Honestly, I am EXTREMELY impressed that the Animal Jam community is still thriving after more than 10 years. I genuinely thought the whole site was dead, I genuinely thought the whole system shut down by this point. I'm glad it didn't, in fact, I am really surprised by the fact that Animal Jam didn't go down the RU-vid route and have the developers become greedy and scumbags, so props to them. Anyways, good job on this video, it really just makes me want to play Animal Jam again, just for old time's sake and nostalgia, so thanks for that.

Ok this all makes sense but in MY opinion I personally think they are VERYYY money-hungry… the re-skins, boxes, tokens and such. But I do have to admit you ARE right when you said it’s also the community’s fault for buying it. Honestly they do have a knack for making people wanting to buy pixels! Anyways um I’m gonna stop rambling and causing vexation and food vid hehe.
That intro took me back to being a naive kid in 2017 sitting in Jamaa township, completely confounded by the amount of hysteria over “aj shutting down” 💀
one day animal jam had a countdown in game of how long untill the game would shut down- we waited we got kicked- but as you can tell- we are all back on and playing in theory it did this was a magjor update needed room- alot of players was panicking- the game on screen was telling us it was shutting down- but as like today there was waaaaaayyyyyy to many players to shut it down. when gifting trees came out i think it was 2021 or 2022 every single sever was full from people racing to open gifts. meaning there are waaaaaaay more players in animal jam then was expected. animal jam is super big game and like any other game it's still going for many years.
I'm one of those newer players, having joined on the 27th of January, having had a light interest in the game for many, many years until said interest went dormant until recently where one of your videos (How Jammers become scammers) popped up on my feed and brought my interest back with a vengance and although to many i'd probably (and understandably) be considered too old for the game, I've been having alot of fun just exploring the various systems and minigames and I'm constantly surprised by the sheer depth and content the game has. For context, I played Club Penguin (RIP) for over a decade and compared to that game, AJPW has alot, alot of complexity in places like reward systems (little bonuses like nocturnals, shovel minigames etc.) as well as, for better or worse, the economy. As a sub-2 week old player, I feel like I've not had any difficulties in getting stuff, I was able to earn my way to membership in just a few days, mostly from fighting phantoms from the phantom potions in Appondale and selling the drops from the golden rays in the touch pool minigame. My interest in the game has also been further boosted by the fact that I love animals alot so I've been enjoying learning all the various facts about them in loading screens and minigames. For those curious, my favourite animal at the moment, both in and out of the game, is the opossum. I don't know yet how long I'm going to stay but I can definitely see the magic in this game. I do wish though they had some option that, at least for me, made me feel less like an adult at a playground, as I've purposely tried to not get too involved with the community and players besides one-off advice or shop/trading stuff for that reason. In the game itself, I feel quite at home, the minigames are obviously slightly on the easier side but were definitely not all easy. So thank you for, accidentally, getting me interested in this game. Apparently there is talk of them actually making a new animal jam game, an upgrade for classic. Which would be amazing if they actually follow through with it as it could bring a lot of old players back. As a primarily classic player who has been playing since 2011 classic is really starting to show its age a bit. Also I love your videos haha
I'm apart of the percentage that has ajpw on a laptop (I downloaded it from the website, not steam.) It's sad that people are quitting, I also think people were quiting when covid was popular because of flash shutting down and it just wasn't popular.

