Animal Jam is STEALING Players Designs?! 

serious comment, sourgreen who designed the starlight wings was given the first pair, that being the first ID 1. sammy who designed the bunny hat was my buddy for a time, they said they never recieved anything from ajhq but a plaque. for the tsunami items and the other design an item contests, the winners got the items with their names and they all recieved 10 rare tagged items of the first colour. past sammy's bunny hat, there has been 0 credit for the artists who designed the items.

This is unsettling to me, as I have always loved entering ajhq’s art contests, and always hoped to win. It’s sad that they just take your art instead of making their own designs. At least they provide prizes for the contest winners

What also concerns me is that young artists (and there's a lot in AJ since it's a kids targeted game) are less likely to call this out, either because they know they have no chance of doing anything with it or are just excited to have their item in game and see nothing wrong with it. I think the reason they use stuff that didn't even win the contest is because it means that noone can 100% confirm that AJ saw it and that it wasn't a coincidence that the items look similiar. Or AJ can say that a few people had the same idea, so noone can get credit since it's not that original. Notice how most of the people in comments say they're not 100% sure-it's because they can't prove anything to AJ. It's their "smart move"

I love the sparkler hat, but if I wasn't using youtube I wouldn't know who designed it. It's not good at all and this shouldn't be ignored in the community. AJ is just taking advantage of people's creativity and it's not hard at all to just add one line of credit, at this point it looks like they're running out of ideas and trying to make it look like they're not relying on players to release good new items

I also remember back in about 2021, they made the design a pet contest. If you well remember, someone entered the pet Highland Cow and it won. Later on, probably about 2022 or so, they released the Highland Cow. However, nowhere was the person’s username who originally designed it. Also, I really hope you feel better soon! Please take your time, take a break if you need to, and don’t feel rushed to make any posts.

Not to mention queen wolf made a plunger hat, donut set, back mushrooms, and a few other things for the clothing contest and she was never credited.

I almost feel like this happened to me and my sister! On the design a potion contest I made one called change your pet colors/eyes potion- and they just put out a token pet eye changing potion (idk if it really is a copy but aye) And my sister designed a qokka for the design a pet contest and it showed up later as an animal- I’m not saying they did but it happened after the fact and I can’t help but feel like it might of 😮

This is serious! Not crediting the artist can be considered art theft and it may get you into a lot of trouble for not crediting the artist. Crediting is a highly correct thing to do!

My FREIND actually had her item added in without any credit too! Probably none of you know this but she designed the axolotl hood for the hat contest, again, didn’t win! (She is slothqueen, owner of the slightly popular pack, fløwerz)

Aw im glad someone brought this up it’s upsetting that people get no credit tbh Ajhq needs to give them something or even just a simple news letter saying who else “won” the contest get there names out there

The person who made the glow worms I actually know which is wolfbatdragon and they told me they got rare versions of the glow worms just like the person who made the starlight wing but that's all they got im pretty sure. But in my opinion if they used someone's design without announcing it In the jamaa journal they should at least put the user in the item to at least get credited.

As a traditional and digital artist for 18 years and also played AJ Classic and Play Wild, I honestly love this video!!! I knew it!! they called me crazyyy lol... this came to my mind when i designed a Dia de muertos Dog for the pet contest, it was the same idea but they turn the mexican sugar candy pup to a frankenpup which i did before the release of the frankenpup token. I was like ok.... this look a lot like what i did but in an american floklore way.

A few responses: -The first AJPW clothing contest's winners got 10 of their default color of their item, these are rare tagged and exactly 10 -Not confirmed, but ID1 of starlight wings was in game and on the explorer way before others were found, I believe it was given to the winner, though i have no confirmation of it

I remember that for the "design a pet" contest, I submitted pet dinosaurs. Later, dinosaurs were added to the game. It's probably just a coincidence, though.

I did not know aj was doing something scummy and not crediting you. *sighs* Well that’s the typical aj. To be honest it’s not really a safe game to go on after everything that happened

And this is why I quit animal jam this year. So controversial, drama for absolutely no reason. And, most importantly, theft. I’ve gotten so disconnected from it due to its toxic players. I find it very upsetting from Clark making nfts and selling the company. It’s taking a huge downturn from since now the other company took it :( the animals are so repetitive, and so are the updates. Ajpw is more leaning towards ajpc. No new updates, nothing. I also dislike how the new company just claims everything is theirs. It’s sickening and so frustrating, mostly because they are a million dollar company and should atleast credit them.

i could be wrong but this could have happened to me with the pet axolotl. I'm not one hundred percent sure but hearing what wildworks is doing just pisses me off. I'm so glad that you are talking about this.

Kijjikon, my little sister Olf61 drew the space set for the item contest and AJHQ stole it and made that members rocket set and called it something new… she was so upset but happy it’s a thing. Just though I’d let you know ❤

I can't say for sure that this is what happened but I emailed AJHQ an update idea (more than once) describing day and night cycles with nocturnal animals and fireflies and day/night time dens (detailed) before they came out. When the update finally came, I was excited because it was exactly what I described. It was so close, eerily accurate to everything I had said that I thought they must've drawn some sort of inspiration from my idea, although I wasn't sure if they had even seen it (idk how high the chances are) and also because it wasn't mentioned anywhere that this was a player's idea so I brushed it off. But, looking at all the comments and videos about this, it seems they do like to take inspiration without credit quite often, so it isn't impossible.

