So late to this video but killer colors! Just got my 5 inch jerk bait. Having laminate issues. Looking for advice. One side does great! The other side mixes colors?
Jerkbaits are probably the hardest bait to get clean laminate lines due to being asymmetrical and having the hook slot. What temps are you injecting at ?
@@N2TW_customlures well started at 350. Bad. Then dropped to 320. Still bad. What gets me is that it’s just one side not both. Plus another obstacle I’m sure is this is remelt plastic. I am lost
@@clintjenkins13 laminates in general need to be very low temps. I try to keep all laminates around 320 or lower. If you have a lot of powder pigments in the plastic they will tend to bleed over the edges like your saying. Also with remelts if 1 side is a firmer blend than the other it can also throw off the laminates. The viscosity of the plastic is just as critical as the temp. I played around with laminating a hard blend with a medium blend and the hard blend needed to be around 15 degrees hotter to get the same viscosity and even laminates. Now all of that being said jerkbaits are 1 bait that bleed over on the side is very common and hard to prevent. I would recommend trying to inject around 300 and also check your plastic viscosity. If they are the same temp but one seems thicker than the other then it could be a difference in the firmness of the 2 plastics
@@N2TW_customlures thank you so much for the help. And right now I believe it’s in the blend. One reason is because I don’t know the blend. When I said remelts they are completely used baits from all sorts. I’m sure that makes it even harder. I get my plastisol tomorrow so it will be all the same blend and I’ll try the 300-320 temp. Very grateful for your responses.