This is very true, I know many may have exaggerated it (i’ll admit that I even have) but I would say Classic definitely has died, it may have revived a bit but it’s still practically a ghost town & from what I heard from others, it has also been getting empty (?) again. It had it’s peak when old jambassadors returned and when it was a necessity/when it was new but since then it’s not really seeing much increase in players. The Animal Jam RU-vid community in my opinion as well, some are doing great but i’d say that many RU-vidrs (including me, depends the video topic though!) haven't been getting that much attention lately. Especially non-commentary creators as many people nowadays prefer seeing nostalgic content, or hearing someone talk about: 1. Something negative about the game (which is fine as everyone has the right to speak their opinion! 💜) 2. Videos on a major issue/topic within the Animal Jam community. Many nowadays you wont see making videos of them actually playing the game, (videos such as Akashai’s for example), and if they do that kind of content very few get good views out of it, almost never surpassing commentary videos as of present time. Animal Jam Play Wild itself is honestly doing a lot better then many people describe it to be, many perceive it to be dying because they’re seeing many friends quit but in reality, it’s definitely not “dead” just yet and I think it has a **potential** good future, just financially it may be hard to grow the game majorly and I can’t say i’m certain it will. As of now it’s hard to tell how the game will go for Animal Jam Play Wild/Animal Jam into the future, but for things like Classic, i’ve pretty much lost hope, unless AJHQ can get in a better financial situation the likeliness of seeing them put as much effort into it as AJPW is very slim. And for the AJYT community, it has it’s ups and downs, for me right now i’d say it’s at one of it’s downs, but I do think it’ll gain more traction again. 💜
i wouldnt call it a ghost town, theres still a decent player base in classic, sure its not what it was in its prime but i wouldnt call a game dead unless theres literally 0 players at all times of the day

I realize my wording was quite off, I haven’t logged on Animal Jam Classic ever since 2018 or around that time, so I just had inferred based on what i’ve heard from others within the community. I do also understand that since the number of players have likely changed since, I do agree with you!
i dont think the game is dying per se, but as an exclusive classic player since 2013, there is very little to be hopeful about. even with the rewritten, i strongly doubt theyll bother too much to add anything worthwhile into classic. but i do hope to be proven wrong.

Yeah, when I still had my old account, I was super scared that all my money would go to waste. I got over it, even started a new account and channel when I got banned, and so if it did, I would maybe get over it. Everyone would get over I at some point.
Ive been playing since 2017, stopped for a while and then rejoined. Even after i got hacked, i came back. This game is impossible to quit! Idk what the thought aj is dying even came from!
If you play play wild like I do Mobbly on cellular device they don’t really email you about the membership expiring. If you don’t play daily like I do they keep charging you not automatically canceling it.😢
What about Animal Jam Classic, I've noticed the animal selection in the diamond shop has been cut down drastically. Some on a countdown that aren't the limited time animals with the patterns, the elephants are next. You can't even get their newest animals the Dire wolf and Saber cat.
Animal Jam Classic is another story. I don’t play it all too much but the game is stagnant because it can’t be updated due to it being coded on flash. From what I know, Clark Stacy claimed last year in an interview that WildWorks is working on entirely recoding the game to be uodate-able. This could take years since it’s functionally building the game again from the ground up- but I don’t even know if it still is a project they’re working on given that Clark Stacy stepped down as CEO earlier this year..

i've been playing Animal Jam for years, and ever since I've left the game.. I'm still able to access my account lol I didn't expect people to say: "This game is dying!!, and there isn't anything we can do!" Surprisingly, after visiting the game again, people are still playing the game. I even met an old friend of mine a while back I used to hang with, and they came back to visit too which was really cool! I'm glad to see people are still playing my childhood game^^
Dear kijjikon, you may not spend your time reading this but if you read this. Thank you. Here we have this amazing red otter named kijjikon and he has amazing friends and amazing content he is struggling a lot. If anyone remembers he QUIT at one point talking about him needing a break for his health and life. He finally came back after a while and saw him making lovely content THEN HE WAS HACKED- HACKED! Yet he hosted a GIVE AWAY! Kijjikon kinda needs some more views and more appreciation for what he does. Thank you to kijjikon for staying strong. ❤
Finally someone who appreciates how hard animal jam is trying! While working on huge updates, they still live up to their promise of delivering a new animal each month, even though they’re reskins. They’ve been trying to focus more on classic, and releasing new events every month etc. I’m not as in to it as I was as a kid, but I still stick around. The 7 yo latch key kid I used to be would’ve loved these new updates so much ❤ I get the reskins are annoying, but it’s a way to cycle around new updates while working on something big for us like the unicorns (and possibly dragons) Games like this take a lot of a passion and love, it’s more than just making money. Hey, the company has to keep its employees alive and well. People need money to survive. It’s not just being “money hungry” and “greedy.” They’re dealing with inflation just like we are.

i’m not as worried that feral shut down. it was unfortunately a project doomed at the start, but i’m so happy that animal jam has stayed until now, since it’s what i went back to after feral’s shutdown. i love that the age group is around my age too; a bunch of highschool/college students/adults just playing for nostalgia! personally i’m a prime example that the game hasn’t died; i’m seeing so many people like myself coming BACK for nostalgia purposes with a greater presence than before. I also enjoy this size of the community now. I feel like the “big” streamers and jambassadors are able to cater toward the community better and make them feel more heard bc of the smaller size. i’m able to run into friends and people i recognize more often. i feel like because the community is smaller, it’s more close-knit and personal!

