Thank you visiting our most loved and respected leader’s mosoleum. Our love for him never ends and will never end. I wish there were leaders like him in the world in our days. The world would be completely a different place.
In 1916 my maternal grandfather was killed fighting the Turks. After the war Ataturk said that the Mehmets and the Tommy,s were brothers,I love and admire him for his leadership .It was wonderful to see his fantastic resting place..
Anıtkabir is a must to see, the archecture is stunning and a fitting tribute for one of the greatest modern leaders in World history. Atatürk was an incredible leader, his reforms are still being felt today in a positive way. If you read about the life of Atatürk you get an understanding of why he is so loved by Turkish people. A truly great and amazing human being. REST IN PEACE MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK.
Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, güzel ülkemizin kurucusu ve bugün de bizleri birarada tutan en önemli ortak değerimizdir. Anıtkabir’i ziyaret ettiğiniz için çok teşekkür ederiz.
I am from Ankara, I always remember Ataturk every day of my life but still got tears in my eyes at 6:06. We love you Ataturk, and we still owe you a lot and still have many things to do for your legacy!
AS HE SAID "peace at home, peace in the world" This is what happens when a real man becomes a one of the greatest leaders in the world. The people from nation which defeated in a big war whilst defending the country , show respect and visit you after 100 of years.
@@sahinberg It takes time to instill democracy in a society that has been ruled by a sultanate for centuries, doesn't it? They told Atatürk to be the sultan, but he did not accept it. In the first years of the Republic, we tried to suppress the rebellions started by bigots.
@@sahinberg He won the enemies, the sultanate didn't have any power, he had the respect from the public, he could have easily say "Right, I earned to be the new sultan. The ottoman empire is no more, it is Mustafa empire from now on." People have been ruled by Monarchy for thousands of years, they have no request or even knowledge of Republic, so they would just accept him as the new monarch. He refused all that power though, he wanted to build a republic and fought with people who still wanted monarchy over republic. There is still people who wants monarchy which reflects the today's government running for 20+ years. People resist to change, it's in the nature and they resisted and still resist to the change of governance. So, it wasn't an easy transition and we didn't have a second party until 1945. That wasn't Atatürk's fault though. He tried everything he can until he died. The other people after him wasn't as strong willed and farsighted as him though so newly built republic struggled to thrive. Keep in mind though, none of those people have any idea what it means to live in a republic, what it should look like. They all lived in monarchy for their whole life until Atatürk insisted on republic.
Ataturk had addressed to mothers of soldiers who had lost lives in Gallipoli campaign in WW1. “Those heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives! You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country to of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well. Atatürk, 1934

He was respected and he still is. He was a great man. He saved a nation and brought peace in to the world. I couldn't hold my tears during the video. Thank you for filming Anıtkabir. "If one day my words are against science, choose science as guidance." Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK
Proud of you two - thank you for visiting the memorial of my hero- a man who was ahead of his time who: gave a special day to children; special day to the youth and sports; a man who gave women a right to vote; a man who said every child will go to school boys AND girls; a man who never had children of his own but adopted children one who was Sabiha Gökcen Turkish female pilot Turkey’s first female pilot; he changed the language to what it is today otherwise you would have been reading old Turkish which was like Arabic. There will never be a leader like Ataturk - yaşa Mustafa Kemal yaşa 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Anitkabir is on our list of places to visit in Turkey as we haven't ventured to Ankara yet, but hope to as soon as we can. Very informative as always so thanks guys!!
Atatürk was a leader respected by the whole world. Even the leaders of the countries he fought with respected him. But today, there are those who are especially uncomfortable with his name. That's why his importance will never be forgotten. Thank you so much guys for this meaningful visit 🙏😉
There was/is no other person in the whole world throughout the history who’s moment of death (10th of November at 09:05 am) causes every year since 1938 a nationwide standstill as a sign of showing respect to this exceptional leader of hearts. He was not only a brilliant strategist and officer but also a visionary statesman way ahead of his time. Thank you for another pleasant vlog!
Amazing video. The achievements of Ataturk is of great national pride for Turkey, He rallied the nation at a time when the entire country was in danger of collapse.
I think that heat is getting to you both after seeing the end of the video. You need a nice cool river to jump into. Marianne is was so nice to see you getting a day of pampering, we women need that from time to time. Thank you for the tour of Anitkabir. Take care
We completely miss Anitkhabir as it was closed. Ankara was in total lockdown when we arrived there in May. Bummer! Norah really admire Ataturk and a visit here would be a highlight in Ankara! Thanks for the video. We can at least see what we missed.
What a cool place! Love the Marylyn Monroe impression! What a beautiful place and great tour. It seems like a wonderful place to experience the history from there. Thank you for taking us along with you!
The Turkish people's love & pride for their country show through your videos. Their centennial in two short years should prove to be a celebration! ❤❤😎👍xx
Hello Our Dears Marianne and Chris ! God bless you. Very Very nice Video. We were not still in Ankara. You have showed us the best tourist attractions in Ankara. Thank you very much. With our best regards Nurie and Hassan Bijan Hamburg
Well, Ataturk did the undoable for us..That's why We respect him! He was a high level soldier in Ottoman army..The Sultan accepted the defeat without even trying...Ataturk and citizens fought agains both the Sultan and Enemy countries..I think it was 4-5 country invading our country.France invaded south, England Istanbul, Italy , Austria, Greece west... That's why, it doesn't matter which government comes and goes, but This is Ataturk's State!!

