Actually, Indonesia has alot of fine singers with powerful voice. But they dont have the opportunity to expand to other countries. Im glad Anggun did great in Europe....I feel happy for her ....hanya setakat menumpang gembira... :P
YES! I'm very, very happy! Anggun is such a unique European artist in the sense that she's a personification of exoticism and modernity. There aren't many singers in Europe today that is quite like her. Plus, she will most likely secure a lot of votes from the Indonesian community in Europe - which is not unsubstantial in amount. Plus, her song entry is really catchy in my opinion.

bantu jawab yaa.. jadi gini, beda mas.. kalo mbak anggun kan emang "bahasa ibu" nya bahasa indonesia, orangtuanya dari jawa, mbak anggun menghabiskan masa kecil & masa remajanya di indonesia, sekolahnya juga di sekolah katolik biasa, baru ketika dia masuk usia dewasa awal hijrah ke london & prancis buat meniti karir internasionalnya, jadi ya bahasa indonesianya masih kental & kuat.. beda sama cinta laura, kalo cinta laura kan papanya orang jerman, dia sekolah di jakarta international school yg notabene full english & wajib berkomunikasi dg basa inggris.. dia dari kecil juga sering keluar negeri & ketemu orang² dengan beragam bahasa, karena kesulitan bahasa, akhirnya dia memutuskan untuk pake bahasa inggris, dan bahasa inggris adalah "bahasa ibu" nya cinta laura, jadi yaa wajar kalo cinta laura lebih sering pake basa inggris & logatnya beneran kaya native speaker, bukan karena sok atau apa tapi karena cinta laura dari kecil "bahasa ibu"nya adalah bahasa inggris.. gitu sih.. sementara kalo agnezmo, saya kurang tau banyak ttg dia, tapi kalo gasalah papanya agnezmo itu orang amerika & dia juga punya sodara² di amrik, jadi ya mungkin karena pengaruh itu sih kalo agnezmo... tapi ketiganya sama² berprestasi kok, sama² ber attitude baik & ga pernah bikin sensasi, sama² mengharumkan nama indonesia dg cara mereka sendiri, dan menurut saya mereka bertiga adalah bintang yg bersinar dengan cara mereka sendiri..
Gk ada salah nya kok kita mendukung mereka tanpa menjatuhkan seseorang. Sama sama mengharum kan nama bangsa. Termasuk ketika ada saudara kita yg sukses sebaiknya kita bangga dan suport bukan iri dan dengki.

I don't live in Europe, but I do follow the contest since 2000. I'm a fan of the contest, and I've watched lots of the pre-2000 contests as well. Yes, it has been a "Balkan Festival" lately, but I don't see why that's wrong, really. So you're saying that the results are fixed? Well, I don't know about that, but in my humble opinion, it's all about promotion of the artists long BEFORE the contest itself. Whoever has the best promotion across Europe is the victor.

Yes, quite true. They should have, however, send her to Eurovision when she just began her career in France circa 1997. But to be fair, Anggun, although now a successful professional singer, should still be considered for Eurovision participation, since countries like Sweden and Greece sent Carola and Anna Vissi respectively in recent years, even though they're already major superstars in their respective countries. So I don't see why Anggun is too important for Eurovision.
It's a matter of effort, She's really a someone with a big dream, and she works hard to achieve it, It's arduous to be an Indonesian living in Europe, XD I live in Netherlands, and I'm an Indonesian, and although it's easier here than in France as people speak English fluently here, there's still more effort I need to put than other Indonesians back in Indonesia, But the more effort you put into something, the more you gain eventually,

Some ppl predict Anggun will get big in the US. Sadly to say I don't think so. I don't think she'll make it in the States. One being too many competitions and two being the murky relations between France and Etats Unis. They don't like each other.
I think France should just send her to Eurovision Song Contest if they want a chance in winning...during the past years, representatives from France have been pretty weak...I really think that France would have a big chance of winning if they send Anggun...
