this is one of those songs that i grew up hearing, but didn't pay attention to. it wasn't until i saw that white dress youtube video of her performing it live that i grew to appreciate what a great song it is. and what a great performer she is. i think she sang it better live than she did on the record!
always loved this fantastic song but it's the bridge, and coming out of the bridge into the next verse and anita's amazing scat singing at the end that absolutely thrill me. great reaction!
You are cute! You didn't even have to hear her sing a note to give 10's across the board! ;) My roommate in college played this album constantly in the late 80's.
CLASSIC ‼️Anita is the Queen of Sultry. That voice is one of a kind. No mistaking when you hear her. The Rapture album is a CLASSIC ‼️Her vocal styling is so soulful and jazzy and warm and soothing. Anything off of this album is 🔥🔥.
Oh Man shout out to my friend from my engineering days who passed away very young, he used to make me laugh singing this song completely out of tune !!!Love you Greg ! peace
I knew you would love this one! It's that intro, it immediately pulls you in. Anita's music is pure class, just smooth and silky. This whole album is back to back fire bops/10's fr but this song is one that's always on my playlist! I first heard this album as a child. My Mom had the cassette tape and would play it in the car. I can remember staring at the cover thinking Anita was so beautiful lol. Now, I own it on vinyl and play it frequently. Her whole aura is classy, sensual and warm......love Anita Baker!
1986- when this was released, the song was sooo hot !! 🔥🔥🔥🔥Everyone loved it and was talking about it, it had been just a few years since Anita’s debut album. The song was so hot that by the time the album dropped EVERYONE went out and bought it(no downloads then ). I remember I was playing it in car with my best friend and he asked me to stop at the record store so he could get him a copy! This album was so hot that people couldn’t get enough of Anita Baker, they wanted more and more, so we all went out and bought her first album too! It was like she had two new albums and I bet The Songstress returned to the to ten on the R&B charts as Rapture rose to number one!
I don’t remember when it came out - it’s just one of those songs that were always just there. My favorites from her are Angel, Been So Long, You Bring Me Joy, Mystery, and No One in the World.
From a white 50 year old biker dude. This song has given me chills for 30 years. Maybe the greatest love song EVER and no less than what I've been looking for my whole life. Too good to believe
I GREW UP WITH janis joplin and aretha franklin. and others. i was not into vocalist soul/jazz AT ALL when this album came out. but man was i hooked back in with this song. you can keep whitney, anita is my girl.
Yes, this is one of my favourite long songs of all time. And it encapsulates what I feel for my other half - who is a glittering gem I feel even lucky to approach.
U are THA BEST!.......I mean, u nailed it b4 she opened her mouth........that's just impressive........I also had my mind blown the first time I heard her voice. u have excellent taste in music.......I luv your reactions!
I don't care how many other people have heard this song she's talkin to me that's what happened when I heard that song the first time back in the 80s yes I love this song because she loves me with all her heart I'm her baby
Anita sings with so much passion and feeling, like she’s telling her life story with every fibre of her body. Performing she’s all arms, kicks, everything invested in telling us her story. Her feelings. THAT is what performing is all about. Getting across your feelings.
Love Me some Anita Baker!! I Still have that Album. I even have a CD of Her's in My Cadillac that I Listen to. She Knew How to Caress the Soul. Them Vocals were strait up Amazing!
I can't believe I missed this reaction. It just popped up on my feed. Anyway, this used to be one of my moms favorite albums. She played it over and over for years.
This song was Anita's first Top 40 crossover hit. The song went all the way to #1 on the Billboard Soul chart and it peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall of 1986. I fell in love with this song the moment I heard on the radio.
Beyond great voice she wrote a lot of her songs (this included) and was executive producer on her albums from Rapture onward. No one with voice like hers
