If you was born N raised in the 90z, then you know how much Angie means to the Culture...... Walking Living Legend & I still got a crush on her 😍😍😘😘❤❤💕💕
killing softly I'm talking about her career as a radio personality...... That's why she about to go in the HOF, clearly you ain't watch the interview 😩😖
Mr. Brandon I’m not sure, she probably didn’t think it was good. I noticed every time someone brought it up in the past she’d make a face and get moody and Angela Yee said she didn’t like people talking about it.. It’s probably a cringe part of her life.. I like it tho it reminds me of when I was a kid..
Anyone who grew up in the 90s and early 2000 knows that Angie Martinez is a legend. Not only was she the only female DJ who was respected, Hot 97 was literally the place for hip hop. If they don't conduct her into both of those Hall of fame's, then that is a shame. This woman has put a lot into Hip Hop, and she deserve way more than that.
I love Angie! Grew up listening to her on the radio so she was a big part of my childhood and my love for hip hop. I just read her book over the weekend and it was an excellent read. Very inspirational. Congrats to her on all of her success. She deserves it!
Significance of her career is that she did well without the internet and everything undeneath that(phones, apps, etc). Think about it, all you have is your voice and people tune in. That takes skill.
CusWeAre lol I think it’s because Charlemagne stay sayin stuff like. He of the people not of the industry. He clearly has his favorite people though. Cardi, gunplay, Drake at one point, Kanye, pusha, azalea.
“If I can choose a place to go, it would be far away. From here we could cross over like Hardaway.” Every time I hear of Angie, I think of that line. Lol!
Whenever Angie is talking about radio stuff or interviewing, she always looks at Charlamagne and says “you know how that is” and doesn’t even think about looking Angela Yee’s direction lol
Angie Martinez is a great interview. Its rare that someone who usually interviews other people, is so engaging and interesting when they are the one being interviewed.
He knows what Blackface meant. Being from Canada has nothing to do with it. He had the whole outfit on. I'm sure that there are ethics in drama, history of drama, and race in drama courses that he had to take.
i know this is mad childish but i can never see angie without singing that "suavamente" song with wyclef jean. 😂 🎶 angie martinez, can i get a date on friday? suavamente, just when i thought she'd say yes… 🎶 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
If it was so accepted in 2007; why is Drake the only pic up? Stop the coverup. Black face has never been acceptable but a NON black is suppose to tell us how to feel? Y’all need to stop it. I was about to send that damn text too
Lol. Meanwhile he’s working for “slavery is a choice Kanye” Push ain’t the savior. He’s not “exposing” Drake because he actually cares about the community. Push is a hypocrite.
Thank God someone actually understands the power of speculation and how people will believe anything as truth. It's the one thing that Pusha and mainly Kanye are using as a weapon against Drake to control this narritive. Its genius and working. It's been a year and a half since 2 birds 1 stone, gives kanye and pusha a good amount of time to prepare this.
Maybe Jennifer Lopez could produce Angie Martinez's talk show! Not only as a Latina but also with all her network connections, she would be the perfect person to break her show into the "mainstream" TV market. You know it'll be done right if JLo is behind it...🙌
What might work for radio might not always work for mainstream television. Why i think it has worked for wendy williams is because she has blk/ spanish fans as well as the midwest white soccer mom fans. Angie is a bit to "urban" for network tv. You really need the midwest fans in order to keep high ratings
I hear you @Meredith, however, I still disagree.☺️ I'm sure many didn't expect that Wendy Williams' show would have been as successful as it is, because it was also considered to be too "urban" as well as "messy" - since she is always "spilling the tea" about celebrities. This can be quite risky for a show with a single host that needs guests (unlike a TMZ which is primarily a reporting show, with an occasional guest in most recent years... please correct me if I'm wrong). In addition, although Angie has an urban audience, I don't consider her approach to be a typical "urban" approach. That's what she voiced in this interview. People lump her into a box with all other urban radio hosts and she is in a different lane. She has history with many of the legends and superstars of today (who she knew and interviewed prior to their global success), while also being able to reach the millennials (heck, I'm technically one of them! LOL). Lastly, she is multi-faceted in her approach. She can be "hood" when needed, but always maintains professionalism and has very intelligent conversations. She gets certain artists on her show to discuss things they won't share elsewhere, because of her trustworthy demeanor. They know she has no ulterior motives. I think she will be an amazing host, as long as she finds her own lane and doesn't try to do it the exact way it's always been done, which can only be figured out over time. "People" thought Oprah wouldn't work either... ☺️ In terms of interviewing skills, I'd rank her as great as Oprah. She's like the hood's Barbara Walters or Oprah.😂 Look at her talks with JCole. Her interviews always feel like conversations. I think she needs to be given a chance. And that's the end of my essay. My bad...😂😜
Oh one more thing -- in regards to Jennifer Lopez' "failures" -- in order to be successful at anything, failure is a part of the journey. Most successful entrepreneurs have failed at least 7 ventures, or have even had to file bankruptcy (*cough* Mr. President!) multiple times throughout their journey. Google the stories of countless Billion-dollar enterprises. All projects are not home runs in Hollywood/TV. Simon Cowell failed many projects before the success of American Idol and all actors have hits and misses. If you aren't failing at something, you're probably not trying hard enough...☺️ I'm just curious about what dance show you're referring to that JLO has failed? I watched Season 1 of World of Dance and now Season 2. Last I checked, Season 3 has already been renewed... Can you clarify that for me? I'm not arguing, I'm curious. I could be looking at the wrong sources..
extremedude1234 Angie Martinez has a 2 hour interview with 2pac, she released a snippet of it a few years back but never the whole thing because was at the height of his savage mode against the bad boy etc.
jhamp7191 It's online, Akon and his team made a proposal to #45 to power the whole island, and they said NOPE! 🙃Now you see what they did to Africa 😯 and still said NOPE!😐
Super cool to see a radio peer get recognized. Not just for hip hop but for our radio fraternity. Angie deserves it! Salute and congratulations. I hope she gets in.
Stephen x he kinda does clown on her alot. He's expressed his feelings on his time working with her and they didn't sound pleasant. The time she fainted on her show in front of her audience, he speculated on air that it's probably due to drug use.
