Anharmonic Vibration | Overtones: υ ← 0 

In this video we discuss anharmonicity to better model the potential that includes molecular dissociation at higher excitation energies. This feature is not captured by the Harmonic Oscillator model, hence the need for this extension.
In practice, this leads to observation of **overtones**, transition peaks / energies that otherwise would not be expected from selection rules derived using the Harmonic Oscillator model (Δυ = +/- 1).
