The first move used was psychic, which Gengar learns via TM, and the only wrong move a Pokémon used was pikachu and the made up move, but if he said wild charge instead which is basically thunder tackle, he would be right
Nick getting caught and becoming royal minion only to get bodied in his first battle is the funniest thing I've seen since Sophist trapping everyone on bad spaces with walls.
Sophist “saving” the world:”I did everything.” Brent-broken knees* Vernias-A snapped spine* Nick-Disfigured by a Cubone with Bonemerang so hard you can’t even see his body anymore*
Bro Sophist had such an underdog arc lmao. Went from losing every coin flip and having the worst early game to destroying the final boss and all its minions
Honestly, he was the good guy. Brent was comically ineffective and eventually threw medicine at Zapdos, Vernias was racist against Rattata and willingly buffed the final boss, Nick joined Zapdos...
Things I Noticed 1. Sophist is trying to be a "hero" 2. Brent and Vernias being irrational 3. Nick is calm and accepted his death. 4. Noah seems tired, and doesn't punish the Party Crashers
Sophist severed his friends limbs, made weapons out of them, and didn't even need them even after those friends intentionally buffed the enemy threefold. Truly the strongest trainer.
He did use the potion he stole though to top up Cubone at the start of the final battle. All in all, I'd say his strategy worked out. Most of his items were just pokeballs anyhow.
Sophist's arc is amazing, here it is highlighted - 2:28 - fall begins 7:59 - hope? 8:05 - nope. 10:12 - rock bottom 14:52 - Depression 16:05 - bargaining 18:15 - accepted powerlessness 24:15 - the climb begins 25:50 - meets his best friend cubone 28:10 - Sophist chooses the dark side (and Cubone breaks Brent's knees) 34:40 - Cubone breaks Vernias' knees 35:25 - Sophist steals candy from a baby, thus accepting the dark side 37:00 - Sophist knows his destiny to defeat the Zapados (Cubone breaks Brent's other knee) 48:12 - Sophist now realizes the truth of the world 49:34 - time for the finale to begin 50:08 - the iconic line "Get Boned Idiot" 51:00 - round 2 53:00 - Brent and Vern choose the wrong side leaving Sophist alone 54:33 - round 3 ( Cubone destroyes Gyarados) 56:26 - BOSS BATTLE LET'S GO!! 57:15 - arc complete! Edit : Holy shite 1K likes? damn. btw should I make music for MagicTheNoah? Edit 2 : HOW 2.2 K LIKES HOW?? Y'all please do check out my yt channel lol
it was a dang amazing arc, it was actual hype good lord. everyone was against him at the end and he climbed it. cubone under sophist soaring higher than the odds of him failing to get a single pokemon at the beginning was amazing
Cubone was destined to be caught by Sophist, not only he missed all the other encounters, but Cubone was also the only one who stayed by his side until the end. Damn what a story to witness.
This is a wonderful story. Zapdos who everyone thought was just the main prize turned out to be a player in the game and the main villain; Nick, the promising ace who fights the main villain early, is defeated and turned into a minion; Brent as the one with a plan who ended up screwing everything up just as the final fight started; Sophist, the bully who finds himself a heart as the situation becomes dire and charges the enemy with nothing but his trusted partner and his guts; and Vernias. Vaporeon, who we know is a dangerous enemy from another story, revealed herself but so far is content just watching, foreshadowing the sequel. You could make a film out of this.
Also there's the fact that Sophist made villains/antiheroes out of Brent and Vern despite at LEAST having good intentions at the end. He reached the top in a dirty way and then found himself at the point where it tragically (but deservingly and inevitably) bit him in the back... but after that, he PROVED his worth by overcoming Zapdos despite Brent and Vern sabotaging him.
@@wolfzend5964And now with a changed heart, he actually uses the Pokémon’s skills to win instead of tossing the Pokémon away, as cubone was a low power level Pokémon
And the intresting thing that i love, sophist said "DO IT FOR YOUR MOM", like he knows stuff about cubone and their mom, which is very sad and cute moment of gen. 1, that cubone would sure did made their mom proud on saving the world from zapdos, all hail to cubone
Hey Noah Ijust wanted to comment to say I love your videos and thank you so much for color-coding the subtitles based on who is speaking. I have auditory processing issues and when there are lots of folks speaking at one time the auto-captions get so confusing. I am able to fully enjoy your stuff thanks to that, and I know editing those captions is hard work, but it makes all the difference to me. You rock!
During that final fight, i just imagined cubone dual wielding the bone and lollipop while fighting pikachu, nick, gyrados, and zapdos all at once, with his moms spirit behind him
The funny thing is, this is probably how it went down for the ancient Pokemon trainers. They probably just ruled over people that didn't train pokemon lol
For sure. Nintenazi oppress it's fans big time. Might have got away with it... But then I seen the ivysaur trace. Oh yea this getting flagged. Y Nintenazi...
lets be financially responsible! i cant stop winning! i cant stop winning! i cant stop winning! i cant stop winning! i cant stop winning! (gamblecore 2)
lets go- you know ahat? im done im nit gambling im never coming back here ag- lets g lets g lets go lets go *LETS GO GAMBL-* * todays lesson, keep gamb-* (gamblecore 3)
ive lost so much money but i have to keep gambling if i want to win! no youre just not doing it right man, its all in the feet. oh yea? yea, youre about to see a master at work *feet tapping* *WINNER!* *WE JUST WON 34 QUADRILLION ZILLION BILLION DOLLARS! LETS GOOO* (gamblecore 4)
Nick being the false protagonist, Zapdos being a villian with an agenda and SOPHIST being the true hero were not what I expected, but god damn was it an entertaining video.
people constantly confuse the thing with his lines tail flame. they think "if it goes out, it dies" but it's correlation not causation. in reality, the tail flame just goes out when they die, it doesn't kill them when it goes out.
