By far the best review I’ve seen on this! Practical review is awesome! Convinced me to buy one! Thank you. Update 5/17/24: After buying and trying my 30 Gallon Kobalt air compressor with it, I was disappointed to learn my air compressor was too much for this C1000. Really disappointed about this but it does run a smaller air compressor and shop vac I tried. Still really like it! I just could not find the wattage the 30 gallon needed and so it's not the C1000's fault. All it did was turn it for a second and then the fault activated.
Sorry to hear that. A 30 gallon compressor is a pretty hefty load. I'm guessing the kobalt is rated at somewhere between 3.5-5 hp, and surges pretty heavy to kick that compressor over. I think the Kobalt is rated at 1800w continuous, so about 15 amps. You may be close to being within the Anker's wheelhouse, but compressors are notoriously brutal on startup. Thanks for the comments!
Nice and helpful video! When you conect C1000 to whole house cable you insert plug to the wrong outlet, 2400 watts outlet is only one and located on the end of the right side.
Have you been to the grocery store lately? I'd have to sell the Anker to fill the fridge! It's actually a second fridge for guests and emergency backup.
Could you do audio stereo , or if you have audio amplifiers PA system will it be possible to not only work but don’t introduce dirty noise hisss sound into overall sound ? You tested at last second the welder? How many watts did that draw every regular weld so cool? So for charging from grid wall lets say I want to charge via solar do I have to unplug the ac cord from the unit or wall in order to solar be accepted or how does that work it would be awesome to do a real time test to explain visually as many don’t know how this unit works paper says something but just common things could help someone buy it . Also if you happen to have any multimeter to show us the ac output voltage this unit provides I would be awesome
We had a mic failure and lost audio in one channel part way through the video. We ware working on improving the audio & video quality. I checked the source video and couldn't quite make out the amp draw while welding. I'll find a time to test that again. Harbor Freight flux-core welder has two amperage settings- MIN and MAX. Anker couldn't handle the MAX setting for long. the MIN setting worked continuously. MIN setting is rated for up to 14 gauge steel. I wouldn't count on getting strong wels on anything thicker with the C1000. Voltage is right around 120v. Solar setup is the same as the 767/F2000, unfortunately. No simultaneous AC/Solar charging. If AC is plugged in, it charges from AC. If power goes out, it falls back to solar charging. My preference would be to charge from solar, and supplement with AC.
@@TRAILPOWER great 👍 I like you talk air compressor it’s nice , I prefer this over gas generator for small usage but yeah i dislike doing maintenance on my gas genrator and the noise . I never tried that on my generator a welder as I was afraid of messing it up hehe but it has the same ratings 1800 continuously and but peak 2200watts
Ooh, great question! That depends… if you have the room, you’re using a large fridge, or you’re going out for multiple days, I would say 767 (F2000). Having 2KWH of battery takes away the range anxiety, and I rarely hear fans on the 767. If you don’t have lots of space, aren’t using a large fridge, or only go out for the day, I’d definitely go for the C1000. The C1000's expansion battery will be an awesome addition bringing it up to the capacity of the 767, but in my experience, they don't work great for overland rigs. The loop of heavy expansion cable takes up a lot of space next to the unit, and the expansion battery isn't attached to the base. It's just set on top, so I don't feel safe driving with it perched there.
How many time have you attempted to test UPS mode? A 20ms UPS slightly exceeds the 17ms ATX power loss tolerance specification. Many desktops will reboot every firth try or so.
I ran the UPS test 4X under load, and saw zero glitches. We can run some more tests. I'm starting to wonder if Anker's actual performance is slightly better, but they don't want to overpromise. One thing I'm considering is picking up the smallest Amazon Basics UPS for $50 and putting it between my power station and my computer. Effectively gives you a dedicated UPS with several hours of runtime, instead of minutes.
An inexpensive UPS in the chain is a great idea. Even the most basic ones can transfer in less than 10ms. Been thinking of doing that myself. I have yet to see someone use an oscilloscope to test the Anker's transfer time. That would be more accurate as some power supplies are more tolerant of power blips than others.
I haven't had a chance to test the F1200. I'd probably opt for one of their newer models with wifi and expansion options. Otherwise, very similar specs, so if those aren't important to you, it looks like a great unit!
It does support pass through charging and UPS. “How does the UPS functionality work? Connect your C1000 to a wall outlet with AC charging cable, press the AC outlet button and connect your devices via the AC output ports. The power from the grid will pass through to the device. If the grid power is off, C1000 will start its power supply within 20ms.”
