AC/DC's Angus Young talks about the guitarists who influenced him when he was starting to play guitar. Malcolm Young guitar god classic rock highway to hell back in black
I so love Angus & Malcom.... of course I love all the heritage guys, but Angus is so important in the big picture. AC/DC are an institution, everyone knows this.
Angus is truly original. His style is unmistakably his own. Not only that, but he plays hooks that are catchy; his solos are memorable. That's really what it takes to be a great guitarist, in my opinion. There's people who can shred circles around him but will never even approach his greatness.
@@morgellon7877 I love Angus, but to say his style is unmistakably his is a bit of a stretch for a lead guitarist in a simple rock band... Yeah, I reckon they played rock as good if not better than any other band there's ever been, but Angus plays mostly 1960s style rock and roll .. It's very simple music played very well ... With Angus, if you shut your eyes at times, it's as if you're listening to Chuck Berry with distortion and an amp turned up to 11..
Just goes to show how much, "THE MAN AND THE GOAT MR. JIMI HENDRIX" has influenced the best of some of the best. I love AC⚡DC and Angus and Malcolm Young. BROTHER'S who could play like there's no tomorrow! I've seen AC⚡DC with BONN SCOTT And Thank You for Brian Johnson! I've seen them at least 7 times Live in Concert. Keep on Rocking! ⚡👍👏 RIP MALCOLM YOUNG 🙏 ENOUGH SAID!!!✌️
Memphis is where I'm at right now for the last 28 years, where did Hendrix play at here in 1970 , I was 7 years old living in Milwaukee in 1970 and I have pictures of me that year too,fun times I remember if I wasn't grounded at the time 😆
Malcolm was a great guitarist. Away from Acdc's music into the blues stuff he could really do it. Shame we never really got a chance to hear that side of his playing so much.
On some bootlegs of jam sessions that the band did during recording of an album or stage soundchecks, you could hear a completely different side to Malcolm Young. Very bluesy, and quite the slide guitar player too!
I remember when I was a kid I wasn't excited by the music I heard until I heard Purple Haze by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. It totally blew me away & got me into rock music. Jimi definitely was a game changer.
Angus' older brother was George, who was in the Easybeats, a huge 60's band, in Australia at least. So, it was all around him while growing up. Very lucky to have grown up in such a great musical environment.
@@mjcussen7458 And then when the Easybeats folded, Vanda and Young became one the biggest and best writing, recording, production, and sometimes management crew through the 70s, 80s, and 90s, some big name productions in the 00s, influential right up into 2010s.
jimi is the greatest! When you get thru the heroes of your age group and learn the solos from metal and learn speed is a skill, you then learn theres some with natural talent. Hendrix is skill and natural talent combined and unmatched.
@@2216sammy Might be the most ignorant thing ever said on you tube, hands down. opinions r like aholes. Let me know when someone actually plays a cd of your music that you gave them. 99.99999999 percent of music that people made is forgot like grains of sand on a beach they get lost forever. Hendrix chopped down mountains with the edge of his hand.
@@thedude-jb7wx . . By your reasoning then, "The Newcastle Song" should be considered the greatest song ever released! CD sales is NO indicator of a guitarist's ability.
@@arthurblackhistoric To my ears hendrix sounds better than everyone. One of us has a cheap set of ears. Play Gypsy eyes on your channel let me know when you made it sound even close, ill give you an honest opinion.
"I can play guitar, a little bit", sweet. Angus has his solid style which is also another very high level. Once we made for fun some AC/DC covers and I had my difficulties with some of his solos. For me Angus is a very cool and really good guitar player 💪🎸👍
14 years old is the magic year. 🎸 I've toured with a few folks. All the guitarists say they started at 14. Kris Kristofferson Chuck Berry Willie Nelson Brad Whitford Waddy Watchel Sleepy la Beef Delbert McClinton Keith Richards Dsvid Cassidy Michael Sweet Robert Kray Steve Miller Elliott Easton Steve Stevens All started at 14. 🎸
@michaelcorreira8125 Hi . David Cassidy was actually one of my influences too . We all know he could Sing , but no One really paid attention to his Guitar Skills . I saw him in Concert a couple of times in Central Park . He was dam good . 🎸
One of the reasons is because at this age we have the strength needed in our hands to hold the notes, bend the strings, make barre chords, coping with the weight and dimensions of the instrument etc. The other reason is the beginning of our sexuality and in the time it was an excellent way to pick chicks.
Always could hear his Hendrix influence in his long solo’s his sound is different straight through the Amp with humbuckers Gibson sound but his attack and sustained feedback control very similar
It's great to know that Angus was actually inspired by Hendrix. Jimi inspired lot of our guitar heroes, from Angus to Yngwie (A to Z) influenced by one man: Jimi Hendrix.
And then Angus himself, became the influence and inspiration for many guitarist to come. Thank you Ang and the rest of the AC DC boys for playing all of that simple amazing rock n roll that we fans love. Rock on 🤘 ❤️💯⚡️⚡️⚡️
AC/DC my favourite band, Angus and Malcolm my favourite lead and rhythm guitarists. Never seen them live, but boy am I grateful for every record they made. R.I.P Malcolm and Bon 🤘🤘🤘
absolute myths. Malcom: Rest in peace, you are more alive here than ever. Thanks guys, thanks for making us dream. I owe you a lot. I started playing after seeing Angus...I was 8 years old.
One of the best stories I read was in Kerrang! magazine regarding pre-show back stage at AC/DC gigs. "Angus loves a nice cup of tea before the gig. No tea, no show!"
Hey, Love this band ! Only the Beatles edge them out as my favorite Rock Band. AC/DC makes me feel like a teenager with that raw, Heart -throbbing beat. Five Star Salute guys !!!🔥💥💯❤️⚡👍
Purple Haze and the cranked EL34 tube powered Marshall and HiWatt amps changed the trajectory into 'Hard Rock'. The Who got it. Zeppelin got it. AC/DC definitely got it.
People today, mostly do not get, the different eras, and when these guys we listen today, talk about how they got that shot of energy that inspired them. Not to mention, it was a time when electric guitars and amps were improving or advancing rapidly from the small combo cabs and hollow bodies, to solid bodies, half stacks, different pickups, full stacks, 20W became 45 and 50 watt. Then 100 Watt, and brief flirtations with 100W Laney stacks that burst into flames when Tony Iommi turned them on, (he loved it) this was awesome shit in late 60s pushing toward the70s when you look at it from THEIR prospective. Then look at it through the eyes of the next generation of Teens, along comes Van Halen in 78.
One of my favorite musician of my youth and to present day and I have seen them in concert at the monsters of rock and unfortunately those days are long gone and I feel sorry for todays generation they don't have any real artistic talent just a bunch of con artists.
One really huge achievement is that the brothers find their own individual style. Their playing seems a bit far from Jimi, but I can't really imagine any great guitarist that wasn't doped by Jimi. Very happy to hear that from him. ⚡
Good on you , Good Sir. Hendrix wasn't a great rock guitarist, He was a Mississippi Delta Blues master. Pentatonics being the foundation of both... Listen to "caption coconut" 😎🇺🇸🙏
There was a rumour that Angus was tossed a cream coloured Strat with a rosewood fingerboard at the Montreal Forum For Those About To Rock We Salute You concert and did a Hendrix tribute solo! 🎸
