Now I'm pretty sure some uber feminazi could bombard me with a bunch of "facts" as to why this isn't true, but here's my take on the whole "sexism in gaming" issue: You see, for the longest time gaming, and computer stuff in general was seen, and indeed by many people is still seen as a hobby exclusively practiced by basement dwelling, socially awkward permavirgins, aka "nerds". Now these nerds back in the day were (and again, in some cases still are) the absolute bottom of the food chain in most social environments growing up. Since they were mocked and rejected all their lives, many of these people eventually withdrew into their hobbies, further isolating them from "normal" people. But then came the time when games and tech hobbies started to become not only socially acceptable, but (gasp!) cool and hip. So now the same people, and the women especially who mocked the nerds all throughout high school suddenly want to barge into their little safe haven, the internet and gaming, where they set up their own social lives and rules and were getting along pretty quietly. They tramp in there and go: "Yeah, this stuff? Turns out it's cool now, so I want it. And I want it to revolve around me. And I will once again do everything to make you an unwanted outsider to accomplish that". And so they play the victim card, and tell sob stories, and recruit white knights from the ranks of desperate, lonely nerds. And they want to drag the whole thing back to high school, and once again dictate what is or isn't "socially acceptable" and what you get to like or dislike in order to be accepted into the ranks of "cool" people. TL; DR: You reap what you sow ladies. You mocked and ridiculed games and gamers for decades, don't be surprised when they resent you, and don't want you sticking your shitty feminist noses in their business. Also, for the record, I do think a large chunk of society is responsible for this way of thinking, and it's not exclusively women. However, it seems to be these feminist scumbags that want in on everything, and want everything to be about them and only them.

If there's a female NPC, she's an object. If there's a female PC, she fails to simultaneously represent all women everywhere and is "unrealistic". If there's a female character who is competent, she's a "fighting fucktoy". If there's a female character who is incompetent, she's a "damsel in distress". If there's a female antagonist, the game is portraying women in a negative light. If there's a female killable character, the game is encouraging violence against women (as distinct from "domestic violence", mind you), whether the player has to kill them or not. If there's a single female character, she's a token. If there are no female characters, the game is "failing to represent women" but at least you don't have to listen to Sarkeesian whining about all the other ways the game and/or its devs and/or its fans are apparently sexist "problematic". It would seem the only winning move is not to play.

Fallout is a game full of choices to be either a good or wicked person, Doom however your a hero through and through, fending off hell-spawns saving all of humanity. Doom teaches you being a hero on the most dire of situations while also make you feel very bad-ass.

The reason she had to be there is because she built this persona of "Feminist Gamer". If Anita didn't go to E3 she knew gamers would use it as proof that she wasn't a gamer. It also goes further than that. See, Anita has gotten donations and funds from not just random strangers, but big name companies and big name figures. Her name is cemented as a "Feminist Gamer". If she were to admit now it was a farse, it would be way more difficult to live down than if she just kept on with the image. Too much on the line in regards to big company and celebrity sponsors. You see, we can all recount a game we played in our childhoods which to this very day makes us super excited to play. We get super nostalgic about games with shitty graphics, cheap dialog, and cheesy characters. This is because of the memories we had with friends or family WHILE we were playing those games. What Anita doesn't realize is people aren't cheering because of the blood and gore. They are cheering because a game which reminds them of good times is getting a sequel. Those gamers get to relive that nostalgia all over again and they get to share it with someone else. Being gamer is a title not because you play a 1000 games. It's because you play a 1000 games with the most fond of memories attached to them. This is what makes the hobby so great. This is how we all know Anita isn't a gamer. She doesn't get the sparkle in her eye talking about video games. She doesn't have any emotion tied to a video game. She admitted a while ago she didn't play games because of the violence. So all in all, feminism was a trend to encourage women to buy Dove, subscribe to Buzzfeed, write click bait articles to make rent,and call everything sexist. Seeing that the trend is dying down, notice how less frequent Anita is mentioned in...well anything. The people who made her famous are bored with her. Her only plea now is to establish herself as something she isn't and talk about things she doesn't want to talk about. So yes, staying relevant isn't working well for her. She only stays popular when other people talk about her. Take this as a victory in a way. Anita's last attempt to garner attention is by acting like violent video games are bad.
