New Matrix explained video EVERY WEEK! I'm working hard to cover every topic from the Matrix franchise that I love so much, so please check out the rest of my channel to watch more and subscribe to never miss a video! :-)
Underrated, everyone i know whos a fan of fhe matrix knows nothing of the animatrix. There needs to be a series based on it. From the very beginning when the engineer designs the first ai robot, to the machine occupation year(before the movie matrix but after the machines have won). It also been said aliens tried attacking the machines and the machines managed to ward them off.
That's exactly right, in the matrix comic called Goliath, the machines use a human to pilot a spacecraft and defend earth from an alien. I created a video al about that so please check my channel to see :-)
Imagine another series like the Matrix except, instead of the simulation being completely fictional, it ends up more like the Tron Universe in the computer!.. Like a #TronRiSEofTheMATRiX instalment of the Tron series... Though maybe with an intergalactic multiverse crossover, of Computer worlds in particular!???
It was a big mistake when I saw this for the 1st time in 2010, I can't believe they put this in the same movie bundle with polar express and Final Fantasy 7. I had nightmare watching that. I was only 10 years old.
Oh man, I saw this when I was around that age as well. The second renaissance PT 1 and 2 really messed me up for a couple of days, but I wonder, did it have a meaningful impact on your philosophies on how we should interact with machines or humanity? It did for me.
It would be Interesting if they'd make a Matrix movie based on the 2nd Renascence A.I and the fall of human civilization and the birth of the first program of said Matrix ...
This is the direction I was hoping the 4th matrix film would take. I'm a diehard matrix fan but I have to say I wasn't really a fan of the new movie. didnt feel like a matrix film to me. Don't really like any of the wachowskis films other than the early matrix movies, cloud atlas was alright,. but thats all i have to say
my friend had a really cool theory on the setting of detective one, there are different servers of the matrix where the machines experiment with different settings, in this case the 40s however; machines cannot concieve of a world without technology and computing, which is why theres still hacking and computers
I love how even back then in the movie the robots knew that cheap products were the way to thrive or cripple any nation. A little more relevant now that Amazon is one of the big 3 tech giants including microsoft and google.
I saw this back when I was child and didn't understand at all. Thank you for the video, it made it interesting to see what was actually happening. Pretty awesome.
You're not alone! Some of the Animatrix is quite confusing, I would even say some of it is more confusing than some parts of The Matrix trilogy. I just released a new Matrix Explained video about the weird tracking bug that the Agents put into Neo, so please check it out :-)
Then check my Matrix Comics video from about 6 months ago because I'll explain 10 readons why you _should_ read them :-) There's a whole collection of about 30 Matrix Comics!
@@JamPunchStorytelling I'll give it a peak but here's my question, does the comics take place prior to the movies, during the present timeline, or after the deaths of Smith and Neo?
Wow this takes me back to the days as a kid when I was watching the extras on the Matrix reloaded DVD over and over again. I was blown away by the world record story :)
well there's some arguments there: a) being a robot, it doesn't entirely know it's strength b) being a robot, it only understands the level of force & violence that must be inflicted to destroy a robot such as itself and may have inflicted this level of force & violence because it only understands strength from it's own frame of reference c) being a robot, it's idea of self defense is entirely different than a humans. i suppose if humans had skull crushing strength, you would find several instances of popped skulls in the act of self defense d) you personally being a human thinks the level of violence it inflicted on that human was disproportionate, when it may have been inline with robot morality c) it is often the offended party who chooses the response and decides what it is, whether disproportionate or not and the robot could have felt that any lesser of a response wouldn't have been sufficient
@@i-never-look-at-replies-lol while most of your points make sense {A} is silly being a machine it would absolutely understand its own strength and abilities I'm inclined to believe that the machine snapped for lack of a better word and that's why it was such an extreme level of violence
The emp blast from it would permanently disable all the robots. Whoever wrote the story didn't understand the physics of nuclear blasts which are extremely devastating to machines and computers. The electric magnetic pulse would melt the insides of the computer.
@@dankwedd_yt8197 the trilogy is full of inconsistencies and overlayed messages. As an example, maybe the machines wanted to show that they can win without using even a fraction of their power so they used scout robots to dispatch the zion?
12:22 Trinity is referred to as Red Queen here. In the new Matrix Resurrections trailer, the lyrics "Red Queen" are spoken during a scene in which Trinity is present.
Always loved Animatrix, A Detective Story is like.. If the Matrix exists, a space within the Matrix all bugged out like this would also exist. And i love the light atmosphere of this episode sandwiched in the seriousness of the rest. Cant wait for Matrix 4.
