@K R wow man , sorry I gotta ask , what is funny , in yer opinion , cause there's some funny shit in here at times .. Chappelle , Carey, Pryor for example ?
I almost can't believe AAL went from recorded drums to this. Matt was just a flawless transition. the fact that he can play with computerized precision yet maintains a voice w/ dynamics is sublime
@@roelandbr Old I know, but early on Tosin and Misha (periphery) programmed drums. Pretty sure only on the first album because that album was all tosin.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ectogenesis (from the Greek ecto, "outer," and genesis) is the growth of an organism in an artificial environment[1] outside the body in which it would normally be found, such as the growth of an embryo or fetus outside the mother's body, or the growth of bacteria outside the body of a host.[2] The term was coined by British scientist J.B.S. Haldane in 1924.[3][4]
Tosin Abasi is the Jimi Hendrix of this generation, I think. He is just that much a genius and visionary. I have got to get this album, because I rather suspect it will be one of those rewarding experiences where you hear something new every time you listen to it, and that is such a blessed rare thing, these days!
Imagine if the drummer ever looses his job. He can just apply to be a maths teacher. Interviewer: So what qualifications do you have? Matt: *plays this song* Interviewer: ... Hired...
Bad at math? Listen to AAL. You'll still be bad at math, but you won't give a damn because you'll be all turnt up. This ain't no first AAL album, but it sure is giving my speakers a workout. Well played djentle bros.
Dyslexic Deva you're going to have to venture into new territory because nobody is doing the same thing as these guys. Teramobil is instrumental metal that's also complicated and interesting.
Don't give up hope. Have you tried Mestis? (With Javier Reyes) T.R.A.M. with Reyes and Abasi? Also, there is a band a friend of mine introduced me to recently called Scale the Summit; I recommend the song Blue Sun. You can get weirder and try Planet X or my personal favorite: Virgil Donati's "In This Life". All instrumental of course ;)
By far the grandest musical performance I've ever had the privilege to witness in my entire life. They put tears in my eyes. This is the evolution of great music and we are all gifted to have it at our disposal.
You may have to wait awhile. This is a 9 string song. So far from the live shows ive watched, It doesn't seem like AAL will be playing any songs that feature his 9 String guitar... He only owns 1 9 String Ibanez. Maybe something is in the works behind the scenes for a new 9 String Ibanez. I can only hope.
+GRiMHOLD No, he used his Ibanez prototype for the whole set (save for P.E where he used his Strandberg and The Brain Dance where he used his 6 string Carvin acoustic-electric. To be honest - and maybe it's 'cause I heard the live version before hearing the album version - but it sounds so much better live and the nuances of every thump just cuts through the mix effortlessly without drowning the other parts out.
that intro is literally the most sega genesis shit ive ever heard. Phantasy Star 4 - "The End of The Millennium" or Phantasy Star 4 - "Laughter" Tosin Abasi IS blast processing
Listened to the whole album and this has to be my favorite song so far. There rest are great but that little cheeky beep beep sound just makes me smile. So much groove and pocket
I'd agree on terms of technical skills. But my opinion is that melodically speaking Affinity by Haken was just out of this world. P.S. It's just an opinion and I don't intend to start a war amongst prog fans.
Dissociation by Dillinger Escape Plan is tied or a very close second. Followed by The Violent Sleep of Reason by Meshuggah. 2016 was a great year for music
@@joshuasalgado4694 it's similar but the rythmn isn't exactly the same as in Bleed. Bleed has repeating hertas on the kick while Matt is playing some hertas with 3 16th notes on the ride
I can actually feel my spirit being restored and mind reinforced from listening to this. It's the equivalent of a health potion, brewed with a +1 Wisdom Bonus.
This band truly will pass onto history as something truly ahead of it's time, there's just nothing out there like them, absolutely no metal band can fuck wit em....
They probably sound that way because they rarely "jam." They usually practice separately until it's perfect, then play together until they're perfect. That's how Tosin said they practice, I added the part about them being perfect.
Dope. I love how each instrument (other than the soloist) has a fast silence between each note. I think it's because each instrument is gated with a fast attack.
Sidenote: Drinking coffee before listening to any song on this album is potentially dangerous. Lets just say when 2:44 hit my bowels were thumping to the beat. XD
DharaosGaming I was unable to keep my bowels from jiving, took them to the shitter hall where I'm currently sitting by. my lord can my bowels jive to this. awesome track shiza
Because djent is a sound more than a genre. However, people do not see eye to eye on this. Almost all AAL songs have some djent-type sound in them though. That's my two cents.