Respect to Atatürk. He is one of the true great leaders in human history. His vision and reforms not only inspired millions of modern Turks, but hundreds of millions of people all around the world. It's thanks to him that Turkey is among the advanced nations of the world today and maybe the only Muslim-majority advanced nation in the world.
Yesterday i was in Anıtkabir. I live in Çankırı, 105 km far from Ankara and we have salt caves and also a local restaurant serving best beans in the world, delicious. If i were you, i would go to Çankırı to taste those beautiful beans, restaurant name is "Derya Lokantası" chef's name is "Sefer" Usta.
Fun fact about Turkish Hamam: In Turkey it is a tradition that when a woman is about to get married, the future bride and her female family members and friends all spend a part of their day at the Hamam receiving massages and treatments, singing and dancing and just having some girl time. It's like the Turkish way of a Bachelorette party :)
I remember visiting the Ataturk Mausoleum when I was very young during the 60s. I commented that it was nice to see something that wasn't ruined. Ankara is also the home of the famous Turkish pianist AyseDeniz, who I'm a big fan of. She's currently in L.A. for a while, but I would prefer Ankara myself.
Thank you for wonderful video! It is really interesting and motivating! Cannot wait when all of us start travel again! Thank you for helping to promote tourism! It helps our economy .
I live about 5 minutes from the hamam that you went to and I am gutted that I didn’t see you to say hello! My husband and I always say that it would be funny to bump into you randomly - you were literally on our doorstep and we missed you! We have lived in Ankara for over 3 years now and we use your Turkey travels as inspiration for our own explorations. Chris - keep on chortling, it amuses me no end! İyi günler 😁

Hey guys... I was really really hoping you will be in Anit Kabir while your Ankara visit... This is great you did it. Thank you so much for giving a respect to our endless leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by visiting him... A big thumbs up :))
The architecture of Anıtkabir actually inspired by Hittite architecture. The lions, statues, firezes all of them. The place really unique in that regard so you won't see something like that anywhere.
You guys are the most under rated channel on YT. This is pure travelling! & your never ending bond with the locals anywhere you go is inspiring. Keep up the great work👏
Enjoy'n u'r vids have a ball. Me in the Castletowmbere free Aire. After a nice time today on Bere Island. Ye are making me hungry again. 😁😂 even though I have just had the amazing Haddock and Chips here in Castletowmbere.
Atatürk's words about science: For everything in the world, for civilization, for life, for success, the truest guide is science. Seeking a guide other than science and science is heedlessness, ignorance, and heresy. " Our true mentor in life is science. I hope that first my country, Turkey, and then the whole world will remain with science. Thank you very much for introducing our country well :)