Thank you! If you're interested in The Matrix and looking forward to The Matrix 4 then please subscribe because I'll be releasing a new Matrix Explained video every week until The Matrix 4 release date :-)
Yes that's my theory, hopefully that's come across in in videos :-) I've mentioned that in a few. There'll be video all about the Spoon Boy coming next
Forgot to add a little tidbit to The Kid, its Michael Popper, the kid who neo and trinity meet when they return to zion, Neo says the same thing in that scene, that he didn't save him, he saved himself. He also helps reload the APU's during the battle of Zion.
WE NEED A FULL BLOWN OUT SHOW OR MOVIE OF THE 70 YEAR MACHINE WAR ANIMATED! Am i the only one who wants a show about it? If not I'll make it like how Vivziepop made shows independently!
Awesome nostalgia trip man, subbed!! I've been revisiting the Matrix films and the Animatrix to get ready for the Matrix 4. Also, what music did you use in the video? Sounds very Juno Reactor like, I love it.
i never understood why the machines didn't just clear the sky? the first matrix movie is theorized to be hundreds if not a thousand years since humanity fell. did they never try? how could a race of advanced ai not be able to tackle nanite clouds?
Because Matrix story is non-science fiction. Meaning, there are things which "can not be" in real world - including this one: indeed, advanced AI capable to beat all the combined might of human militaries around the globe - can not remain unable and/or unwilling to clear the sky and use the most powerful (net grotto) power source available at Earth surface - sunlight. Yet another such thing - is "endless bioelectricial energy of human body", which also can not be in real world: energy does not appear from nothing, and for human body case - energy the body uses to maintain its temperature, generate electrical currents within its nervous system, and drive all the biochemical processes - comes from net total greater energy human body consumes via ingesting certain chemical substances: proteins, hydrocarbons, fats, etc. Which substances are made mostly by living plants which use sunlight to gain the energy to begin with. Meaning, without sunlight, there ain't no lasting source of human food (as there ain't no energy income to make said substances) - meaning, there ain't anything to feed human bodies with for them to generate that "bioelectric energy", meaning this whole deal "turning humans to batteries" - is just a fantasy of the same, non-science fiction, kind. Yet another fantasy of Matrix universe which can't possibly happen in any kind of able-to-function AI-driven world - is sheer irrationality of simulated (virtual) reality, i.e. insides of the Matrix. For whatever reason - above or any different - any AI would need to keep any number of humans alive but pacified, it is excessively too expensive (energy-wise) to simulate whole world as we humans know it in every detail - but we know this is the case, because different humans see coordinated results when doing same things. It would be impossible, otherwise, for cooperative engineering, science and construction of any large sort to produce any desired results: laws of physics, chemistry and biology must all function the same and independently of any particular human's beliefs and observations in order for multiple humans to be able to do anything big together, when each single human only does a small part and have no idea about the entirety of the thing designed / built / created. But this sort of (insanely expensive and detailed) emulation - is not needed to pacify any number of individual humans: we know that human body can be kept in "vegetative" state by sedating and/or lobotomizing (for a simple term) the person. The body will still perform all its functions, as it's different parts of the human brain to maintain bodyly functions (so-called "stem" brain) - and to create and maintain consiousness (so-called "upper" brain, a.k.a. "neo-cortex"). So it's complete non-science fiction to believe that any sort of Matrix - defined as it is in the movies, i.e. "neuro-simulation", designed to maintain virtual human society) - would even begin to ever exist. Etc. Thus, whole Matrix story / franchise - is a mere fairytale, a nice-to-wrap-some-action-around sort of Hollywood story, and nothing more. Don't fall victim to it.
Yes they were, that's right. That's actually a big part of the matrix story - the machines gradually develop a kind of 'emotion', e.g Agent Smith saying he "hates" the matrix, and Rama Kandra discussing "love"
Exactly, I'm only in the first half of this story, and it is a great representation of what humanity is arguably best known for, creating problems by our own hand and failing to admit when something is our fault even when all is said and done for
@@JamPunchStorytelling Nah I just occasionally like to rewatch "World Record" since that's my favorite short and I end up going down a rabbit hole, but now that you mention it, that does sound pretty exciting!
Whenever someone tells me they’re a huge matrix fan but they never saw animatrix I’ll grab the DVD and show them the second renaissance part 1 & 2 and blow their mind. And then kid’s story (mouse I think was his name in the movie) and then if they’re still interested I’ll show them the rest of the ani’s and then I tell them about all the secret scenes from the matrix game. I unlocked a lot of them, but ironically it would GLITCH a me in a LOT of parts, my character would get stuck in a corner unable to move, a few other weird glitches (wasn't part of the story, was a literal glitch and I ended up getting p*ssed and not being able to unlock all the extra scenes. But now in the future with the power of the internet I am seeing they’re on RU-vid so I can finally watch them. It was a good game but per usual they released it too soon to align with the movie release, so it was glitch galore. 🤷♀️
3:11 These are the first initial power plants that the first 'vanquished' human beings were used for, after the sun went out they immediately turned upon humans for power and later contrived the idea of the matrix and proposed it to humanity.
