Guide and Pyasa by S D and Amar Prem and Aandhi by R D are probably the most perfect film albums ever composed for Bollywood. Each and every song is mind blowing in its ingenuity. What a great duo. May they rest in peace in their otherworldly abide.
Thanks Asheesh Pandey ji for uploading these reminiscences of Anil Biswas, one of the doyens of Hindi film music. He says what we all feel deeply, there will never be another composer like Pancham.

Who cares for awards. Do u even remember who got awards in those years. People don’t remember those songs n those music directors but they remember Pancham n his songs so fondly.
Lagta hai aap ne R D kay raag based songs nahin sunnay. ‘Ghar aaja ghir aye badra’ ‘aayo kahan de ghan shaam’ ‘beeti na bitai raina’ ‘piya bawari’ ‘raina beeti jaye’ ‘khaali haath shaam ayee hai’ are some of the best shastriya based songs composed for Bollywood.
As excellent as the Hindi version 10:15 is, the original Bengali "Ja Khushi Ora" is far more natural, despite having musical excellence, and keeps the fundamental point about the song being a monologue, a troubled friend consoling his woman in tears, with truth of the world, rather than the Hindi version which is out and out musical song. Perhaps Anil Biswas did not mention this, because it wasn't a Burman composition? He couldn't have been unaware of it, of course.

SD Burman songs were mostly on Indian music, RD Burman songs were just copy of Western tunes lol. Rafi cud sing both SD Burman and RD Burman songs, Kishore only cud sing RD Burman songs lol.
Shankar Jaikishen and Laxmikant Pyarelaal deserved a program more than SD and RD Burman. But its good a whole episode was reserved for Naushad only, who was greatest thats y.
गुरूजी जो R D बर्मन जी की इतनी तारीफ कर रहें हैं क्या उन्हें पता है ये सारे गाने पश्चिमी गानों की नक़ल हैं. आज इंटरनेट पे दुनियां छोटी हो गई है. Originality S D बर्मन में थी.
