​@kermitSewerSlide imo "it's over isn't it" is the most heartbreaking and soul crushing one and no other song compares, but I also found "here comes a thought", "what's the use of feeling blue","drift away" are pretty close after. "full disclosure" is kinda moody as well, "do it for her" talks about dying for someone because you only live for them (again Pearl with her melancholy rip), "tower of mistakes" is really short but sad as well. When Pearl, Greg and Steven left and Pearl sang "it's over isn't it" all the songs themed around it were sad tbf.

I even like to think of this song as Plankton thinking of the old days when him and Mr. Krabs were friends, before the formula tore them apart (he doesn't want to admit it, but it tares him up inside. Plus in this context, it would make the song much more sad)

Brief Plot Summary (W.I.P S1) Spongeven Universe and the Crystal Fish - Patrathyst, Garnward, and Pearl, - go on adventures to defeat monstrous beasts across the seven seas. However, Spongeven’s universe is rocked when he finds a mirror with a helmet on it, responding to his conversations and actively talking to him. The other Crystal Fish try to stop Spongeven, but he eventually frees the animal inside - Sandy Lazuli. From there, she swims up to the shore to return to a place named “Shoreworld.” This reveals to him the existence of other (non-Crystal Fish) creatures, in turn also revealing that the monsters he fought were once Crystal Fishes like Patrathyst and Garnward. Soon after, a green fin-shaped submarine lands in Bikini City. On it are Sandy Lazuli, Karendot, and Larryasper. They take the Crystal Fish as hostage, and begin a trip to Shoreworld. However, the Crystal Fish manage to defeat Larryasper and Karendot, in the process revealing to Spongeven that Garnward is 2 different fish in a trenchcoat (explaining his many legs). These 2 fish are Mr Kruby and Mrs Puffire. After the submarine crashes, Larryasper puts themself and Sandy Lazuli, but Sandy manages to force them up into the ocean surface using lasso chains. Meanwhile, Karendot flees from the Crystal Fish and hides out in the depths of the Ocean.
