Modestly dressed, not too much make-up a beautiful song bird and such a lady... now that's the role model i had while growing up, the generation of today is truly missing out on the real thing....
I liked the fact that when she allowed the guitar player to play, that she stepped out of the light and let it be all about him. Even dancing. Such elegance, such grace. True Diva!
I'm from Chile... maybe the last place in the world to ever find a fan for Anita Baker, still... I'm here. Letting everybody know that she is worldwide recognized and loved. Her music is like coming home every time.. a place in the sunlight, a sweet morning, a lovely dawn.. but most of all.. (for me, and maybe.. hopefully for some more..) the promise of TRUE LOVE.. hard to find, hardest to recognize, but so close to imagine... some of us don't look for less.
Artist like Mrs. Anita Baker raised the bar so high that none of the flamboyant artist of today haven't been anywhere close to this... And the band... out of this world...
Just imagine, my generation had beauties like Whitney, Anita, Mariah, girl groups like En Vogue, and clubbers like Janet, and too many more to mention. All the balance we needed on the radio, in the clubs, and in our homes. And no one got famous just because they were pretty and half naked!!! BRING BACK MUSIC!!!!!!!
i love how she stepped aside and told the guitarist "do your thing" and she was hyped in the coner love it that shows the type of artist she is just plain amazing
his long play Rapture from 1986 is one of the best in the history of soul and jazz, there is no bad song and that with everything that came after it and in the middle of the 80s are big words, but it is that not only that, some are works teachers like caught in the rapture for example, her voice is especially combined with the musical arrangements and composition of the guitar, it's wonderful, enormous.
I remember when this album first came out me and all my girl friends went and got the Anita Baker hair cut it was so cool even some old ladies were there getting the same hair cut those were the good old days with good music like this.
+Lisa Lee, gurrll I rocked that hairstyle, just like you said and so did many other women. Her beauty, her smile, her voice, her singing and that hair cut ROCKED. I wanted to be Anita Baker so bad. LMAO. That entire CD was dope, every song on it was a hit.
My mom would always play this. Certified 80s baby here. I always go back to this. Never take this down. Just a blissful night I wish I could jump through the screen and be there for this concert in this time. I remember when this first got uploaded I was in college. The beginning of RU-vid, this is a time capsule song ❤❤
My mom played the crap outta this tape. The only time we didn't listen to this, was when we had to flip the cassette tape over. You remember that shit? Good times. This one was my favorite, because of the wicked intro she sings.
Just realised no one had posted on this video for 3 years despite the 337k views. Anita Baker stands and sings. Anita Baker sings just like the recording. Anita Baker looks fab. Anita Baker, thanks.
That's saxophonist Gerald Albright on the bass! Love this classic by Anita Baker. It doesn't matter how many years pass, Rapture is one CD I will never grow tired of listening too.
This sweet woman is a true angel,no need to disgrace herself with revealing clothes.Talent prevails always, and she has plenty. And to think record companies passed because they said she couldn't sing?Ha
Sem palavras perfect essa musica e essa cantora tambem eu a amo muito ,,,,, a voz feminina mais linda do mundo ,,,,, ganhou varios grammys merecidamente .bjs
I saw her in a show at Wembley, London, in the late 80s and it was the most memorable performance I have ever attended. She was magnetic, magnificent and magic!!!!
I want to see her LIVE!! No one can hold a candle to this woman. What talent, soul...and passion!!! Seriously, one of the greatest singers of the 20th century!
Today as I watch Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, and Chaka Khan I understood what the meaning of soul music is. Soul isn't this auto-tuned, simple voiced music that my generation has today. Soul is the passion of the soul where you not only sing but you SANG! If only we had SOUL SANGING people in this industry for my generation today, we, childern, would understand music more in depth. To the day that happens, Anita, Aretha, and Chaka will flow through my speakers. (: I love this song!
From a nightclub DJ. I had this album in the 90s on vinyl and used it week after week for my last song. I couldnt empty the floor with any of her songs. So classy.
I was in High School when this came out and it was my favorite- It kept me looking for the chance to get caught up in the rapture of love- I found a few and realize today life and music will never be like the 80's again
I've seen her in concert 3 times and I'll go anytime to see her whenever I get a chance. She is absolutely perfect.......I'm SOOO glad none of these so called New School FAKE singers try to remake her material. They could NEVER compare to Anita !!!

THE diva! YES, i remember that..they even called it the "anita baker cut"..she is my favorite singer ever and my mom got her hair cut like that, i was all happy thinkin she was anita baker LOL
Anita Baker, what else is there to say. Also thumbs up to the guitarist, clean crisp notes on lead then his switch to rythym chord progressions when required was impeccable.
I love loved Ms. Baker from day one, and even now her music touches my soul. She is a remarkable singer. This is a lady who did not have to dress half naked to get herself in the lime light, her voice did it all.
