It’s actually a good way to explain her crazy. She’s not able to tell if an idea is good or bad. She’s just doing her own thing and is convinced it will work
Well, then batshit crazy worked apparently, because the she's still in business after 10 years, has had a lot of positive coverage, and a 'hit': www.what-franchise.com/news/tatty-bumpkin-childrens-franchise-proves-a-hit-north-of-the-border "She has subsequently developed the company herself into the successful business it is today, winning numerous awards for it business activities as well as being named one of the top 100 ethical companies in the UK. Tatty Bumpkin has a licensing deal with TUI travel, Canvas Holidays and First Choice to deliver classrooms in their overseas holiday clubs" So the Dragons can get fucked.
Red John obviously she has plenty of money to invest in media, ads and product development. that doesn't mean she's profitable. she basically said so in the video. maybe she found some help and she's doing great as you say... I just don't think so
MrTimmu67 Good one mate. I can’t make you an offer for your project but I see the potential. Many miss the point of parenting. You want to immobilise your kids. That keeps them out of your hair. I would like to buy energy bars that drain the activity levels from my kids. Then I can relax with a beer and movie while they snore softly in the background. Can I preorder a couple of your jackets?
Honestly she’s better suited as a preschool teacher. That energy, the creativity, would be really well suited in that style of classroom. But, as a business? No.
Dont know about where you guys live but here popular yoga teachers make $400/hr with their group clases. Its good business. This lady had $250K to invest. Not a total nutcase eh?
Have you ever heard of Amanda Action Club? (www.amandasactionclub.co.uk/franchise) It's something similar and my daughter loves it - I have to go there and jump for an hour every week. £5. Thirty other happy children.
@@aclstudios Except Apple itself. "Apple is committed to the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility and ethical conduct" which is the same as this woman saying it about her business
Peter: Capital Tej: Vitamins Deborah: Patent Duncan: Health Jenny: Out James: Kind Touker: Office Space Theo: Children’s Inheritance Hillary: an actual Dragon Hotel: Trivago
Deborah barely ever mentions patent, what are you talking bout? and Theo mentions child safety more than inheritance, Tej also mentions 'helping build the brand' in every video....pls make those corrections
James is honestly the best dragon that ever came into the den , respectful , Firm and fair , his tone is never condescending or disrespectful even when the idea is absolutely crazy , straight up classy
Whenever I watch something scary on youtube, I often find myself reading comments while expecting the scary moment to pass, because I'm too afraid to scroll up and look at the video. I'm reading comments right now. I can hear her dancing with the puppet in the video above.
Same here, I get soo nervous which is strange because I have nothing to worry about but watching each individual that go on there is just terrifying, I don't have the guts for that unless I was really in need of the money.
Whenever I want to laugh, I scroll through the comments, this comment did not disappoint and my laughter drowned out the sound of the dancing. hahahahaha!
Deborah said he was the only one that didn't socialize with the other dragons outside the show. He did seem like a thoughtful guy, not surprised to hear he dodges tax most wealthy business people do.
You know what I like her. She's energetic and believes in her product, yes she looked silly but that energy and dance took some balls. A lot of respect.
@C A Caan drew criticism when he was caught on camera offering to buy a baby for his brother for £725 from a family that was a victim of the 2010 Pakistan flood despite having a multi-million pound net-worth at the time. He later stated that he regretted the incident and described his behaviour as "clearly wrong"
Yeah I like the way he engages people. Classy and empathetic. You rarely see him get flustered or rude. Cool guy. I've not looked up the news story people mentioned here. That is pretty shocking if true.
I like him and the baby thing we can knock back as him being too close to a situation and not thinking straight. But, the stories of how he swindles the people he invests in with high interests is where it gets real nasty.
The fact that she had the figurative balls to go dancing to promote her product, was energetic and welcoming of the critique, and didn't butt heads with their suggestions shows a clear compasion for her product. I'm sorry if it made you uncomfortable on account of second hand embarrasment, but as someone who works with kids, I think she did great
Alec Stapley It’s legitimately the worst part about Dragons Den. Say what you want about Shark Tank, but the narrator only interjects after the introduction to recap what’s happened after the return from the ad break.
Rabbeseking has made the claim that Shark Tank's 'less is more' approach to narration makes it more enjoyable to watch than Dragon's Den, but will Alec Stapley, who made the original comment highlighting this, be issuing a reply? Or will he simply give a thumbs up and say no more?
