Thanks again for a fine programme. I am 72 years old Kevin and I immediately recalled Reagan’s attempted assassination; surprised you didn’t mention him in your list.
Although encouraging young people to believe that they may be trans is a problem (and I agree with you guys that it is) it seems to me that an even deeper problem is our inability to discuss these things well. Polarisation is a well known problem, especially online. But the world is not divided into goodies and baddies. I call myself a liberal but that doesn’t mean I hold “the liberal view” on each question. Liberal means free, after all. Free to make one’s own mind up, I’d like to think. It’s possible to be at the same time: pro-LLF, deeply disappointed by the behaviour and dishonesty of the C of E leadership, sceptical about trans ideology, and to think that re-election of Trump would be a disaster for the US and the whole world.
Yes, I would have liked to hear George finish what he was saying on the NYTimes article and the Hegel analogy. Unfortunately, Kevin couldn't help himself, interrupting George at a critical moment and that was that. Grrr.
We have a favorite son from Houston TX who went to England as a Baptist missionary. He helped establish in Sheffield church. Later after a maybe 10 years he gave the leadership over to locals. Meantime he taught in a couple of seminaries. He led a seminary. He wrote a pretty good book about Acts. But now he has gone full center and become an Anglican priest. His name is Daniel McGinnis. Do you know anything about him?
Love the reference to All Souls Langham Place in London, I try and visit whenever I’m in London. Last year I was there a few weeks before Christmas. Precious Church full of precious saints.
I thought very highly of Martin Seeley when he was principal of Westcott House when I was there. He's fairly high church liberal, but he's a good guy. Say hey to Fr. Tim Fountain in Sioux Falls.
Your presentations are timely and present issues in an informative and interesting way. Keep it up...Pax et Bonum + James + The Third Order, Society of St. Francis Province of the Americas
Do you know if the Presbyterian Church USA require affirming same sex marriage in order to be ordained deacon, or teaching elder in their church based on their end of June synod?
Even my physical therapist said to me, "God protected Trump.". The Secret Service did not protect Trump in his first term and they are not protecting Trump again. We have not discussed politics until l was wearing a Trump shirt.
Does God concern himselfwith the affairs of men like protecting President Trump from assassination? Daniel 4 :17 "This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men." My only gripe when watching the show is when Kevin starts to talk about Trump, he always acts mealy mouthed and holier than Trump, I don't get it? Just say you're a never Trumper, but then explain why and compare to everyone else you have or have not voted for. Maybe you see yourself in Trump LOL.
The Hebrew people certainly believed that YHWH performed "mighty acts"; but your 'friend', Jack Spong, felt he could not worship and adore so "capricious" a God as one who would act to save the life of the wife of a bishop (his first wife had cancer), but ignore the woman of another man who had no 'prayer groups' interceding for her. Was God on the 'side' of the Allies in WWII. This is the problem with dragging historical viewpoints and concepts into the present time: which is a major problem for the Church; barely acknowledged. With regard to the Church of England's General Synod, I think you have everything the wrong way around. "LIVING IN LUST AND FORNICATION" is the (oh, so clever and kind!) re-titling of a document over hwich many Christian people have worked in trying to address the Church's WRONG, two-thousand-year-old 'doctrine of human sexuality'. This doctrine was formed, based on Second Temple Judaism's 'knowledge' of human sexuality: which is nothibng like the knowledge we have following the ionsights and research of 20th-Century human scientists. Our God is creating (the present tense is vital!) through evolution: and to decide that any advancement in human knowledge, after the closure of the 'canon of scripture', is to attempt to block the work of God as Holy Spirit. But, in a Church-of-Priests, who are responsible for this situation, what more can one expect of MEN attempting to preserve their power. Only if you imagine the late Graham Leonard to have "had the truth" on this matter, can you hold to these ridiculous notions. THIS is why 'God's World' is rejecting the Church!
Gentlemen, while you are quoting the media’s vitriol against Trump, why don’t you refer to the inflammatory political discourse that Trump himself has employed? Eg ‘Lock Her Up’ - and the rest. Has he had no agency at all in weaponising political discourse? I
CoE is no longer a church of God. Believers are leaving and won't be back. What God calls sin, is sin. Any branch that does not deliver God's fruit whithers and is burnt.
