Anime Pilgrimage to Oarai, Ibaraki | Girls und Panzer Town

It's brought them in a lot of tourism so I think the girls are here to stay!

Might stay so for some years since it's Das Finale airs once a year, probably a two thanks to the current pandemic so..

@@GennyGen They probably will keep it for several years even after the anime/movies finishes airing. Numazu city and the town is an anime pilgrimage dedicated to Aqours from Love Live, and even if it finished airing they still keep most of the Aqours billboards, Restaurant décors, Train décor, and etc. Heck, they still run some events from time to time related to Aqours. Ooarai may also do this, they are also more likely to keep the GuP décors because... 1. Even after the anime finishes, it still would leave a mark in the anime industry and newer fans would still go to that place including OG fans. Heck, in MAL you can see a lot of GuP advertisements so it's quite popular. It's also very popular in Japan. 2. The people there have low-key become accustomed to it, so much so that GuP is part of their annual Ankou festival. 3. There are many people that live there that are also dedicated to the anime as well, such as the restaurant owners or people who decorated their place because they like the anime, just like how there are those who love Aqours in Numazu.

I do that same thing with anime!

@@uss_04 stayed in Mito! From Tokyo Station take the joban line. There's a local train that'll take about 2 hours and a faster one that'll be more like an hour but it's more expensive

Hi! Tbh I just used Google Maps and placed each place in the search. I didn't really know what I was doing when I got there, just happened across everything on the way to the beach from the station. The station has paper Maps of Oarai!

I really wanna do that some day

I stayed in Mito, the capital of Ibaraki, which is just a short train ride away! I arrived in Oarai at about 9am, got to the beach closer to 10am, then was able to walk around and see just about everything before sunset and then went back and stayed in Mito.

I havent yet seen the film, im waiting for it to play again in theaters here! But yea bikini episode takes priority haha

Getting back to the station was a bit of a pain. There are bus stop around the city that aren't on Google maps, and we found one near a hotel that was near the tori gate in the water. We were crammed into that bus for a good 40 minutes just to get back to the station but looking back it was worth the experience

@@GingerGaiden Guess that's better than walking from the Shrine all the way back to the station..while trying to rush it also since it was almost late afternoon. I thought I miss the last train since the station was mostly closed..luckily I got to the train with the GuP decor going back to Mito station.

Mostly just used Google maps to get to the beach, the tower, and the tori gate!

This place is so rural that I didn't hear English that much, however the workers at the Cafe are from the Philippines and a few of them spoke perfect English! But for everything else you should be okay just learning basic words and using gestures.

@@GingerGaiden Alright! I'm hoping I can make a few friends in Japan when I visit because foreign friends are always the best. I know a few of my friends literally joined the Army as tankers because of GuP and used their leave time to visit Japan and they had a good time there. What places to eat do you recommend?

From Tokyo take the Joban line up to Mito.The rapid train is about an hour and half. Then from Mito take a local line for about 15 minutes! Not too bad and great scenery

Happening, but masks and social distancing were key here! Cases aren't too bad in Ibaraki.

I think a lot of the locals have caught on, if it makes your business cash, they won't complain haha
