Anime’s Biggest Problem: Shitty Opinions & Takes 

In my humble opinion, a good female character can be both sexualized and non sexualized. They can be independent and a love interest. They can be soft and passive as well as tough as nails and more angry than a green trauma monster. The fact this putz thinks that well written and "proper" femininity consists of only of covered up women who can kick ass is kind of sexist because it ignores that women can have control of their own sexuality as well as being badass. Hell, guys (and some ladies) like badass woman (who can also be eye candy). Why not have both? I hate that he's enforcing the Madonna/Harlot dichotomy with writing female characters. This is unironically regressive and sexist. Judging Momo by her outfit is kinda fucked up. There's more to her than her 'impractical' outfit. For God's sake, she's smart and shit. That's like saying "There's nothing more to Emma Frost other than she's hot and running around and lingerie for the 'male gaze'." Despite Emma being able to turn into diamonds. Oh and her telepathy. Not to mention that she dresses like a lingerie model because she loves attention. Not because male patriarchy. If anything, it's more using a guy's other thinking head to her advantage. (Yes I know comparing a comic former villain turned kinda anti hero to anime is stupid but it frustrates me when people only judge a character by their outfit.). Uh, Full Metal Alchemist was written by a woman. With pervs. First off, with the annoying/funny perv. If I may bring a western animation example of this phenomenon. Don't make him watch Johnny Bravo. For the record, Johnny Bravo is funny because every time he hit on a woman. He got the shit beaten out of him. Not because he's a perv. With Hisoka, I like Hisoka as a character. Not because he's creepy but because he's more flamboyant than Elton John collaborating with the Village People. Not because he's creepy. If somehow me liking Hisoka because he's fabulous is a minimization of abuse. Yeah, that perception can get bent as it ain't my intent at all. With Berserk, abuse and trauma are huge themes (and I think that it handles this topic decently) and it's a disservice to just see it as "torture pr0n" without purpose. There is purpose. Yeah it's graphic purpose but still. With the "two types of anime fans" shit. Yeah, I like anime because I think it's art style is cool and I love the chibi characters. Oh and I like that some characters have glasses. Not because of perceived creepy shit. Also, nice use of a Serial Mom clip.

Bro my jaw dropped when this is chris started calling everyone pedo's. Like I don't think he understands the actual meaning of that word and the effects it can have on people. Just saying the word without thinking can cause some serious damage accusing people that probably don't deserve it instead of actually focusing on the people that are actual ones nah lets just assume everyone is one and call it a day. This is chris logic. Being called one is a serious matter and can destroy people lives if just thrown around willy nilly.

If This is Chris wanted to find a character who fit the "turned into a love interest" bill he should look at Juvia Lockser from Fairy Tail. She's a prime example of a character that could've been beloved but her "Love" (More like creepy stalker syndrome) for Gray Fullbuster holds her back. Obviously by his Logic, Lucy would be a "bad character" for showing a slight interest in Natsu and she shows skin cause she's confident in her beauty; despite being one of the best developed characters outside of Gray Fullbuster, Gajeel Redfox, and Mirajane Strauss. Lucy's faults however, aren't a result of her character persay... It's chalked up to bad Narrative mistakes. Especially when a Certain Parasitic Loli (Looking at you Wendy Marvell...) got shoved into being a main character. Lucy had to be shoved on the back burner for little miss Creator's Pet to even have a "development" as Lucy would've had her stardress ability reasonably by the time Tenrou/Grand magic games came around, aside from Hiro stupidly treating her like a joke for obsense reasons. Thank you for calling this idiot out, ASM. Glad more people are calling these terrible videos out, and as someone who ACTUALLY watched MHA. Ochako said she'd PUT HER CRUSH ON IZUKU on HOLD to focus on being a hero!!! Erhm, sorry for the slight rage at that last bit. I like how Chris didn't use Black clover for any examples of good written women it proves to me he's only watching mainstream shounen and listens to mainstream opinions. JJK females are okay at best when you actually look into their writing while Black clover keeps surprising me over and over again with how well written the females are. Something else Worth mentioning is the fact that Momo having a more covered up design won't work, and you don't even need an argument, the series itself debunked this 3 times already In S1, momo creates something so big that it rips thru her back, so even if she was covered up it wouldn't matter In S2 in the sports festival arc she was the only one running with her unbuttoned, that's because she would need to create stuff immediately if need arises, so even if her design had zippers she would still zip and unzip them to create stuff, which would be inconvenient in a battle, so the best option is to just be bare naked in that area In S5 she created a canon out of her hip-stomach area, which if she was wearing something there it would get torn off just like in S1, so no zippers would be pointless Also let's be honest, the only reason why people Complain about momo's design is because she has big tits and are showing them, The red hair hero dude also is half naked yet NO one cares

I think this video was made in poor faith and is just defensive. It seems I am Chris was talking about shonen alone as it's incredibly popular. And it's very disingenuous to say anime doesn't often use women as eye candy, putting sexual looks over character development and story. If your character can't be interesting without being half naked,then it's not a good character.
