Thanks so much for this video! I plugged in my new Anker webcam and was shocked at how awful the video looked - overblown and the black areas were "shimmering" if tht makes sense. Your tutorial helped me save a lot of time and frustration. Thank you! Subscribed.
Great review. I just purchased the C200 and will test it in the next few days. With that said, as a professional photographer and video producer, you could use a neutral density (ND filter or gel) in-front of the lens to flatten the contrast ratio from burning out one side of your face.
@@DeployJeremy -Yes... I noticed the same issue you had, but Anker's' updated software does a good job without any ND filters. Also, soft flat bounce light would help reduce contrast and hotspots. Lower the contrast with Anker's control panel and adjust the exposure and color temperature.

I apologize, but can you share where I can find those advanced settings. I downloaded the Anker software and saw those adjustments, but not the advanced ones you are dialing in. I am on an HP laptop. Thank you!
I had to re-watch to see. I didn't end up using those filters and left them disabled. Sometimes in troubleshooting the image, I'll try out other filters, but if I find a simpler solution either using the webcam's app or in that case exposure was the main culprit, then I'll cut down the OBS filters. That said, I probably should remove the disabled filters prior to recording a video like this.
Those are the Windows UVC camera controls. You can access them in OBS, Microsoft Teams and other online meeting or streaming apps. Also more support keeps coming for controls in the Settings app in Windows 11.
Im not sure but dont seem to be able to have more than one of these cams operating at the same time on the same PC. eg OBS. Thanks for the video and tips
Haven't seen that, I only have one. I do have 3 identical Elgato Cam Link devices in my OBS setup though and used a tool called camrename to change their names in the Windows registry. Maybe that could work?
Hey Jeremy, thanks for the review, i bought one anker c200 for me. Is there a way to use the webcam on Google Meets and keep these settings? In OBS or even just changing in the Anker Software and keeping the changes...
The settings should persist in any app, once you set them first in the Anker app. Any OBS settings would need you to enable OBS virtual camera and select that in your meeting app (Meet). Is that not your experience? Remember that only one app can have your camera display at a time in Windows, so you need to configure in Anker, close Anker, then open Meet.
So for some reason the exposure setting does not hold once OBS is closed. The value in the box stays the same so if I change it to negative 9 it stays at -9 but the actual affected has on the camera does not stay. When I reopen OBS the exposure is still blown the exposure is blown out again and I have to open the dialog box and adjust the setting and then it will retake effect. At this point I can't really find a good way around this so I'm probably going to end up having to return the camera.
It also appears that the exposure setting doesn't propagate across different apps. Meaning if I change it using OBS it does not affect the camera in zoom.
Do you mean the Windows Universal Video Controls (UVC)? Those can be accessed via OBS, Microsoft Teams, Zoom under camera properties and to some extent they are also in the Settings app in Windows 11.
USB-C is a bit of a mess. I got these limitations a lot and normally if I try a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 rated cable and assuming it fits in the recessed hole in back of that camera, it should work. No guarantees, but that is my experience with others. Even the Logitech BRIO from 2017 was/is finicky like this
Hello. I'm looking to get a cheap camera, around €60. I was interested in the Anker c200, but I doubt if it is the best option because of not maintaining the exposure settings after the reset. This Anker would be a better option or which one would you recommend in this price range?. Maybe the Brio 300 would be better?. Thanks a lot.
I would actually recommend the something from Logitech, if you want to adjust camera settings once and have them survive reboots. The other great and super cheap webcam is the Lenovo Essential FHD webcam (aka Lenovo 300 FHD). It doesn't have dedicated software like Logitech, but you can use Windows camera settings to dial in a few core controls. It's got a wide angle 90 degree lens. The (odd) advantage of using a wide angle webcam is that if you do want tighter framing like you'd get from a standard lens (usually 78 degrees or less), you can bring the webcam closer to your mouth, and then the microphone won't sound as bad/echoey
There are a few ways to get to it. From OBS, it's in the camera properties, then adjust camera settings. That opens the native Windows controls. One thing to note is that those controls are not saved after reboot. You can also access those controls in Teams Settings and camera adjustment
If you're in a position to disable auto exposure via OBS or Teams, I'd say the Anker, if you just want plug and play default settings, then I would go Logitech.
It depends. For most USB-C cables, yes. I pulled mine out of storage to check. For example, the Logitech BRIO USB-C is wider than usual and doesn't fit in the recess, and same for USB-A to C adapters. But my MacBook charger C-to-C works and most others do.

And also what is the best cheap and good audio interface you suggest. I will be doing solo voice over and podcast. Please suggest me an ideal one I can lean on.
Yes, but not all the way down to point at your desk like some other webcams (BRIO 500 as a recent example). I mean it could hang from the mount pivot point, but it would be covering the top 2-3 inches on the center of your monitor.
@@GOLFADDICT65 sort of. The cable isn't device specific, but it is recessed in a fairly tight hole and the cable the camera comes with fits it perfectly. If you have a few usb-c cables to test already, it's ok, but there's no way to ensure whatever you order on Amazon for example would fit in the recess. About half of mine worked last time I checked. It looks clean with the oem cable, but it's not super practical if you want to replace it.
That's a brilliant question. At 1080p and 720p, it will output 60fps (not at 1440p)! I should have mentioned that in the review and I can't find it on any other published reviews. I was trying to research the answer for you until I just dug the camera back out and tested it in OBS.
I used the UVC camera controls in OBS Studio for this. The Anker software didn't have that setting, but it's exposured in the UVC controls for Windows.