I think animal jam also stole my item that I designed too without crediting me or they actually didn't know I drew it for the contest but i'm not sure. So the item was called amethyst boots (I think) So when the art contest was announced I decided to join of course the winners were announced and I didn't win well thats what I *THOUGHT* so there were like daily logins and MY design was used I was *REALLY* confused they didn't announce me at *ALL* they just put it their without announcing that I won now this might be a coincidence or not but I honestly don't know I was really mad at the time and I still kind of am Sorry for this comment being so long I just really wanted to say this 😅

During a fall designing contest I had designed a falling leaf tree and sure enough the falling leaf tree is in animal jam however I did not receive credit I’m unsure whether they already had made before I made the design but it is a bit sketchy

I remember a looooong time ago, AJ did it's first item contest on classic, and my family member submitted a fez design. And they actually released it, weather it was from our design, someone else's, or neither, I don't know. Regardless, it was really cool, and the idea is possibly making an AJ item no matter how insignificant was mind-blowing

I cant stand companies stealing from artists from every where. This also feels a bit more off since these players are kids who might not really understand that their work should be credited.

I technically had this happen to me. I designed a Greeley inspired alpha sword to be similar to the purple in his cloak. Aj releases a bunch of different color alpha swords into play wild. Not sure if it was due to that idea or not but I thought I’d share

Actually, in the hat contest the artist does get credited. Say floppy bunny hat then click and it’ll have a little thing that says Designed by with the artists name. Not the starlight wings tho

And I was the one who originally suggested pet highland cows! It was a couple years ago when they did the design a pet contest, and I created a masterpiece of a highland cow pet. It wasn't the winner of the contest in the end, but my masterpiece was put in jamaa journal as one of the runners up, so I KNOW they saw it!! And then, a couple months later, the highland cow pets were added to the game! I was so excited, and I thought that surely they would give me some sort of credit, but no 😢

I think it was queen wolf with the item she designed that got put in shop randomly. The donut earrings were designed by her and had some spin offs created of it by AJ so it seemed normal.

Quite a few submissions from previous contests have been used as concepts for items that were added in-game. The majority of these claims, so to speak, were most likely a coincidence or just inspiration. As for the Glow Sparkler Tophat, the design was nearly identical to the entry I submitted; clearly that one was a concept for the actual item. Similarly, there have been a few other items in-game which were based off of contest submissions or suggestions. I believe jambassadors also gave a few suggestions for items to be added in-game. As you mentioned, there's nothing wrong with AJHQ using these ideas, as per the TOS. AJHQ listens to the community's suggestions all the time, and that's the case with many of these items. While it would've felt nice to get some credit, if all these items were named after someone, it would kind of get repetitive and boring (not to mention increasing the name length; sometimes it's better to keep things simple). I'm happy they added the Glow Sparkler Tophat in-game and have no complaints about it whatsoever. I guess one of the rewards for actually winning the contest is getting it named after you and recieving a special prize. I'm not a huge fan of "everyone gets a medal", so I can totally see how they want to preserve the meaning of getting an item named after you. I am a huge fan of "everyone's feedback and suggestions matter", which AJHQ has been implementing so I don't see why we're complaining this much. The Floppy Bunny Hat does have a short description that it was designed by that jammer. You can find this when searching the item in chat. wolfbatdragon recieved a number of default worms that were non-token. Basically I want to encourage y'all not to complain about to AJHQ on the Glow Sparkler Tophat; we should instead focus more on appreciating that the item was added in-game based on players' suggestions. 😅

The only thing I wouldn't mind being stolen from my dino art I posted is the dino idea :/ I would live to be that dino on AJ. But yeah credit and if item is REALLY popular there should be some kind of reimbursement tbh :(

actually, animal jam has a bit of a weird history with randomly not crediting artists? speaking in terms of AJC specifically since that's what I'm most familiar with, items like speedywolf's seahorse and cleverclaw's dresser were designed by players in 2012 and obviously have credit on them, but then items like the eagle hat which was also designed by a player in 2013 DIDN'T get any kind of credit outside of being mentioned once 10 years ago in the jamaa journal?? its pretty weird. to even figure out that the item was designed by a player you’d have to find a fanmade blog or wiki that mentions it 😭 otherwise you’d literally never know.

I’ve actually had something simular happening to me. It was in the alpha contest. I designed an item called Dizzy Hearts and submitted it. A day later (I think) It was released into the game AS AN ALPHA. I didn’t know what to say, so I just told it to the pack I was in. Idk if they stole it or they just thought of the idea tbh.