@@DirtyMike124x I'm willing to enter a marriage agreement with you, but I'm afraid I'm going to want a 50% share of all your property. I'm willing to drop this to 40% if all of my love is returned within 18 months.
asked "who is this character?", she did a bizzare dance. she made a couple brief references to "ethical" & "sustainable", but i don't know anything about the world or story she's selling.
Don't worry about any of that.. worry about the legions of naturally gifted less systematically inclined to be "educated" children, who have their "slot" at capitalizing their stake in society pushed aside and compromised, in order to over promote people like this, in the name of social engineering. So "society" and it's "leaders/overseers" stay in their positions irrespective of THEIR abilities and competency.
She didn't come across as very nice to me. She kept trying to talk over the dragons, interrupted them; she was argumentative, as well, not to mention downright delusional! And that's saying nothing of how utterly cringey and airy-fairy she was. I haven't felt that much fremdschämen since my dad got drunk at my sister's wedding at tried to hit on one of the bridesmaids.
@@TheGalacticEmperorOfLabels she's just trying to make some nice stuff for kids. Wasting her time and money in naivete but her heart's in the right place.
Creating a cartoon for the express purpose of selling products to children - what an ethical (and also very novel) idea! This woman deserves a nobel prize for sure.
Robbie Gee, PhD, Esq. this was definitely the best line up of Dragons. The only thing missing is a curled up Hilary Duff, in her true Draconic form, atop a pile of gold in the corner.
Her product is garbage from a marketing standpoint and a design standpoint it's total crap he's correct it doesn't send any message it's not particularly eye-catching I don't know what her cringe-worthy little dance thing was even supposed to be about super lame
I think Deborah has got a lot of unnecessary stick over the years. 8:18 She's constructive in her advice without being horrible and is consistently keeps it real, without ego.
It’s a yoga company for children now! I wish she opened up her pitch with the dance. Bless her for trying to make it a mainstream cartoon but that was v ambitious
Wow! She's wearing a magic necklace that changed from being big silver spheres to a flower with red beads! This is amazing, how didn't anyone pick up on THAT for a product to take to market?
This so funny to watch because I remember Tatty Bumpkin from primary school, one of the most fun times of the day, when we all used to gather around and have some fun... dragons were severely wrong in their judgement of this product because clearly it's done well.
An "ethical teletubbies." -- So instead of a cute baby in the sun it'll be Greta Thunberg's face glaring down at them, "I shouldn't be up here, I should be in school".
I'd take her into that elevator and show her my Tatty Bumpkin. She's strangely attractive. I don't understand why. Maybe I have a thing for hyper preschool teachers?
Sam Petter - Creator & Founder In 2018 she won Kent (Maidstone) business woman of the year. Sam started Tatty Bumpkin in 2004 wanting to combine a holistic approach to children's development with the playfulness & creativity of childhood. From google.
So many comments here are simply insulting to Sam because of flaws in her business skills, but in my mind, she'd be great as a mother and/or in another line of work, such as a preschool or primary school teacher. She has the kind of demeanour and "vibes" that children relate to.
I am instantly put off , when they talk about " Visions" !!! I immediatelly want them to check if they have taken their meds today ! BTW , Bamboo isnt ETHICAL : Rainforests are chopped off just for MONOCULTURING Bamboo-Plants... I am really shocked at the Naitivity of this "visionary" Lady !
Tell that to the father and son from australia that made over a million bucks selling bamboo toothbrushes. Here's the link. Its all about biodegradable sustainability . You gotta be crazy to make it.
Bamboo CAN be both ethical and very eco-friendly depending on where and how it is harvested and produced. You’re right that it often isn’t sustainably produced but it certainly has the potential to be much more ecologically responsible than wood or other products.
@@vp922 Simple you say? You know in a lot of these cases where they market soy products and "sustainable" bamboo products, entire ecosystems are destroyed due to deforestation to plant said "sustainable" product
Appears to be doing quite well, with franchises across the country. Still probably not generating the sums of money the dragons would be interested in - but has multiple revenue streams with children's albums and cartoons. Sometimes crazy creatives hit on something.
At the end of her little routine she goes “well done guys”, camera cuts to the dragons dead expressions which was the funniest part of the whole thing....
5:39 Some people love talking about the more positive aspects of their lives. Some of these people don't take criticism well "What can't you do" is great question to ask them. Because the ones that say "there's nothing i can't do", you'll find, are potentially difficult to work with. Particularly when things aren't going well Theo was desperate to get through to her but she was on cloud 9