I have absolutely no idea if it is intentional, but a bit of headcanon for me is that, among other things, _The Animatrix_ shows us that everyone interprets the Matrix slightly differently. All the stories have different art styles, and the "world's" ascetics are all different, technology like the detecvtive's computer don't match each other. Even the look of the Agents don't line up film to film. That's because everyone plugged in, either still in a pod or hacking in from a ship or Zion or whatever, processes the information a little differently, and thus it "looks" a little different to each of them. Any two people discussing the world around them would simply have any errors or gaps resulting from conflicting descriptions smoothed over by the Matrix's programming. Like I said, just some headcanon; but I really like what it implies for the universe of _The Matrix_ franchise.
Wow maybe that's right!! Lana Wachowski definitely appreciates the more artistic emotional interpretations of her films. I _just_ released a new video comparing the Matrix script to the Matrix movie so please check it out :-)
this style of anthology animation with various artists was really popular back then, with series like Batman's short, Dead Space.... even on music like Britney Spear - Break the ice or Linkin Park - Breaking the habit.
@@JamPunchStorytelling What would have happened if Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, niobe, and all of the citizens and leaders of Zion found out this information about Humanity's dark history Imao it would literally break their spirits to find out that their ancestors were the ones responsible for the situation that they have been in, Neo would question is Humanity really worth Saving, Morpheus would be shocked, horrified, and disgusted that Humanity would actually be capable of such evil Acts, Trinity would just have an emotional breakdown wondering what reason was she fighting for if Humanity does messed up things, the people of Zion would have a mass existential breakdown
@Brandon Garcia What would have happened if Neo Morpheus Trinity niobe and Zion found out this information about Humanity? Would the Matrix sequels be the same if they found out that their ancestors were why they are plugged in the Matrix
@@naquingreen1603 Second Renaissance is from Zion's archives, so some people do know. Probably just the Council but still. It doesn't really change Zion's immediate needs in the movies though: surviving annihilation by the Machines.
The Matrix series (and Animatrix) is one of my favorite universes and movie series of all time. Great video and explanation of the timeline and theories of the Animatrix shorts. I did find the white line at the bottom and the moving "JAM PUNCH" to be distracting.
Damn i wish the runner robot appears in new matrix movie. I really want the matrix story to end with humans finally winning against machines and starting again.
What if it ends with us beating the machines only to realize it was actually humans masquerading as machines within the matrix and holding the humans hostage.
Matrix 4 had better blow some minds because this 20 year old story is starting to feel dated. Cyberpunk is literally now so we'd best hop to making friends with machines before other machines rip us away from our friendly machines (or we kill ourselves in a panic attack because we don't trust machines to be friendly.) On some real talk, I shed more tears for the robot at the end of this movie than I ever intend to for any human.
Yeah The Animatrix is quite sad. Also... soon... I'll be be releasing the ULTIMATE MATRIX TIMELINE GUIDE that will cover all Matrix comics and games and movies too!
There's something so uncanny about the fact this is animated and not a movie im not disturbed by the Matrix movies but this makes me so much more uncomfortable ...
The high school modeled in kids story is my actual hs. Has always tripped me out. Also world record is one of the best pieces of media i have ever seen
I love this movie collection but at the same time I have this passionate hatred for it, only really because of how amazing it looked for it’s time and how it worked pretty well with horrifying imagery of war. I’d gladly watch it again, but I’d probably need a couple years before watching it again lmao
When I first saw the animatrix as a kid that movie kept bouncing in the back of my head like, shit what a clusterfuck of universe Neo and the other lives in.
We are living in a Matrix... You see it when you turn on your television. It's a false reality that people in control are feeding us so that we'll give up our freedom so they can achieve their plans for the world. They control the news, education, history, and even what's allowed on their tech social media platforms. The real world makes so much more harmonious sense when you see it, the fake one on TV and in the textbooks has all kinds of contradictions.
bless all forms of intelligence. every time i rewatch this anthology, it puches my soul and rips my gut out. so many forms of bigotry still remain in our reality, im not sure if anyone has learned the lessons behind these tales. when my grandchildren are older i will watch this with them, and instigate much discussion on the kindness we should impart no matter whom a good soul is worth.
depend on the places, even now we already have robot created to be more like human and you don't see people riot over it. For any story to work, it will have to go for worst case possible for the plot to happen but in the real world, us human have no problem accept technology keep on progressing.
Oh, cry harder, Bleeding-Heart. Most "bigotry" is just realization of the reality that every one/group/way *ISN'T* equal or good, and, that the better shouldn't be hobbled/corrupted/diluted by the worse.
