Angina is the commonest presentation for Heart Disease. In this video, I will define Angina, what Symptoms you should look for and what are the Treatment options should you experience any of its symptoms.
Thank you Years ago I had a angiography and was told large arteries clear. But straight after had the exact pain. Doctors thought I was having heart attack. I didn't. It wasn't. They then said it was angina in small arteries at top of chest. OK. Gave me the spray. Eased off after some years. Now since having first covid vaccine 2020. I've not been right. Breathlessness , chest pains, B/ P high. To the point that in May during the night I was woken with chest pain slight left, sweating, jaw pain, pins and needle to elbow, pain between shoulder blades. I've 65, woman overweight 15 St 3lb. Didn't phone for ambulance because my cat was also dying and needed to be here. This pain continued even after using spray for about 40 minutes in total. Lips went purple. This happened about 3am. Did go to hospital at 1pm. In short. Ecg negative heart attack. But 3 blood tests, 2hrs between each had highly raised results 🤷. Said I need to be on asprin, clopidogrol. Plus my normal B/ p medication. Had a previous mini stroke 2017 on a plane. Uk doctors wouldn't recognise it although I had all paper work to confirm it. I'm still waiting to see cardiologist. Since then I believe I'm having 2 issues going on. Angina which I cope with the spray, sometimes not even using it but sit it out. But the other very different. I now get Breathlessness very easy, even on moderate walking very short distance. To go upstairs and down. Fatigued. I have a constant dull ache in the left of my chest when sitting but on exertion. Oh my I'd walked to the bus stop and it felt like I'd been hit with a sledge hammer between my shoulder blades. Sweating, giddy, pain unbearable had to lean up bus shelter. Managed to get on bus. Lasted easily 40 minutes if not bit more. That was 12 noon. Only started to feel normal around 5pm. Not had it that bad since but have had another two. On second one managed to take blood pressure reading at the time 201/102 plus 72 Gp just added diltzitem . As also my regular b/ p are 198/ 98. Now it's lowered only top figure. Any advice please. Getting nowhere here with Gp as he won't send the info to the hospital as they've requested.
This was most informative video on this subject that I had the opportunity to watch. Others are good, but this doctor explained the problem, diagnosis and treatment in more than adequate detail. It was done in a manner that anyone could easily understand!
Hi! I’ve been having chest pain since I was in high school (I’m presently in the university), it occurs most times when I’m in bed or when I’m walking, sometimes I also feel it when I lay on my left side. I mostly feel it on my left side even though there are times I feel it on my right (which is rare). It usually comes as a very sharp stabbing pain, that prevents me from moving or turning (change position), cause the moment I do, the pain increases. Went for an X-ray scan two years ago, but I was told I was okay. I really don’t know what to think is wrong…(I’m 18 years old btw)
@@parthvatsal1 Not yet my friend. I went to cardiologist n screened my heart n he said the heart is ok but it's muscle pain and not life threatening. I don't know wat to do now
I have the same since I was 18. It only happens when I'm really sad or frustrated.I'm old now and have high blood pressure. I take metoprolol and I can feel it again every time I stop taking it
Thank you! Very informative. I started watching this video because I’m experiencing persisting pain in my left arm (mostly from the elbow to the wrist) sometimes accompanied by tightness in the chest. Today this started when I went out and it was quite hot (30° C). Most of the time it’s just my arm that hurts on its own. I’ve seen a general practitioner many times and they always send me home with painkillers which do not help. Do you know what could possibly be the cause? Thank you!
You have done all the right things. I suggest that you discuss with your doctor whether you would benefit from a stress test, information about this can be found in my video titled "Cardiac Stress Testing" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jy24PhSH-2s.html
Hello Doctor, thank you for making this video. I have warm feeling and feeling like an irritation at my heart, accompanied with migraine. I went to see the cardiologist, did a blood test and everything seems fine. Except LDL cholesterol. I need to take medicine. The doctor said that the Soft bone of my chest might be responsible for it. Can stress also be responsible for it? I might go for a second advice. Thank you.😊
Doctor, I’m 27 male in relatively good shape. Been having chest pain since my first panic attack (which I thought was a heart attack). Went to the ER and EKG, blood test and x-Ray all came out Normal. They deduced it as anxiety/panic disorder. Saw a cardiologist regardless and did the whole round of tests (EKG, stress test, 7 day holter, and echocardiogram). - everything came out perfectly normal! However, I’m still experiencing chest pain daily. It’s to the point where I’ve taken myself to ER around 10 times which every test coming back normal. My cardiologist doesn’t want to do anymore tests for my chest pain since all the other ones mentioned before came out perfectly normal. I’ve told him the pain even goes to my left arm, but he’s become dismissive of my symptoms since the echo, holter, stress test and all the tests I’ve taken at the emergency room come back normal. What can it be? My chest pain is daily.
From the information you provided, the fact that the stress test, Holter and echocardiogram are all normal is reassuring. There are other causes of chest pain that can be explored and your doctor might be able to help you with this. The information about this is on the following link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H8OXDq1e-xg.html
Same here. I'm 34 male. Since my panic attacks back in 2021 which i had never experienced before (as you said i got a couple of times to ER and did all possible heart check ups, blood tests, i even did a head and neck MRI. Only my neck has some stenosis and a little cervical spondylosis. All others came out as Normal. I get from day to day this chest discomfort feeling, most of the time with the need to burp (probably acid refluxes) and a sensation of a sudden fluttering beneath my breastbone. I have had sonce then a big discomfort in my right arm and right side of the neck, feels like a pinched nerve but even though i do stretching the discomfort and pain is still there. I got also pain or my lower right side of my back which also feels that needs a strong strech but even though stretching again, it still persists. Generally all the right side of my back to the right side of neck has a discomfort; that terrible 3 months i had back in 2021 with the panic attacks (as docs said so) i felt lots of times like i was fainting, a huge stiffness on the back of neck and rapid heartbeats, raised blood pressure, lose of appetite, sometimes a feeling of sudden electrical discharge through my body and weight loss (around 10 kg) in 3-4 days. I really don't know how to handle this thing. No doctor has found a solution, they're claiming it's due to stress and not enough physical activity, which could be true but you know, feels that's not the only reason.
