We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ru-vid.comUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
Thank god that Oluv got supported by Colin! Imagine if Oluv was gone from RU-vid. We would get some fancy review from Jimsreviewroom about this speaker saying that its ok and that it isn’t as good as the Charge 4. Because he wouldn’t try to make it sound good with an eq just like with the Xb30. This is why Oluv is such a great reviewer as he tries his best to make something sound good if he can adjust the sound. This man should have millions of subscribers instead of those idiots who review products and say that its good and nothing else. Ordered one yesterday after watching your previous video. Seems to be a strong competitor to the Sony's new XB32 but with modern Type-C and better sound quality overall. What I need is a water resistant mid-size speaker with clear balanced sound below $150. This one should be a perfect fit and now I'm pretty sure it won't disappoint me. Thank you for your efforts. Thanks for your time and review Oluv. I went for the soundcore motion+ for 85 euros a couple of weeks ago. It sounds fantastic for my needs. I also compared it with the Tribit xboom that I ordered as a gift. Both sound balanced to my ears with the right equalisation but the soundcore definitely fills up better and sounds larger with tad more low end for a little increase in budget. I hope you enjoy making this content, we appreciate your efforts, expertise and welcoming feel in your videos.

Alex G how is the sound though? Is it musical? Do you really hear all the frequency response or is it bias towards a certain spectrum. Is the bass increased as you turn it down?
@@robob221 The highs and mids don't dissapear with the bass increasing volume. Until maybe 90% you will feel that bass doesn't go further, mids do. At 100% you will hear very clear music, no distortion at all! If you hear the music at 70-80% volume the tweeters are amazing and bass very clear defined. Unfortunately I can't say how flat the frequency response is, because I haven't tested with a specialized software, but I can say, wide, solid and very intense sounds get out from all speakers it has. You can't compare with Bose or JBL, these must be shame of what they buy, more expensive and less quality sound.
Are you still happy with it? I just bought the JBL Xtreme 2 a couple of days ago. And even tho it gets very loud and all, I can't really figure out how to make it sound perfect. I've tried equalising it a lot. But I'm not 100% satisfied. To me the loudness isn't as much important as the sound quality. My Xtreme 2 has amazing bass. I'm just scared that I'll miss the bass from the Xtreme 2 if I return it. Are you satisfied with Anker's bass? Plus I can basically get two Ankers for the price of one JBL Xtreme 2. So what is your opinion tho?
Wow amazing speaker, i have the Denon following your previous videos of last summer, and i thinks its a great speaker on quality ratio, but this Anker really gets the throne of the quality to cost ratio. I've just taken the plunge, ordered my Motion+ a couple days ago. Mostly due to Oluv's excellent research, review, and live comparisons with its direct competition. I am thoroughly convinced already that I'll enjoy it immensely. Once I have it and figure it out... I'll give another feedback.

I already had a hk onyx 3. Go for this motion+ just few days after know so many good comments from users and youtubers. I expect m+ have better mobility and even a better sound on some aspects. But I found the onyx 3 really have a better sound. Both speaker have high quality sound. The m+ sound is solid and clear, excellent bass , the onyx 3 is more soft and natural , more airy and open, vocal is more touching. Both can give detail sound, but you can notice the delicate part of music from onyx more clearly although m+ have not missing out such detail part phsically, for example, delicate small sound from guita string or the finger softly smooth on the string expressed more naturally and smooth from onyx.Both have powerful bass, but onyx go more deep and full, Both can sound loud without too much distortion, onyx can even louder and powerful. I think the bigger size onyx have a fuller open and powerful sound overall.The onyx is not pluged in the comparison. (the bass will be too much for some songs if pluged). But it does not mean m+ is not good , I still like it can produce such high quality sound from this size and I think it is a winner of similar size bt speaker.
Much like I would expected it to be. It can not compete with Denon on lower and mid volumes, although its still sounds amazing. But completely outperforms quiet Denon on higher volume. Anker is doing amazing progress with their game.
Very impressed it is keeping up with the Denon apart from the image processing . I compared it to the Tribit maxsound plus , the Tribit sounds more open but not as strong or as full. the Anker sounded a little harsh just a little , but certainly powerful. i like it .
After testing my soundcore motion+ vs vifa oslo i really do feel like it is pretty much a smaller more portable oslo, it does not have as big of a sound nor as much bass but the music really sound quite similar with super good quality, i use oluvs tuning on the anker but with a bit more on the 150hz dial, thank you for this great recommendation oluv! Btw bought it from amazon de and it saves the eq settings
I just bought soundcore motion+ and I have vifa oslo and I deffinetely can not say that they sound similar, oslo has much much cleaner, more detailed sound. But for this weight, size and price I think its quite nice.

