I don't know if Fallon and Kimmel are legitimate wusses or if they only pretend to be scared to get laughs, but I give huge props to Conan for stepping right up to hold a giant snake and not completely freaking out when it squeezed him. Also, he's the only host who seems to genuinely *want* to touch and interact with all the animals (though hopefully Colbert will do the same, once he starts having more of them on his show. So far I've only seen him with a giant iguana - which he did seem happy to pet - until it peed all over his desk).

To be fair: once a snake hits 3 meters (something around 9 feet), you want to have 3 people per meter to handle them. While they can't eat a fullgrown adult person even at 10+ meters (different species and lots of false reports), they do have more than enough strength to overpower people and kill them. They're basically a tube full of muscles

that woman carried the whole python on her own, woaaaaaaa, I mean, that's impressive . . . Edit: Okay, the thread under this comment escalated to a whole new extent. Just to clarify, this comment was made 6 years ago, back when I was 14 yo, I guess my 14 years old self looked at this big ass python & thought that it weighted a lot of pounds, & I didn't even focus on the fact that she's a woman. I just thought it's crazy how 2 people brought the snake out to Conan and David, then 3 people held it, but then only one person carried the whole python on her own to go backstage. 14 yo self me was probably easily impressed by that 😂

Fun fact time! On some of their movies where animals were protagonists such as Bambi, they would bring those animals into the animation department or the animators would go and see the animal they’re supposed to animate. They do it with writers too to study their nature.

I love how he and Andy just get right in there. Usually late night hosts seem so skiddish around animal guests but these two are great with them. And these guests were adorable! I love snakes! And my family has our reunion at a state park where turkey vultures are everywhere. They're sitting outside your window, circling overhead during outdoor wedding ceremonies, they're everywhere. Early morning gossip sessions with the vultures are fun. They know everything.

Looking at this vulture just reminds me again how birds are related to dinosaurs. Wait, scratch that, ARE dinosaurs. I mean look at his feet, even David said "this is the velociraptor". I mean damn, I've been lied to my whole life hearing that dinosaurs went extinct. It is actually crazy thinking how of all the millions of dinosaurs that were around 65 millions years ago that birds are the only species of dinosaur that survived. They evolved wings which was crucial to their survival and saved them. I have a new found respect for birds! haha

+Mark Minnema It's true. Birds are technically included in the clade Dinosauria, though this is a fairly recent change in the way we classify animals. It's not so much that birds not being thought of as dinosaurs was a lie as that due to the expanding knowledge of genetics and evolutionary biology, it became problematic to separate birds from dinosaurs. But yes, I wholehearedly agree. Vultures are the ones who re-ignited my interest in dinosaurs.

I volunteered at a museum that had the same kind of snake as that. It's an albino, by the way. It was actually one of the nicest snakes ever, nicer than the small snakes. Her name was Peaches. Same size, and I saw a seventeen year old girl handle her on her own. Also, the biting end is actually the safest end, since it would have a harder time being able to bite you if it did.

City people like myself don't often see large birds the size of dogs. The biggest we get are some fat pigeons. Also, it walks in a manner we aren't used to seeing, with what appear to be very muscular legs. In other words, we think it can eat us, and it can, so it frightens us.