36 years old. When i go for a light jog, i get a pain on lower left chest/top of abdomen. If i stop running it goes away instantly, like witnin 5 seconds. Im freaking out...
Hi, Dr Bolad. I've been diagnosed with angina recently so I looked for some info. My chest feels very heavy after just a short 20-50m walk and I have to take a Nitro spray under the tongue. I used to be very active but ate badly. Does this mean the blockages in my arteries are more severe so my movements are much more restricted?
How has the angina been diagnosed. Have you had cardiac catheterization or a stress test? Symptoms generally occur when blockage in an artery reaches 70%. Twenty to 50 meters is a short distance and I recommend that you ask your doctor about the treatment options.
Hello Doctor Whenever I eat a greasy meal or fastfood, I feel heaviness in my chest. My last ecg and echo report was normal but as I was stressed before the test, it showed tachycardia hr of 116bpm. My blood cholesterol is normal. Usually when I wake up in mornings, my shoulders are stiff. I have a partially slouched posture. Do you think my morning pain is angina? When I walk for 30 minutes after wakeup, I have no symptoms at all. My walking speed is 4km/hr. Please advise for any tests.
I suggest that you discuss with your doctor whether you would benefit from a heart stress test, information about the test can be found on my video titled "Heart Stress Test" on the following link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jy24PhSH-2s.html
I've recently had a stent procedure and I'm on beta blockers and statins but I am getting a bloating discomfort in stomach and wanting to burp feeling full of gas when I walk. What would you say this is? Would appreciate a response 👍
I would discuss these symptoms with your doctor who knows your history, and if he/she thinks that the medications are causing these symptoms, then alternative medications can be prescribed.
you don't need statins, I threw my stains In the garbbage due to people having the same problem. statin drugs have numerous side effects, some quite serious. do ur resaerch. some people have been on statins for like 2yrs etc and had no problems with It, other people experience mental effects, paranoia, anxiety, bad sleep, and issues with memory lost. I myselthf had a few of these side effects. I'm doing good now since I stopped taking them, they're just poisons.
Hello Doc. I started becoming breathless when I walk fast and then my jaw started to get really stiff. Sometimes i am feeling burning in the throat as well. The symptoms are prominent when the weather is cold and I am not having issues when it is slightly warmer. Also if I walk for 15 minutes then I do not get another attack and I am able to walk quickly without issues. I have recently done implants in lower jaw so I thought it is due to implant. I am 58, Asian, have normal BP and walk around 2.5 miles a day. I have changed my diet, walking 4 miles a day and doing breathing exercises for now. Thanks and let me know your thoughts.
I suggest that you discuss with your doctor whether you would benefit from a stress test, information about which is in my video about this issue in the following link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jy24PhSH-2s.html
Sir....i have a question that if a person encounter angina for the first time (with no records before) taking aspirin as a first aid (at home) then seek to medical treatment is advisable for relief? Pls answer and give (if any) alternative to this so that before seeking proper treatment patient can do ourself in the way to hospital ...
The important step is to establish the diagnosis, as chest pain can be due to a variety of conditions. It is generally not recommended taking medications without establishing the diagnosis with a physician.
I been having really bad anxiety since Feb . Went to the cardiologist end of March and had an echocardiogram, blood work, ekg, and also wore a heart monitor for two weeks got my results that everything was fine beginning of April. Well for about 3 weeks my chest hurts here and there everyday and since last week my lower jaw has been hurting here and there so I’m scared something is wrong but don’t want to go back to the doctor for them to tell me it’s anxiety :/ and not to mention when I eat my chest feels full but that is probably from me having a stomach ulcer. Before everything I weighed 234 I’ve changed my diet and weigh 178 pounds now so I’m just scared and wondering if I should go back to the cardiologist.
Has you had a cardiac stress test. If not, then I suggest that you discuss with him/her whether you would benefit from one. Information about this can be found on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jy24PhSH-2s.html
No I have not had a stress test done I’m going to see about getting one. Even when I’m resting or not feeling anxious my chest hurts so that’s why I’m worried about the chest pain here and there but everyone is saying anxiety can do that
I have a strange stitch like feeling below my left pec it has persisted for a about 3 days off and on. I am 17 years old and fairly active. Is this something to worry about??
There are many causes for such symptoms, information about which can be found in my video on the following link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H8OXDq1e-xg.html. I suggest that you see your doctor to examine and evaluate you.
For me, I just take aspirin and walked every day. It did hurt but pain went away, I did also also other exercise. The doctor said sometimes the heart veins get clogged but can find other ways to go around blockage. Of course watch your food , Organics and filter water for me.
The relief of symptoms also depends on the severity of blockage and the site of the blockage. I am glad you are following with your doctor regarding this.
I was diagnosed with mild agina and after treatment for 8months went back to the doctor and after taking those xrays he said all wad OK.pliease advice me should I continue with the medication
If the diagnosis of angina was definite, then it seems that the symptoms due to the blockage(s) are controlled with medications, and therefore it is necessary to continue the medications as advised by your doctor. How was the angina diagnosed; did you have a stress test or cardiac catheterization?
Hello doctor thank you very much for your video. I have a question .my GP said I have symmtom of angina . They give me one pack atorvastatin. My question should I continue take atorvastatin ? Or what medicine can I take for release angina ? Thank you
Atorvastatin is a lipid lowering agent meant to reduce/ prevent progression for coronary artery disease. We prescribe it routinely to patient with coronary artery disease. It does not help the symptoms of angina, and other medications are needed to help the anginal symptoms.
I can not recommend a specific medication as I am not your treating physician. Generally, if what you suffer from angina, a medication from the beta blockers or nitrates group of medication will be needed. Your own physician will help with is needed for your symptoms.
Exactly whatever you have said its what am feeling and for years chest pain, back born pain, left hand side pains me always even when I started gym no change i have used every medication to feel free in my youth age but no change now i lost hope even now the chestis paining me so badly dr i need your help thanks