Well yes, but the Animatrix is a collection of short stories that are not presented in chronological order. Second Renaissance comes first, but Final Flight of the Osiris comes last, yet that's not the order they are shown in the menu.
Enter the Matrix picks up right after Final Flight of the Osiris, where Niobe and Ghost retrieve the package from the post office. Then the game gets mixed in with Reloaded, so near the end Niobe and Ghost are going through the power plant to blow it up so Neo can reach the room with the Architect.
I'm very happy to enlighten you! :-) The matrix universe is much bigger than the films - there's also Matrix video games and Matrix comics! I've made a video about the matrix comics so please watch it on my channel
What's funny is I'm rooting for Neo and the Humans in the films but feel empathy for the Machines in the Animatrix... It's like infinity ♾️ I can't comprehend it...
I had always thought that alexia was absorbed into the runner and that's why she screamed in horror then the runner sitting outside was a mix of the robot and her mind
I thought she screamed in horror because their experiment backfired on them. I thought the robot forced her to be stuck in that program to be with him as she realizes that a computer program can never fully comprehend the complexity of human emotions. This was the closest it could come to approximating the emotion of love and that it unintentionally subjected her to the worst possible fate imaginable (imprisonment without the chance for escape) because it tried to understand that concept, but failed. In a sense, she created her own worst enemy and it backfired spectacularly. Her consciousness is now stuck in that robot until it gets destroyed or that program is deleted and who knows how long that will take. Decades? Centuries? Maybe never.
forgot to mention that it's implied that Dan has some sort of psychic ability now (like Neo), iirc one of the screws from his braces briefly levitates a bit
Duo and Cis. Duo regrets taking the pill and wants to go back to his not true self. Cis is comfortable in her true self. Even in the Animatrix the Wachowski sisters were using allegories with pretty clear messages about gender identity. I find it formidable. This is why SF is so important.
I always thought all along the Matrix series were about rebeling against social norms. & eventually acceptance of the Wachowski into transitioning to her true self. It's all over the movies
ha! To be fair, The Animatrix basically is a fever dream. Matriculated is weird af. Please subscribe because I'm releasing a brand new Matrix Explained video every week!
I watched all Matrix movies, including this one. Quite confusing because they use lots of technical terms while going too fast. I still find disturbing the fact that many fans and confused teenagers committed murder or suicide back then, because they thought The Matrix was real. I hope parents stay close to their children now that The Matrix 4 is coming. I'm sure the will be interested on checking the other movies as well.
@@jakegyllenrat4443 yup and not so much because of the 3 Matrix movies. But there was one called the "Animatrix" where many animators used the Matrix as main topic for their mini movies. In one of them, happens exactly that: a depressed student (who is inside of the Matrix and knows about the existence of the Matrix) jumps from the top of his school's building to "save himself" from some agents who are chasing him.... and from the matrix. Quite disturbing.
i didnt know about this film before a yt recommended me some of its clip, its crazy to thing that this gave me vibe of Love death robot or should i say love death robot actually copy this style of film ? anyway the film was one of the best sci fi movie i seen just like when i first saw love death robot. I genuinely enjoyed every part of it.
I just saw the Matrix Resurrections trailer and that dude that comes out in the trailer that looks like Morpheus actually looks more like Captain Thaddeus from the episode Last Flight of the Osiris. It looks like the Architect has started the war over again at this point since the actual info that the machines were digging and this is when Zion was able to prepare hence start to scamper to look for the One.
At the end of the story that takes place in The Matrix Online, it looks like the truce fails and the war reignites. So the Matrix Resurrections could take place after that war is restarted
There's glitches they're having fun with lol. Kinda like in Thor the dark world where they can throw stuff down into a invisible portal and stuff disappear or can disappear and reappear lol
For the same reason a real-life group of slaves didn't go back to Africa. Too many of their kind died in the building and cultivation of their world. Leaving would've meant that all those losses were lost in vain. They felt like they had as much right to the Earth as the Humans did.
Saddest theory I heard is that they’re still in the matrix even after “escaping”. Neo having powers while outside the matrix couldn’t be. The last conversation between the architect and oracle implies that it’s just another part of the simulation.
could have been all avoided if Humans would just co-operate with robots , adavancing both species due to knowledge and wisdom probably could have even creating hybrids Human Machines/ Machine Humans.
Actully during the beginning of the war Blow up 01 with Nuclear Weapons are very good idea in reallity machines very week to EMP and Radioactive materials And during the blast of a single Nuclear Weapon it can reach Sun temperature Manking fire power is something to fear
@@xMortalBlade cyborgs would be humans having machine parts, but still be human. Androids are machines behaving like humans. But i meant the symbiotic nature of having Nanomachines inside the human body(at least at first) the possibillitys are endless
