetta Rossi gives the latest commentary on Jeremiah on pp 875-940 in The Jerome Biblical Commentary for the Twenty-First Century (t&tclark 2022).

It may seem very hard to objectify the commentaries done by old scholars as per your statement, meanwhile your version being simpler evidently has somehow distorted the whole concept of angels in Islam where you have mentioned the phrase “ Angels deny”

In Quran 23:14, Allah explains the developing stages of the human embryo (fetus, human un-born child) inside the womb: (First) the bones are formed and developed, then (Second) the flesh grows and covers the bones. Quran 23:14 reads, “… Then of that clot we made a lump; then out of that lump (we made) bones and clothed the bones with flesh...” * This is a scientific nonsense - the fetus’s bones do not form first, then later covered by flesh. No embryologist has observed the skeleton of the fetus inside the womb prior to (or before) the flesh starts to grow around the skeleton. Both the bones and the flesh are formed or developed simultaneously (at the same time) - not one after the other. * Here, we can see the perfectly preserved, eternally un-created Quran, the book Muslims turn to for instructions on hatred, terror, and murder, has just put a “Fatwa” (Death Sentence) on every embryologist who refuses to say, “First, the bones of the fetus are formed and developed; and then later, the flesh grows over it.”

Yes, this is classic Quran. It cites a pagan, Jewish, Christian, or in this case, Zoroastrian myth with very little context or explanation, then goes on to state how this proves the wisdom or power of Allah, and leaves the reader thinking, "Huh?"

Compare the Quran' fantastical snippets about Solomon to the Bible's relatively sober and detailed account in 1 Kings 1-11. The Bible does not manipulate history to support its worldview but simply tells it as it is. Despite the tremendous wisdom and power of Solomon, extending the kingdom of Israel to unequaled earthly glory, he was unfaithful to God in seeking so many foreign alliances and women. This points true believers to a greater kingdom, a heavenly kingdom that could only be ushered in by the ultimate Son of David, Jesus the Messiah!

Mzms do make fantastic story tellers. The stories are just plum dumb, but the story telling is off the charts. Not so much Ibn Fibbin footnote as he just keeps making a fool out of himself, but yes, mzms love their stories. I mean...who else has talking ants having regular 2 way conversations , thieving rocks that steal clothes and forgives, books that come to life and talk, flying donkeys to outer space and my personal favorite: a profit who has no prophecies!