It is a great speaker. I purchased it because I have used the soundcore select 1 for about four years. The select 1 is still running great, holding a charge very well, and can easily last through a 10 shift at work at 75% volume. The motion plus, on the other hand is no where near the advertised battery life. Best so far has been 7.5 hours at 50-70% volume. It is a great sounding speaker, and I am glad to have it. I am disappointed that it cannot make it 10 hours on a charge.

Update: Received my speaker and with the EQ it sounds fantastic. Very similar to the response of the soundbox xl. I played them next to each other and it was close until the upper volume levels where the XL just can’t keep up. Also, the EQ settings save on the phone now. Very good recommendation.
Nice review and very good speaker. Even if bigger sized I would compare it also to the Tribit tribit maxsound plus which costs half the price of the Anker and I think still sounds good even if it is not as loud as the Anker. Denon Envaya, expecially in stereo paired mode is unbeatable.. but hey Oluv you still didn't give us your opinion.. May be you can compare two Anker Soundcore Motion+ with two Denon Envaya..
Got one used for 40,00 Euros, and I am quite happy, that it´s such a good device. Going to use it in my RV for music, TV and gaming - nice, because of low power usage.

just received this speaker , quite happy with it , not what i expected for a full sound since its only a single unit ,good bass coming from 30 watt bt speaker
It was on sale for $69 at Amazon, so I decided to buy it. Although that's a very good price, I played it side to side with my Denon Envaya 250BT, hoping that I would get a better sound overall. The anker does sound good with the EQ adjusted, however the interesting results started to show when comparing at higher volumes. I noticed I was getting some sort of distorsion from the Anker. Then I ran the frequency generator to check the bass extension and then I found the distorsion was caused from the rear radiator, since it was some sort of port that causes the air to overflow and hence produce noise when played at higher levels. On the other hand, Denon bass was nice and clean around the 50-60hz. That easily concluded for me that I was getting a cleaner, higher end sound from the Envaya than from the Anker. Don't get me wrong, the speaker is really well built and I do like the features it has, but does not match the sound you can get from Denon, specially with its tridimensional effect it produces, and without having to adjust EQ to have it sound good
Me myself was an happy owner of Denon BT250 and my think was the same as yours in a first listening of the Anker. BUT.... Adjusting the equalization like the way Oluv showed weeks ago...drammatically changed the sound. Now i don't use Denon anymore, this Anker satisfy me at all. And what a battery efficiency...incredible!
Cesar's comment should be pinned IMO. I'm not familiar to many bt speakers nor to Denon, but I do have some decent studio speakers and ear/headphones around. Already have Flip 4 which is very convenient whenever I travel, but I was looking for something larger with better sound quality. I did order the Anker and failed to find that wonderful sound everyone's talking about. Yes, there's no comparison with the Flip 4, and yes, I've used the Anker app with the EQ. There's a lot more to the sound, but the low and top end seems somehow cheap. I'll do my best to explain it. I mean, there's plenty of mids and mid-bass to make the sound full, but the high end is lacking some details, I believe there's not much happening after 12khz, it's quite obvious when you listen to it. I think there's a bit of emphasis around 3khz or so. Plus, the low-end is not very well defined or punchy, the small speakers don't do any magic below 100hz, don't expect too much from it. And yes, that radiator on the back is seriously messing up the bass. Cesar is absolutely right about it. Maybe that's why I'm not fond of that lower end which should be well defined and punchy. I don't think about myself as being a bass-head, but to me something seems to be off with the sound of this speaker. It's fine, but nothing to get excited about unless you're into loudness, which this speaker does deliver. Yes, it's very loud and it has surprisingly clear upper-bass and mids at 80%-90%. Overall, the sound is nice as long as you pay something like $60-$70 for it. In my opinion, I'd look for something else if the budget can be increased a bit. And that I will do. Now I'm more confused than I was before in finding a better speaker.:)
@@ctsVTi Wondering what could be a better portable speaker that does both Bluetooth and AUX input, and also is true stereo? It's really difficult to find alternatives to Motion+. Most Bluetooth models under 100 EUR are mono or need two units for stereo, or lack AUX input (important for me since sometimes I need to get rid of Bluetooth delay when playing a synthesizer live).
Anker is rising up! I heard a stark difference in the fullness of sound delivered between each speaker. Great in-depth review as always! P.S. Your review of the Soundcore Life Q30 convinced me to confirm purchasing the headphones, and listening to this video through them was excellent!