I was born with a congenital heart defects and have had 3 major open heart surgeries over the years. I'm now 40 in heart failure with major angina systems every day now. Hi! I was misdiagnosed with angina, and I was given plagerine for 2 weeks, after which I have not been feeling comfortable. Is there a chance that I can go back to being comfortable again, or does it mean that I have the disease now?
My husband gets sudden extremely sharp stabbing pain primarily left side of chest. These can happen if we’re just mucking around .. as in tickling or just trying to get each other lol. Other times he can be just standing there or sitting. It’s sudden, painful, stabbing and lasts a good 5 mins or so then goes…leaving him exhausted. At times he will get 2 in a row. He isn’t sweaty but maybe a tad clammy. No pain etc arms, jaw etc etc. no nausea. He is overweight yes. Pre diabetic yes. 60 yrs old. A smoker. Bp generally good. Sugar levels 4.5 . (I’m a diabetic).

OK - I think i have Angina because I get a feeling in my chest when I am walking my dog. Surprisingly when I do exercises like 100 kettlebell swings I am OK. So, something is not right. I am a 75 year old male. I am not keen on starting on Asprin and Beta Blockers because once started it is hard to give up. So, I have now started taking Vitamin K2 and Tocatrienols and Vitamin C. Any comments would be welcome

I feel I'm the same. I go to the gym and I'm fine. I do the bikes for 20 mins, I do all the machines and walk for another 20 to 30 mins. I swim also sometimes. HOWEVER, when I'm outside walking with the kids I get pain in my chest area in less than 5 mins. This began about 2 months ago. I had mid June. I wonder if it's just Acid reflux, GERD, or Angina.

Leg swelling can be due to one of many causes, not necessarily directly to elevated blood pressure. Also, some medications can lead to leg swelling. I suggest that you check with your doctor to examine and evaluate you.
Hi all, if you have pain it’s normally a good guide that something is up. Go and see a Doctor that cares and get an Angiogram to check it all out if you can’t solve it with every other possibility. It carries a risk but that will answer it. Take care all M.
Yes it is. Angina is the result of narrowing of the coronary artery, while echocardiogram, which is ultrasound scan of the heart, which shows the muscular function of the heart in addition to the valves function.

Generally yes. I think your doctor is referring to heart catheterization, information about which can be found in the following link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x4Tz4NBY7IM.html . Another means for diagnosis is to perform CT coronary angiogram.
I am 27 years old. I feel severe chest pain even resting walking . I have checked EKG , Echo and stress test. If these 3 normal can i have a angina . Also i feel pounding heart after small walk as well. I don’t know is it from anxiety or angina. My doctor said i have rib inflation. But i am still unable to trust this is nit from heart.
There is no test which is 100% apart from cardiac catheterization. However, the likelihood of having coronary disease is low, as the tests above that you mentioned were negative.
@@DoctorBoladCardiology I would like to talk to you in your inbox so I should send the copies of the test I was told I'm ok when I'm not. For echo, ECG, x-ray, lipid profile, hematology, ldl/LDL blood tests I did so you advise whether I can have any heart related problem