"Undeserved win" My guy is the only one with a pokemon fit for dealing with zapdos and is also the only one that knows type matchups apparently Most deserved win i could ever imagine
Sophist’s character arc of going from the poor guy who can’t catch a single Pokémon and gets bullied to the villain oppressing trainers who don’t have Pokémon is so fucking sophist ngl
@@auto_correct-3361 the Penguin = TCNick3 joke Brent used to yell "Guys look, it's TCNick3" whenever he saw a Penguin, he'd call Nick a penguin, it was a huge Party Crashers joke It got to the point where Brent would see a penguin, yell just "GUYS!" with no other context and everyone else would break down in laughter
Gengar is the meta in this game because almost everything uses tackle (including players) and the Ai doesn't realize that ghost is immune to normal. Also was anyone else hoping Sophist would get pikachu and jut keep shouting I CAST THUNDER SPELL?
Dude this was actually peak, Sophist actually deserved that win more than anyone im not even gonna lie, bro came from nothing and rose to be the leader. A true pokemon master.
I love how Vern was saying undeserved, as if he or Brent deserved to win? They prayed for Sophist's downfall the entire game, Sophist just did what he could to win. That is the MOST deserved Sophist W. He fought, he thrived, he won. How in any reality is that undeserved?
@@coolguy7461 However he did that only after he finally got Cubone, and even before that they were saying he didn't deserve to win. Sophist finally got the tools to win and won with them. He deserved the win. Besides it was competitive, not cooperative.
“A player would catch a Pokémon, and then use that to oppress the other players and become an evil warlord” I’ll take ‘To the surprise of absolutely nobody’ for $500, Alex
It’s funny how Noah has connections with RU-vidrs that actually play Pokemon on their channels ( Smallant, Failboat, Fir more recently too) and yet chooses the party crashers for this video who mostly play Mario party lol. Also lightning tackle is the move Volt Tackle, a signature move of Pikachu lol.
Vernias: "You guys are horrible people for beating up a Rattata". Also Vernias: IMMEDIATELY tries to steal Brent's Squirtle when he learns you can do that. The constant hypocrisy of this man will always be amusing.
Sophist being the underdog then becoming a hero. The Metapod destroying Brent and dissapearing. And Zapdos being the villain with his pokemon army and being charged for kidnapping.
Great ending. Sophist really deserved that win. Good strategy and execution. He could have cheesed it by using endless HP-up-Potions on his cubone though^^ Nice relaxing video :)
32:55 Indeed! Next time for sure! Man, Sophist was the real hero of this. He showed his superior Pokemon knowledge, & won despite all the bad luck & the other players being against him. Anyway, okay run video! Thanks for uploading! Looking forward to more like this from you! (Also, the move's name is VOLT TACKLE! It's literally Pikachu's signature move!)
@BallinJesus sophist is definitely the goat. Has that chaotic neutral energy. The board where they had to roll what direction they moved and he walled everybody off in the bad space zone was just so perfect.
@AndrewA60 yeah I don't dislike any of them. Honestly without vernias there sophist would be boring cause he wouldn't have anyone to antagonize so well.
Be like Sophist, an optimist who never gave up, got more powerful due to stealing item slots, and saving the human race. Don’t be like the Pessimists of everyone else, who fails at everything, and just excepted humans to be slaves by the Pokémon.
To quote from The Fighting Game Glossary by Infil: OD Is [New York slang that means "too much" or "very powerful". This is not a term that originated from fighting games, but you'll hear it used when someone loses to something really cool, strong, or ridiculous. Stuff like "that mixup was OD" is commonly heard from east coast personalities.]
Magic the Noah once again proves the universal DM rule, if you have nothing prepared (Gyrados dlc joke), the players will try to go down that route, and if you have a lot of content prepared (the extra boards), the players will somehow find a way to extend the start of the campaign to the whole session
I would like to see this done with the people more versed in Pokemon that he usually has on this show. Seeing them be absolutely baffled by the game would be hilarious as always 😂
There was a pretty good pokemon system for dnd5e that existed a while back, but it sadly got killed by Wizards of the Coast because of an IGN article. The article is titled "This Unofficial Pokémon D&D Game Works Shockingly Well" if you're interested but you can't exactly find the system anymore without some work. There's also systems like pokemon tabletop adventures and pokemon tabletop unlimited which are a fair bit more complicated but focus more on being a "pokemon tabletop" over "a tabletop game with pokemon." Also y'know those two systems still get support since WOTC can't send them a C&D.