I just paired my motion+ with my ipad for the first time and my custom eq was available in the app..so the eq is definitely stored on the speaker itself and not in the app. Let‘s hope Anker let‘s us auto apply the custom eq when powering on the speaker.
My wallet will be lighter again because of you:) already have B&o a1, taotronics boom x, Tribit x sound go, bose soundlink micro and Vifa Oslo :) looking forward to get this one:)
@@tomislavmalbasic6843 Two completely different speakers. Starting from the price, Vifa is wayyy more expensive, and better quality built overall. Vifa is better in sound quality and of course & sound volume, it is much louder with bigger bass. But Oslo is more of a home speaker, it is not waterprof and it is bigger and heavier than anker, so anker has its advantages. Anker is spalsh proof so it is not afraid of rain and it is smaller so u can take it with you anywhere. You really coud take Vifa with you as well, but it will take a lot more space in your backpack, and you could feel the 2.5kg weight of it. That is why Im listen to my Vifa only at home, and I have different smaller speakers to take them out with me. Ive had Jbl xtreme 1 & 2, many bose speakers but Vifa simply sounds the best. Sound coming out of this speaker is simply amazing. I dont need to keep big hifi system in my kitche anymore. Oslo does the job brilliantly.
@@bodeksrc8007 thanks for the answer. but i was actuality thinking on vifa helsinki vs. motion +. sorry for that mistake. sure oslo is way better (louder, bassy, and overall quality of sound) because it's way heavier and bigger. did you had opportunity to compare helsinki vs. motion +? they are quite similar weight. i have motion + and for now that's by far the best portable speaker i had, but i never tried something from vifa or similar price rang. what disappointed me on motion+ is that is totally dust unproof. and not only dust, also the small particles of wood or whatever can go through the grill. and im using the speaker a lot outside on the beach, in the forest and at work where it can be quite dusty. i wonder how sensitive are these drivers to small particles that come through the grill? atm im using woman pantyhose (black :) ) to protect it outside.
There are a couple of vids on youtube discussing eq settings.. i mainly listen to classical & jazz en podcasts my 2015 Sound Blaster Roar 2 speaker.. But batteries are failing so i bought the Anker Soundcore Motion + after watching your vid. A reviewer on Amazon recommended people watch your review.. When i saw you i recognized you. .. The Anker does extremely well when it's EQ'd considering it's half the price of the Denon! Hopefully Anker fixes its default tuning. They must have tone deaf sound engineers! I can understand maybe some fine tuning, but you really had some extreme settings to make it sound that good. The Anker is impressive at max volume, but I rarely, if ever, use my speakers at full volume, with the exception of the Stockwell 2 which sounds excellent at any setting, it's just not an impressively loud speaker, so full volume is sometimes needed. Nice comparison Oluv!

Great review! As good as the Anker sounds, I’m more of a standard consumer so the requirement to set EQ every time to get the best sound is a major turn-off - I just want to power on and play. I think I’d hold out until a firmware update is confirmed, or until competitors come out with their “response” to this.

