I live in California. It's the law. You can not deny entry to their property if they give you reasonable notice. 24 hrs is considered reasonable notice here..

@@VelvetHippos That's what the landlord is supposed to do. File eviction and get the police involved. Handle it on your own could get you deleted. The landlord can withhold any deposits and take the young man to civil court to get back past rents. Just walking into someone's place, even if they are renting is not cool or legal. He didn't even knock.

Going into a home that you have rented out, even if you are the landlord, is SO VERY PROHIBITED in my country! The tenant has highly protected ‘living rights’ (‘woonrecht’ in Dutch) as soon as they have signed the rental contract! If the landlord needs to be in the property for a limited number of specified reasons (like repairs or maintenance) the tenant MUST make this possible maximum TWICE a year. The tenant must be home at the agreed upon date and time or have someone else they trust to be in the home. The landlord MUST inform the tenant AT LEAST 48 hours prior to the desired appointment IN WRITING and the landlord also MUST actively work with the tenant to pick an appropriate date for the home visit,if the tenant is not able to be available at the by the landlord suggested date. The tenant IS allowed to change the locks to his home, as long as they keep the original locks and put those back whenever they move out. We have the right to make sure that nobody, that includes the landlord, has access to the property we’re renting and where we are living in! Once you have a permanent rental agreement, it’s almost impossible to get a tenant out of the house, even if they don’t exactly follow every single rule the landlord made…. ONLY if the tenant has 3 or more months of non payment… …OR EVEN MISSES A TINY AMOUNT OF PAID RENT FOR 3 MONTHS OR LONGER (!!) .. THEN THE TENANT CAN BE EVICTED! But, of course, this is not right there and then, but rather has to go via the legal system through an eviction case… (The ‘partly paid rent amount CAN be a tricky thing for the tenant, if they accidentally have not paid enough ATTENTION (most of us pay bills like the rent automatically, so we don’t have to check it out every month and also can’t forget it… BUT! I remember when I myself had made a little mistake in the amount that I had filled in when I started my automatic monthly payment for my rent and I only noticed that I had paid €5 too little AFTER this had been going on for 5(!) months…. So TECHNICALLY my landlord would have been legally perfectly in his right if he would have started the eviction process…. But we have no problems and there clearly was no need to do this… (My uncle had a dispute with the big corporation he rented his apartment from (him and his wife, both senior citizens then). And he had recalculated his rent amount and found out that he was paying SIXTEEN CENTS (!!!) TOO MUCH EVERY MONTH…!!! Now my uncle, who I loved dearly and who is missed every day, was a VERY STUBBORN MFKR! And a highly PRINCIPLED one at that! And yes: his calculations were correct: the 16 cents should NOT have been part of the rent amount!! But in HIS CASE my Aunt and him were ALMOST THROWN OUT OF THE APARTMENT! On the grounds of ‘insufficient payments for 3 months or longer’! I BEGGED him to pay the 16 cents but he kept refusing. Until he FINALLY accepted my plea to please do it for his wife and THAT’S when the eviction process was stopped (after all: throwing senior citizens out on the street is NOT the best way to promote your home rental business…. (A little piece of information that I myself had ‘whispered into the ears’ of that rental corporation…. 😉) * looks back at the whole BOOK I just have written here….. *shakes head….. “I think I got a little carried away again… ADHD is always ready to pop up when I want to write ‘just a little comment’…. 😂😂

You are correct I just confirmed with Google maps that even with usual traffic it should take you only 14 mins so she was either driving too slow, just plain lying or as you said taking a scenic route. The distance is only 5.5 half miles so easilly doable in 15 mins or less.

i grew up in the 60s and 70s. i was spanked with a belt, a board, the hand, and a switch. my mother slapped and hit me in the face. i hated them by the time i was a teenager. it took me years before i would speak to them again. however, i never behaved like any of these people.