In their first item contest I designed a triple tail (uncreative I know) with the default colors being light brown and tan and then I found out it was in item search, (it’s unreleased) I’m not mad because I’m sure multiple people entered the same idea I did but still wanted to comment this and thanks for making this vid because I noticed they were doing this

If aj owns every art piece they own a lot of copyrighted properties like demon slayer and helluva boss bc people make that stuff in aj and they do nothing about it. I literally made a shaymin sky form masterblock on aj- (this is why I put a watermark on my masterpieces, even my contest submissions) Oh also I remember during the design a pet contest they showed the runner ups in for the pet contest and the highland cow was in the journal and it was made by Sea34800

This kinda reminds me of a couple times I told ajhq to make membership free for a week when they reach 2 million players, and the next thing I know I see that through a code (I suggested it to be through a code too, idk if the number of players was different). This one other time, I suggested a game to make your own items. Some time after that the minigame was created. I pretty sure those were just coincidences but I just felt like sharing it. Also the memories are kinda foggy, so I don't know if it was fake or real. I think the first one happened in March 2020. Also, this was through the mailbox thing in township so that's probably why it's a coincidence.

Animal Tokens (Same as den tokens, but aj.) Along with asking for possums but i guess it was a common ask. I just found this funny. I also asked for making our own clothing as well

Nobody is going to believe me here, but I created pixelated wings when I first started playing the game. I tell this to a lot of people. I am still really mad that they didn’t credit me but I still can’t do anything about it, and it took me almost two years to get pixelated wings for myself.

I remember seeing a video of qw072 designing itmes for the design a clothing items about 2 years ago and one of the items that she designed was a plunger hat and Idk how long ago but remember that a plunger hat was added into the game LONG AFTER the contest and ik aj legally owns your art but still!!

I designed a parasaurolopus and colored it yellow in one of the archasaur contests, then i took a break. I came back and saw the parasaraulopus as an actual dinosaur and i was pretty excited! Though no signs of my art was shown to people and i wasn't credited, and since my mp was deleted since i uninstalled ajpw.. none of it was left. Kinda heartbreaking Edit: i don't think i won since i wasn't given the prize so...

Well idk if this is true 100% or not, but i thought this one person named JetPaw like a long time ago made a design for if zebras were in animal jam, and then when it came out it looked a lot similar to jetpaws concept. Ajhq isnt too good at it. Sorry if wrong but... its... suspicious. VERY, VERY similar to what you said about that pumpkin pet thing. Ajhq mightve done this.

I don't partake in AJ art/master blocks whatsoever. I used to remind jammers to put "your username" on their art. I new it was shady from the start.

I actually never knew that animal jams painting mini-game gave them all rights to own peoples art. I draw on animal jam because I usually get overstimulated and stressed over lots of options in art apps and webs meanwhile AJS system is designed for their main audience, kids. Makes sense animal jam but I also dislike that the only art system I use takes designs and doesn’t like crediting some artists. They need to treat it like you would art on other webs, the artists are humans and spend hours sometimes months etc etc. Maybe if they enforced some more right rules for their artist players me and many others would feel more safe using AJS art system

With the floppy bunny hat it when you clicked on it its say the username of the person who made it behind or on the bottom of the item (sammy and some numbers i forgot)

I never won the contest but I did summit really cool interesting items, hats, pets, and potions Unfortunately after the contest I did not win I will rewrite over them when there is another contest. If they are gonna make items after the other summits they should put the players name in there like always. I be a little upset if they created any of mine without my username since I erase my proof that I draw them.

I designed the pet lamb, although u probably won’t believe me but it wasn’t a contest and I thought I could design a pet just for fun so I sent my design to ajhq, then about 1-3 months later the lamb got added, ajhq didn’t add any credits at all! I don’t hv the art cos when the art update was added all of my art got deleted! I’m so annoyed with aj and I will never forgive them!!

It’s so upsetting that they do this, especially with no credit whatsoever. People work so hard just for it to be actually used in the game itself but they get no recognition for it. Hi i know im saying this 7 months after this video was made, but the way ajhq shouls get the submissions should not be through animal jam. That way artists can be credited

I think then we have to take into the account of the people who actually digitally designed the item in 3D animation and put it into the game. Most jammers have and are being given credit for their own work. And made the item possible, to be put in the game. Rendering and animating the item to work on every animal. Aswell as the fact that Putting your art anywhere on the web gives people free rein to use it (even if it isn’t right) anyone on the internet you put out there, especially when your designing art in a game. Pumpkins are very simple idea. You need to take into the account of work people put into this items in the game. The art app is their own design. Should you credit the person who designed the animal you wear EVERYTIME you do a video such as the items your wearing and the digital designer behind it. Animal jam is ‘stealing’ peoples designs, then mayby it is not best to share your art in an art contest, that mentions the item you make will be made into an item. Might I add, icy is not the nicest of person(from personally experience) , they might not want to promote her: that is my opnion. If we shall say ANY item aj makes should be credited to the artist.

Animal jam also needs to understand KIDS probably do NOT read the journal. So the credit there isnt even recognized. I myself who is not a kid barely skims through the journal ONLY when it pops up. Otherwise I NEVER check it. I did NOT know you design that literally until this very video. I am very sorry u arent being continuously credited for this.