I would like to use this speaker most of the times with aux in cable connecting my phone to speaker . I use Bluetooth feature rarely . Now my doubt is Can we answer/make phone calls when speaker is connected to my mobile with cable using aux in feature . Let me be more clear in expressing my doubt . If u take bose Bluetooth speakers for example , they do not allow us to answer phone calls when the speaker is connected with cable . They will allow answering calls option only when the speaker is connected to the mobile via Bluetooth . Can u tell me if this motion plus , allows answering calls through the speaker , when it is connected with cable and NOT Bluetooth. @@anudeepmogili606 I've answered and made calls from my phone while the aux was connected. Granted the sound wasn't as good as the recipient told me. I answered and made calls from my phone while connected yes. Not sure why you'd rarely use Bluetooth though as that's the convenience function and bluetooth function is great. Anyway yes to answer your question and I recommend the speaker but more from a musical standpoint. From a phone speaker standpoint......can't give that advice 100% as I don't use it for that. I missed it the first time I watched this video about the ability to connect speakers with the anker. I so wish they come out with a motion+ mini or an updated soundcore boost with connect ability and eq function! That would be a perfect combination
I think the Anker sounds more spacious and at times more detailed than the Denon. Maybe the Anker lacks a bit meat in the midrange, like someone else commented, but I have always felt like the Denon squeezes instruments/different sounds together, creating a rather flat (spatially) and "narrow" sound. (I'm not talking about the sound stage, which the stereo-processing obviously broadens). That said, I haven't got the Denon myself, only heard it through my earphones, so I might be wrong.
Denon quality SOUND (Loudness) is incredible BUT you, re completely right. Voices bright morè with the Anker. My personal feeling is: Depending the sound of music, voice, instruments,... Can be one or t'he other. Still I have not found THE speaker with warm loudness (Denon) & bright/brilliant & dinamic quality {maybe Anker). We nees to be aware about EQ problem. I follow to Oluv si ce 2014.
Proud to say that I just compared against my Beoplay s3 , which I love, and it held up with it. Just as loud but the low end doesn’t match up unless you have the motion+ against a wall.
I will get this next year. I will like to know from Oluv how the Anker Soundcore Motion+ sounds with FLAC/Hi-Res Audio files when connected via cable. That’s my main reason for wanting to get this.
Tear down vids show Anker Motion + 10 watt 4ohm x 2 speakers and 5 watt x 2 tweeters. Sony XB30 has 25 watt 4ohm x 2 speakers. I would compare the frequency measurements Oluv did on XB30 in 2017 to Motion + in 2019. XB30 had flatter frequency measurement but less on higher frequencies.
I found this speaker to be really boomy with your settings, even though you get more bass the roll off starts at ~100 hz. The sound signature was better of the Soundcore boost, even though not as loud.
The bass is not great on the Boost, it's uncontrolled and upper bass is 2 times weaker (10db less) than it's 75-80hz peak. Motion plus also have it's peak at 80hz, if there's a roll off at 100hz, just increase the 80 and 150 hz slider.

I ordered mine before your reviews cause I was impressed by the specs......and got it for $89.99....it has not arrive yet but now I'm more than pleased I ordered it......thank you Oluv ....you are the best.....the Tribit MaxSound Plus still the best in the $50 range. ....Check on the AOMAIS Sport II+ ....I'm waiting for one I ordered.....it looks like a contender for the Tribit
I think there is a lot of confusion as to what the actual problem about the EQ saving issue is: when you restart the speaker and open the Soundcore app, it still SHOWS the EQ setting that you chose last, but it is NOT ACTIVE on the speaker. The speaker then just sounds like it does with its original default settings, i.e. out-of-the-box. For the setting to become ACTIVE again, you first have to choose another one and then go back to the one you actually want, THEN it will have become active again. And this has to be done EVERY TIME upon restarting the speaker. That is the issue we are talking about, and it has STILL NOT BEEN FIXED by the 32.35 update! I'm in contact with the Anker support team and I will give an update as soon as I hear back from them.
Wanted to let you people know that Anker customer support got back to me on the issue and they said that within "a few days" they are going to release yet another firmware update that will eventually fix all the EQ problems. I really hope so.
@@rewstah9518 Yep, here in the UK after updating to 33.35 firmware, the custom EQ completely and fully saves! It's near perfect now! They still need to fix the issue of the custom EQ only applying to one speaker when in TWS pairing, then it'll be flawless!
id pick the denon 250bt over the anker. personally i like the sound that it produces. as much as i like to convince myself that anker is better but oluv kept on giving slighter edge to denon on moderate volume level. i find him actually trying to find fault on denon while convincing himself that anker also sounded better, just a fraction behind.lol but it's still best to get both. denon for indoor or bedroom speaker and anker for outdoors.
please let me know if it is easy to pair them together in stereo. I had 2 b&o A1's and it was a nightmare to try to put them in stereo. I got so frustrated time after time that I just recently sold them to get half my money back.

I just emailed anker and asked if they would update to allow saving of the eq along with adding more bands to the eq or even have you oluv to help tweak the default setting. Hopefully that type of service you could charge money for, or benefit from somehow. With 100k dedicated subscribers, there is a bit of a following, people really trust your reviews along with your point of view. I ask if other people interested in this speaker email them yourselves as well. To not be able to save the eq setting can probably be a deal breaker for some/many. And to add bands to the eq to make the sound of the speaker even better would be great!
@@pure5152 yes they got back to me today. They are working on an update to allow saving of the eq setting and said they cannot expand the eq bands. I even asked if they are planning a motion+ mini or just a successor to the soundcore boost with the added eq functionality. What would be ideal is a pairing feature, I like having a travel size speaker and a mid size like the motion+ and to be able to link them would be great. They said they will pass the email on to their team, but nothing in the works as of now. Cross fingers anyways, who knows.