I should mention these games can survive a LOT more than people think!! Take a look at Neopets for example, that game hasn’t been in its prime since the early 2000s and yet it’s STILL going souly because of how much passion is still left in the playerbase!! It’s been bought and sold FAR more than AJ and if you think the AJ economy is bad..? Man you have seen NOTHING compared to Neo haha. I know we will be fine as long as there is passionate players who love and support the game like we do :3

While animal jam is getting some hate for their decisions, (not saying I dont hate some of them either), they're doing pretty well as a company to keep the game somewhat very fun and intetesting for people! as I, and many people are really gullible, I’m glad that jammers are getting out and stating the truth. it feels like every year people say that “aj is shutting down!!” just because some you-tubers are quitting. yes, although it does hurt that notable jammers have and are quitting, it makes way for new influencers, new chances of jammers becoming those iconic jammers. its not the same, sure, but change is a inevitable thing, and we, as a community, should accept it. looking forward to the soft ice dinos, i will eat it up.
man i was hoping this was about classic :( GIVE CLASSIC SOME LOVE IT NEEDS IT edit after watching more of the video: ok so you did mention classic but i really wish people wouldnt just gloss over classic in favor of play wild. i dont hate play wild but its nothing like classic and it just doesnt have the same feel to me, i really dont like the 3d models of most animals it just feels too like pandering to modern stuff, like, we dont need everything to be 3d, as well as many items being stiff and clunky and not fitting onto animals. its hard to play ajpw.
I don't think the base game and player base is dying but i think morals and the good community in the game are depleting. I've noticed more scams and people just grinding in the past year than ever, the only reason I've seen most people playing is to get items. No ones careing about friends, ppl are mainly grinding now :(.

@@kijjikon it kinda is… especially since most people who play the game are 18+ and have real jobs… if the Animal jam community was JUST 1-10 year olds it’d be a graveyard… most of the players would be New or guest jammers…
This is very untrue. The majority of the community very much still are children. As someone with a large(ish) platform I know that, firsthand, 90% of the people who watch my content and engage with me as a creator are VERY young. That aspect hasn’t changed. What HAS changed is that the ages of the influencers themselves have gotten older. We used to have tween and teen influences, but nowadays they are mostly adults. The community itself is alive, very much so. Just changed.
@@kijjikon I see where your getting at… I think the main reason why all of a sudden people think the game is dying is because of the updates we’ve been getting so far… the reason why The Halloween update was HUGE was because Animal Jam made a KILLING on the sapphire super box and premium shop items… the premium shop items were actually good and at a reasonable price… heck! That’s why the lightside and darkside event was free! As of Right now… The updates are getting quite repetitive (At least for me) I mostly only log on now to talk to buds and get the new stuff that comes out for each update… which most of the time I don’t as it’s mostly just re-skins… and lets say some new premium bundle comes out! I sometimes I don’t have the money to buy a glacier super box or anything else! Now I COULD use sapphires to buy the tokens but most of the time people overprice the items! Leaving me with no content for at least 15 days… plus, the value of most premium shop items are horrible! I mean! The terrific tail bundle is such a bad price😭 (7 dollars for re-skinned tails!) at least give like an extra 500 sapphires for buying it! One thing I liked is the wishing coins were free if you logged on a lot! Same thing with the lightside and darkside event! They were free of you logged on a lot and grinded the event! Soon enough a Super box with the party favor potions came out which was basically the darkside and lightside items but instead without the lightside and darkside effects! So I wasn’t salty about it! For example in the Galaxy super box you could get 200 sapphires for purchasing the bundle! Which was actually why I even got it in the first place as I wanted the anteater! So, the problem is that a lot of the “New” features are sometimes locked behind a paywall… and even if you have the money! Sometimes it’s just SO OVER-PRICED I heard someone say it’s 7 dollars for 1 wishing coin in their country… what they need to start doing is incorporating sapphires in the bundles to make the price seem fair! As, sapphires are easy to get nowadays and quite wanted! Heck! Some people might even just buy a Bad bundle just for the sapphires! I mean, that’s the main reason I got the galaxy super box! So that’s the problem… they are making paid bundles and acting it off as “New”

