I am looking for a way to make leather garments like jackets and pants more matte - do you think the LK matte could successfully be sprayed and stay on leather clothing too?

I haven’t tried it for leather garments, but I do really love the LK flat and matte options! I feel like it should work well, but def try a small area to double check. Also assuming if your leather garments have a finisher on top you’d have to remove it and then put LK on top. I would def try it! Just prob get a smaller oz bottle in case. But I seriously love their topcoats! Best of luck and if it works (or doesn’t work) I would love to hear!!!

@@HJartistry Wow, amazing, thank you so much for the fast reply. I ordered a bottle of the matte finisher and I will try it on a pair of leather pants which I bought but never wear because I don't like the flashy shine. I hope the matte will bring them to life. I will use an airbrush gun. I am not sure if it's really necessary to remove a preexisting topcoat, if it's in good state, as chemically this coat should bond to literally almost anything like mad. I will let you know how it worked! By the way, just as a side comment: I think you did an excellent job in comparing these three materials, also the stretching test was superb and definitely got some good information out of it (source: I did a PhD in mechanical engineering on the mechanics of rubber-like materials and did a lot of experiments with similar materials and derived mathematical models to simulate and predict their behaviour - so I have some small authority to give this compliment I think ;) )

@@amarug aww thanks! Yes def use an airbrush gun for a clean finish and do a lot of light coats. You are probably right about not needing to remove the topcoat. Oooo awesome!!! Thank you! I wasn’t sure how scientific it was with the stretch test 😂 I should prob redo this whole video and keep it more short and sweet. But I’ll def be keeping the stretch test! Any other advice/etc that you’d like to see in the future etc! Always appreciate feedback 🙏🙏

@@HJartistry Ok that worked magically. I used the "LK topcoat matte finish" and diluted it about in a 1:1 ratio with pure alcohol, so it would not be viscous and put it in my cheap amazon airbrush. It took quite a long time since my 50 buck spray machine is serverely underpowered, but my pants went from a screaming-unwearable shine (for my taste) to a really decent matte, making them wearable to work without causing a stir. Also surface is super nice and water and dirt repellent. The only thing to note is, the pants went from a black to a "very dark gray", whichg I honestly even prefer, but thats just something to keep in mind. However it worked perfectly, I also didnt strip any of the previous topcoats or treat it in any special way. This stuff bonds to the surface like there is no tomorrow, absolutely amazing stuff! 10/10 experience, highly recommended, especially for pants, which tend to be too shiny for guys for "everyday use" (in my opinion) unless you stand on a stage with an e-guitar. 😂😂

Yesss!!! Best topcoat is def LK and best paint is def Angelus. I wish I would have researched this sooner 😂 let me know if there is any other comparisons etc that you would like me to do! I’m all for learning more and def want other customizers to give their clients the best possible shoes/experience!

Nice tutorial, thank you! How ever I used 4-coat, it has turned white. How can I solve this problem? Or what do you think about using 2-thin to dilute it?

Thanks! Did you shake up the 4coat prior to using it? Do you mean it turned white on the shoes? Or just in the bottle?

@@BSHOWHotToysChannel hmmm so I do try to strain all my paints (I haven’t run into this problem) but I am assuming some of the top coat dried inside the bottle and left you with those clumps of debris. I honestly am not sure what to do. As removing the topcoat from the shoes would pull up the design that you painted. If you just did a simple design like a basic color way, I would probably use just a little bit of alcohol on it to remove the topcoat debris. Try a 70 or 90% alcohol to remove the topcoat, then repaint if needed, and then strain the topcoat before applying it to remove any debris. But probably the best advice would be to contact Angelus on what they would recommend. Sorry to hear about the issues 😢

I wasn’t as impressed with 4coat 😭 I def like LK the best. Especially after testing it in comparison. Do you like any other finishers better? Always open to suggestions

@@HJartistry 100% the 4 coat peeled on me with painters tape.. I’ve done customs 3 years now the old og finish angelus has was wayyy better but Now I’m sold on LK

@@freemenlewis2809 aww that’s a bummer. Yeah def try out LK! But I find that airbrushing it is better. Sometimes when I would hand brush it on it would pick up a tad bit of paint (altho it might be because my blue paint was old 😂).

@KasinoKorleon hey sorry to hear that. How did you prep your shoes? Acetone and sandpaper by chance? I usually try to do about 3 coats and then do the finisher 2x.

I def have to go with Angelus for paint and Lk for the topcoat. I did a few tests for the best paint too. I can send you the video link to that if you’d like . I might need to do a few more tests on different material for the best paint. But best topcoat in my findings is def LK!

@@sirmustardofhousemayonnais9907 original Angelus for the top coat? It’s not nearly as good. They reformatted it about a year or 2 ago and it is better, but still no where near the durability of Liquid Kicks. It’s still not bad, just not as good as LK. But I always recommend trying it out yourself so you can see the differences. Angelus def has superior paints, but LK has superior topcoats.
