1.) It’s really hard for me to imagine Pooh being voiced by anyone who isn’t Sterling Holloway or Jim Cummings. 2.) It’s really surprising how out-of-character most of the animals are here. Pooh being the one to know about stranger safety is odd since he is usually very innocent, simple-minded, and welcoming to anyone he meets. Rabbit being a magician makes absolutely no sense since he’s always been a no-nonsense stick in the mud. Eeyore sounds too cheerful to be himself. And it’s especially odd for Tigger to be wary of strangers when he is usually the one who ignorantly intrudes on other people’s privacy.

Pooh's voice was done with this and WELCOME TO POOH CORNER by the late actor Hal Smith, who's best known today as Otis the town drunk from THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, but he had a HUGE career in voice acting from the 60s to his death in the early 90s (his voice probably best known as the voice of Goliath AND most of the adults from the stop-motion religious show DAVEY AND GOLIATH). He also voiced Pooh in two animated shorts, A DAY FOR EEYORE and WINNIE THE POOH LEARNS ABOUT THE SEASONS and bridged the gap between the retirement of Sterling Halloway and the iconic Jim Cummings taking over the role (I always call his entries the "POOH FLU" years as his voice makes it sound like Pooh has a stuffy nose).

This was done during the show "Welcome to Pooh Corner." The whole series looked like this. Back in the late 80's early 90"s people looking to take children did these kinds of things. It was a scary time for kids. Somebody needed to warn them about the dangers. This was the least scary why they knew to try and help them. How do you talk about something without really talking about it. They had to tell the kids not to let people touch there privets some how, and this was all new to everybody. Cut them a little slack. I loved "Pooh Corner" as a kid and did not find the costumes scary in any way. I still love everything Winnie the Pooh and go and see it when ever I can.

I grew up on this. Welcome to Pooh Corner, Disney's Mousercise , it was actually not a big deal. I don't understand why people find dolls and things like dolls "Creepy" other examples we had at the time include New Zoo Review and Dumbo's flying Circus. And yes I did see this special as a kid too. Barely remember it. If you want to see other specials that were out at the time check out Mickey's birthday, Donald's Birthday, Universal Studios Earth day , Loony Toon s anniversary and the Flistones anniversary Eh, in the 80s messages were very clear, Strangers bad family friends and cops in uniform good, drugs bad, drinking bad, smoking bad, litter bad. there were no exceptions. I don't recall ever hearing that some times strangers can be nice and some times people you know can hurt you. I think the message changed closer to the 2000s since I never heard it that way as a kid. I also grew up on Georg Washington cut down a cherry tree, Columbus discovered America, Pluto was a Planet, Christianity is the only religion, if a girl says "No" she really means "Yes" playing with a Princess Liea toy or a She-Ra will turn you gay, The Simpsons are the Hight of immorality, Bill Cosbey is a good roll model, Its ok to have a female room mate if you are pretending to be gay, Virgins are total losers, all teens are perverts and that's why they are so cool, its best to just ignore a bully and pretend they don't exist Working at McDonalds is a job that goes no place and labels you as a looser who couldn't do better, only mentally challenged kids grow up to be plumbers, electrinos or carpenters, Volcanos killed the dinosaurs, four food groups, the food pyramid, computers were severely under estimated, every home should have a full set of encyclopedias, and just a LONG list of other things Adults or TV and movies or other kids my age told me at some point that turned out to be bad advice. the generation before me grew up on Asepsis, Lead Paint, Communism, Mercury, Plutonium, locking women in insane asylums for having mood swings, etc. It feels like every generation had there life full of bad advice. I actually don't remember the "Privet parts" [art I must have blocked it out.

Ah, Welcome to Pooh Corner. Back in the days when Disney Channel was a premium channel and there were no ad breaks. And the chars were voiced by the Teddy Ruxpin stars. Yeah, this is way before my time and my mom didn't even have cable. But I've seen plenty of Disney Channel recordings from before they added ad breaks. It's kinda funny, though. These stranger psa episodes don't usually mention the fact that a lot of childhood abuse, sexual and otherwise, come from people the child knows. Teachers, parents, older family members and authority figures in general. Not always from complete utter strangers.

I laughed so hard at your reaction to Eeyore's thistles line. It's a very character-specific joke because thistles are his favorite food...but I'm not sure if that was ever brought up in any of the classic cartoons. It's definitely in the original books.

I didn't know Kevin Spacey played as Winnie the Pooh. No wonder he's banned in China.

2:54 I think Pooh meant he himself is too smart for strangers, not that he is a stranger himself. 9:03 It has been established in other Winnie the Pooh media that Eeyore likes to eat thistles.

Happy to see the rest of Welcome to Pooh Corner is lost to oblivion until we can find them all! In fact, we got the better puppetry series that came after, the Book of Pooh which is just plain adorable compared to this! Also, since Animat loved YTPs, and I am a part of the YTP Community(even I have the same taste as him in funny internet videos), we wouldn't forget that the Book of Pooh brought us the 'Brain Drain' episode which became an internet meme/RU-vid Poop source!

The eyelid lines are so creepy. You know what? There's another movie called "The Book of Pooh"~2001 featuring the Hundred Acre Wood folks and a blue bird named Kasey (is she in anything else with Pooh?). It used puppets in Christopher's room while Christopher's at soccer practice. I think only the owl blinks (I could be wrong). But it looks so much better and not creepy like this one. And the sets look more interactive unlike the flat backgrounds here. Can they even use those doors?
@zigalkodonverven3862
@zigalkodonverven3862 6 лет назад
It had a series? Why did they add the Christopher's room interstitchals to it like a box film? It was a series? I just have (or had?) the VHS, never saw it on air. Or was it a special?

So a series with better puppets and storybook sets than the garbage AniMatt had to sit through.

Well, I can honestly say I'm glad I never heard of this when I was a kid; I probably would have never watched Winnie the Pooh again if I did. Awesome reaction, Mat. Honestly had no idea you were also into RU-vid Poops. Had you seen one called Nightmare Before Christmas Who: Skellington's Revenge by MoBroStudios, because that is a really good YTP