AJ is a little wonky sometimes . A tail pack that was the same as the racoon tail in logical sense that you just rip out a tail and sell it crazy ? Fine A p8doph@le that was roaming even longer than a jambassador ? That was ended Every game has its flaws , like money hunger . Aj has the problem of letting you buy items for gems , yet you cant convert the gems to sapphires , and getting up on the trade scale .
I'd very much love to disagree with you on that title there. Let's begin with Animal Jam classic firstly. Where do I even begin with the lack of content or updates of.. anything. Back when it was at its peak in 2014, throughout till 2018 or 19, a lot of jambassadors at the time were thriving with their skyrocketing AJ content. But ever since the whole animal jam migration thing, it's been going at it's downfall since, and it still is. Whats there to say that's new in Animal Jam Classic? We get reskin, after reskin, after reskin, and literally its gotten so bad theyve just now only done solid color random items just to try and stay relevant for the current AJC jambassadors. We've been promised a whole new animal jam game being coded somewhere else, but it's already been months so far, and I highly doubt with how much time they spend updating play wild that it would so so "difficult" as so many people say. We already had the forgotten desert taken recently, probably one of the core main reasons why people have membership nowadays. Now that it's gone, everythings just been collapsing again and again since. The constant recycled content and the lack of updates of ANYTHING at all of when TFD is coming, animal jam "2", etc. Animal jam classic is dying. It is. You can't deny it, and you cant use play wild as an example as to why its not dying, that is a whole separate game in it of itself. It's only a matter of time till animal jam classic shuts down, because really- you tell me whats there to do in classic nowadays, majority of the fun stuff is either broken, empty, or "in repair." The game is just constantly filled with broken bugs that haven't been fixed in some years, it's sickening and atrocious how much the game gets rejected and abandoned so much. *im just now manifesting an animal jam sandbox game.* im really tired while typing all this so sorry if things are back and forth.

There are REASONS behind the games State and the lack of Forgotten Desert- sure but that’s absolutely integral to the games playership. I still don’t think it’s going to DIE but it is dyING. If you feel me. I’m still banking on their animal jam recode. Which I don’t know the full extent of, but from speaking with people WAY smarter than me- it would be pretty difficult since they wouldn’t have the teams specialized to do that up to this point and saving player data might be hard-? But who knows man. I may just be optimistic to a fault but I guess I REALLY don’t wanna see another nostalgic game ‘sunset.’

