Reminder that Dark Soul's creators, From Software are a japanese company, so this isn't super out of place. Also, that using another game as a base for your own is not a bad idea. Sometimes what you want to do fits something that already exists really well.

Honestly, your beginning commentary on the character customization was my inner voice when I first started too. I have no shame, only admiration.

I know that feel with the character creator. Lost an hour before realizing I could dress my character up in a neon green gimp suit and that sealed it for a while. The hotsprings are for reviewing cutscenes. It uses your current armor so if you feel like a laugh, bring your silliest outfit to the most serious moments.

So a few random tips to help you for future playthroughs of Code Vein: - You can remove the wings in the character creator/editor in the Home Base, so if they really are too much even when you made them red, they can be removed. - Go slowly when exploring new areas. Don't rush in or you risk getting swarmed by enemies hiding around corners. Ideally, you can even try to pull mobs one by one with a ranged attack of some sort. There's a type of Blood Veil that has a ranged attack on it even farther than the tail spear one. - EXPLORE every nooks and crannies if you can. You might find some nice goodies that way. The best goodies to find are Vestige fragments that you can restore(with Io) to fix and acquire new blood codes and abilities. Plus it unlocks more lore stuff for you to sate your curiosity for the game's story. -Saying it again, I strongly suggest EXPLORING the entire area you're in before engaging the boss of the area. It's possible to miss content because of that. Yes, there is content that can be permanently lost if you beat the boss of an area without fully exploring and obtaining all of its content. Only way to get the stuff if you did that is to replay the game in New Game+ - Speaking of Blood Codes, you probably saw you can switch them at basically any time you want. Codes are basically like a 'class' and each has its own style with its own abilities. But the most important thing is that if you equip abilities from a Blood Code and then keep killing enemies(just have the abilities of that Code equipped), you can master those abilities, which makes them available for all of your other Blood Codes. This is the key to make your own perfect, personalized custom build in this game. This also gives you a lot of flexibility on how to approach any situation you'll encounter in the game. - Leveling up is good, but don't overlevel yourself too much. 2 reasons for that. 1) You need Haze for almost everything in the game, not just your levels. Shops, weapons and armor upgrades need Haze, and unlocking new abilities on Blood Codes. Later abilities tend to be pricier in Haze costs too. And, 2) Your ability to earn exp for mastering Blood Code abilities is actually proportional to your lvl vs those of the enemies you kill. So if you make yourself super high lvl while still in starting zones, you're gonna take a long while to master gifts on your Blood Codes. - Do not try to upgrade every single weapons and Blood Veil that you find!!! Find a few weapons(or weapon types) that you enjoy most and stick to those initially. Upgrade resources will be rare at first but eventually you'll have easier way to get the materials, but until then, do not rush up your upgrades. - Make sure your Blood Code's stats works with the weapons and Blood Veil you're using, otherwise the stats/damage done by your gear will be crap! - Speaking of weapons, you can also 'transform' them which basically just alter their stats in specific ways. But you can also reverse that at anytime at the Home Base, and you can even pick a different transformation. Also, you can stack multiple 'elements' on a weapon using transformation combined with items and abilities, so you can add say, fire and ice damage on your weapon even if it might not look like it. - Blood Veils are a bit weird as an armor for your character. Upgrading them does not increase their armor stats. Instead it upgrades the damage done by their drain attacks and improves the damage/efficiency of Light and Dark Gifts. Some Blood Veils work better for Light Gifts and vice-versa, so pay attention to those stats! EDIT: Another tip!!! When you beat a boss in an area, go check back the areas you've previously cleared. There might be some new NPCs that show up for some quests of theirs. And that was more than just a 'few' tips... >_
