The genius idea of this film was giving sandler the straight role and nicholson the crazy one. Works a charm. The film im has a mediocre score on rotten tomatoes but believe me it’s comedy gold, superbly acted.
Yes it was nearly 20 years ago, plus even low position jobs in NYC make decent money, also, like myself back then living alone in a big expensive city, nearly half my salary went towards rent. He had a one bedroom apartment. Big deal.
