@@CoroBasso You have missed the point. The problem has nothing to do with the lyrics. Having two by definition is having a division, or split not a message of unification. The "black national anthem" uses race as a device as a means of social manipulation and to durther drive a wedge into cultural division in our nation.

@@jeremybear573 You do realize the meaning of a poem is primarily derived from thoughtful contemplation of its words & ideas - not from people's trivialization or distortion of its meaning with jingoism or lazy approximations. Those words were written in 1900 by James Weldon Johnson to commemorate the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, and internally aspires to a faith and hope for a future of equality for us all. It was not written to be a "Black national anthem". Black culture colloquially referred to it that way later in using it for inspiration in our efforts towards civil rights. The Star-Spangled Banner becane the "National Anthem" by Congressional action much later in 1931. I am sure you understand the difference between *the* National Anthem as defined by the government, and a poem that is only referred to as a "national anthem" in a particular cultural context. As I said before, it is mystifying to me that a hymn whose intent & lyrics refer to God - and also the qualities of faith, hope, and liberty - could be regarded as "divisive" based on a misunderstanding about its creation and existence. One was written as a coda to an historic battle for the survival of our country; the other written as an inspiration for that country's march towards justice, equality, and - as you say - unification.

If you want anyone to even consider taking you seriously you should really refrain from using terms like “coastal liberal elites.” Everything else was also ridiculous, but I just wanted to give you a starting point.