That is indeed Animal Jam. Specifically the 3d version for mobile devices. It’s been around for years. The 2D version- deemed “Animal Jam Classic” still exists as well, but I personally play the former version.
this is sort of off topic, but as soon as i saw @ThePinkOtterAJPW ‘s video of her gifting you a blackout spike, and by the looks of how her content *AND ANIMAL 😂* is so similar to yours, i knew you guys would have AWESOME chemistry!! 😁💚💚🫶
0:29 There’s my video 😅 contrary to what it looked like, that video actually wasn’t a pessimistic “Animal Jam is dying wahhh!!!” video. It was basically saying much of what you said in this video (though it didn’t really include statistics and it was very poorly put together) as well as showing that there’s always going to be a “newer” generation of AJ content creators over the years. No but really, despite my biases with Animal Jam nowadays, the phrase “Animal Jam is dying!” were the words that got under my skin back in the day. Nowadays I’ve moved on and couldn’t really care less whether it’s dying or not, but the fact that people are STILL making those types of “Animal Jam is dying!” videos has kinda gotten old. It’s been 7 years and people are just repeating the same rhetoric as back then that filled me with enough hot air to eventually leave. 🥱 Get original please. You’re basically the only Animal Jam channel I consistently watch now because I feel like it’s something my 2018 self would’ve gobbled up LOL I used to be such a passionate Animal Jam fan back in the day, and any talk that included the words “Animal Jam” and “dying” in the same sentence got under my skin. 😂 Biases aside, I do feel that Animal Jam Play Wild will thrive, but AJ Classic I truly feel has seen its prime already. People still play it and it may be getting updates now even if they’re small, but I think Play Wild will always have more because of how well it’s doing. This doesn’t mean that I think AJ Classic is going away, but it’s undeniable that the mobile Animal Jam is overall doing better update wise and is just simply more modernized for the fact that it’s nearly the mid-2020s now. (Man that’s crazy… is 2025 really next year?!) It’s extremely hard to make content for AJ Classic other than nostalgia-based content, and I can speak from experience since I used to be a heavily AJ Classic Jambassador between 2019 - 2021. Now for my opinion, I don’t think Play Wild is bad, but frankly it is not my cup of tea and the bright colors do give me migraines if I play it for more than an hour. 😅 I can see how much my friends enjoy it though and I wouldn’t want them to have to constantly listen to rhetoric about the game dying when it most likely isn’t. That just scares people and drains their motive to continue playing or making content. Man if you’d been in the community years ago, I don’t think I would’ve left on such bitter terms. 😂 You’re doing such a fantastic job and I would’ve loved to make a collab video with you at some point. Such a shame that our channels happened at such different times. 😢 I know we would’ve shared so many views on these topics.
Haha yeah-! Sorry if that caught you off guard, I didn't watch that particular video and mainly wanted some interesting visuals for that segment. This particular subject bothers me sooo much because YES obviously the player base is a fraction of what it was in 2014. However, that was NEARLY A DECADE AGO. If the grand fall of player numbers between 2014-2017 didn't kill the game yet, it isn't going to. The player numbers have been about stable since 2021, and even then, this thing is hard to measure given all the means of playing it and the fact many of the players are little kids without access to socials and whatnot. Apparently some people have misunderstood my intentions in this video too. I never meant to portray it as if AJ is still 'popular' or whatnot, but some people took it that way..? Also also, YEAH. If only I wasn't wholly consumed by Cookie Run and My Singing Monsters back when you were active- though, either way! Relevant or not, making content or not, playing AJ or not- you are still pretty damn knowledgeable and I am still down to work something out with you if you have time or are interested yourself. I am absolutely honored that from what you said that I am one of the few (if only) AJ creators you watch nowadays. I ping-pong back and forth from loving and hating my own content alot. Alot of the times my videos that take off tend to be the ones I think are poorly produced (with this video being a lone exception.) It's not that I mind the praise, sometimes I just wish that the community (not yourself) had a bit of higher standards. I do not feel like I should be a commentary monolith :')
@@kijjikon If you want my constructive criticism, yes at times there are moments where I’ll THINK you’re leaning towards one side or the other (for example, when you say that those channels who make those “AJ is dying” videos are being melodramatic). Personally, I don’t think they’re always referring to the state of the game, maybe they’re just referring to the community or they’re simply having trouble adjusting to the newer generation of AJ. They could also be referring specifically to AJ Classic since a lot of people cling to that game for nostalgia reasons (something I’m also 100% guilty of). I also recall a video by Queenwolf AJ from 2022 about the state of Wildworks where she admitted that Wildworks was not doing well at that time, so it’s possible that people just don’t want to discredit her words as a Jambassador and they probably think that’s what you got wrong in your video since you said that the game has been doing pretty well. Though keep in mind, that video was from 2022 when Fer.al shut down and Cinder happened. I believe the video was made after the Nazara acquisition. I will say that it’s quite different in the community now than it was from when I was active, and has felt very jarring to even try and be apart of. I have a straightforward approach that many people in the community nowadays take the wrong way because I don’t mince my words or sugarcoat anything. I feel like if I were still a Jambassador, I’d be having callout posts on me left and right, seeing as that’s how some current Jambassadors are treated just because they have an opinion that doesn’t match the crowd. My opinions match the crowd TO AN EXTENT, but I also have some opinions that are not in alignment with a large chunk of this community and I can see myself ruffling some feathers. 😅 I’d love to work something out with you, but I’ll have to be choosy about the topic. If it’s something a trifle controversial, I’ll have to be extremely careful in how I discuss it. I don’t even see you being straight up blunt and some individuals still seem to misunderstand what you’re trying to say. 😭
