I'm not the only channel saying this in an AnkerMake M5C Review, but I'm glad to add my voice to the echo-chamber that the M5 series by Ankermake are the easiest FDM printers to use. and the M5C is no exception. This comes in at a new price point, aimed at entry-level printers, Whilst it's still not "cheap" it's more than worth it for the time you'll save on your journey to bigger units.

not sure if youve seen, but ankermake in the beta slicer has a "precision mode" you can find it by selecting the M5C printer and make sure you have PLA+ Basic filament selected, from there where you would normally select the fast mode, you can select precision mode and if you use a 0.2mm nozzle you can get as small as 0.05mm layer height!

Extremely nice printer! Can’t wait for the V6 AMS. MY X1C with AMS is nice but there is something about this one that makes me keep it around to. Clean and you can see it! Great for teaching my daughter! The M5 is really good. I’ve printed about 50 different kinds of swords on it.

I appreciate you being a fan of AnkerMake! I have the M5 and I'm currently grounded because it says I need new roller wheels and they are currently sold out. I decided to take this opportunity to purchase the M5C. Been looking at it and debating and decided I really like how these are put together and really want to compare the two. It should arrive tonight and I'm super excited! I hate when people hate on these printers. There really is no need for all the hate. 🥰
@balrog006
@balrog006 3 месяца назад
Have you looked at the wheels and actually see that they’re in need of replacement! It automatically warns you to replace them based on time-it doesn’t gauge actual wear. If you inspect them and see theyre ok and just require adjustments or cleaning, clear the notification and just more on .

There is precedent for denigrating the well designed UI. Recall the rants of the Unix lovers and their pride at their mastery of three letter commands when Mac (and even Windows) users began to use computers that did not require blood, sweat and tears to use, much less master. Using a GUI carried much of the stigma of drinking Bud Light today. And for far less reason. The fundamental issue is that the 'old hands' invested huge amounts of time and often money learning how to make barely functional devices work, I know I did. But the noobs of today need not suffer the same trials that the old salts did in order to get much better prints. There is a well understood sense of injustice among the battle scarred veterans against those who paid fair less in money and blood than they did, and fail to appreciate the struggles they went through to produce mediocre results. Kids today! Same as they ever were. For me, I am back in the market again more than a decade after my first printer gave up the ghost.

I have to say, and this is just my thought, that while this is an easier printer for a first time user, it isn't. Hear me out. While yes, it can be just as easy as described it also is a hinderance. 3D printing itself isn't at a point where it's just click and go. There are far too many variables that effect a print, ones that aren't controlled by the printer. Flament type, moisture, room temp, etc all play a part, and I feel printers like this lull someone into thinking that doesn't matter anymore, or a new maker not realizing this until hours of frustration have gone by. Hopefully they'll stick with it and learn more, but often the first time the first layer goes south it's all over. I think this has moved too much to a phone, hidden too muich with sylish platic and aluminum. Maybe it does lower the barrier a bit, but not enough (although it would help if the community itself wasn't such snobs when it comes to new folks. Good review. It's nice you didn't spout the same talking points all other "reviews" have, and like nearly all reviews of the M5. I'll leave that alone though. Thanks for the insights.

I think it's also worth mentioning that Ankermake can potentially take advantage of your user data. I don't remember the exact details, but there's a recent video by a youtuber named 3D Musketeers where he goes over Ankermake's ToS and finds a part that claims that they can take data like the files you upload to the printer and use them at any time for any purpose. That being said, I don't mean to dissuade anyone from purchasing the printer nor do I intend to imply that fauxhammer is engaging in foul play by not mentioning this, I just want people to be aware of this when they're thinking about which printer to buy. Other than that, love the videos and keep up the good work. 👍

Yea i saw thah video, sadly it seems to be a drama piece, he neglects to go over all of the legal protections the privacy policy has as well including allowing you to send legal requests for anker to delete your data. Its also a bog standard privacy policy, im not saying its right im just saying its a much larger problem then just anker, for isntance youtube, and the printables website have similair policies.

I had no idea about this, but I'm someone who tends to just click accept on all TOS things without reading. Though I'm pretty sure if they suddenly started doing illicit things without the creators consent. This would be brand suicide!
@AluminiumRabbit
@AluminiumRabbit Год назад
@KevinLagan Sorry for the late response, but yeah I agree that other companies do this as well and not just Anker, but it's still a little disappointing to see this sort of thing starting to appear in the 3d printing hobby.
@KevinLagan
@KevinLagan Год назад
@@AluminiumRabbit its disappointing for sure, but with a printer that connects to the cloud its a bit understandable, i imagine the collection is to ensure that they can cover their butts legally if people are using their printers for not so good things. I know people dont like that but its the give and take you get with a connected printer like this

I dropped out of the hobby when I got tired of my Elegoo Mars and the troubles with brittle resin and the unholy mess of the material. This is the sort of product that makes me want to get back into the swing of things, but with FDM this time around. I've been waiting for high detail since I mostly design toys and minis, so maybe I have a generation or two to wait, still, but this really does look good. Thank you for the video!

Reminds me of my Snapmaker 2 design wise. I use mine mainly for the laser engraver and CNC router mode, but it's a very solid FDM printer as well from my experience. Print quality is comparable to a Prusa FDM printer, it's just a little bit slower due to being a lead screw driven machine but that's not too big of a deal, there's a certain robustness that it has because of it. It's a great little 3 in 1 machine and a fantastic compliment to my Anycubic M5s and Mono 2.

I've never really been interested in FDMs. I guess my one use-case would be printing scenery quickly for games. My question is, how visible are the layer lines on the best setting on these AnkerMake printers? Will I see them when they're on the table? I'm unreasonably fussy about seeing layer lines.
@sasca854
@sasca854 Год назад
FDM makes more sense for functional parts where you can use a variety of materials that you simply can't on other types of 3D printers. Nylons, polycarbonates, carbon fiber-infused, wood-infused, etc. It also makes sense for very large prints that would otherwise be impractical to do. For your use case, resin is the way to go.
@scuzzy2142
@scuzzy2142 Год назад
Atleast on my Neptune 4 pro the lines are not bad. On the table at .2 its kinda visible. At the lowest setting you cant even see it at table distance. I think that's why he requested the ultra fine layer height for this. With paint though its fine. If your not painting the raw plastic looks worse than layer lines so it doesn't really matter.

By the way, off topic but I picked up a couple of bottles of Wargamer for my M5s so we'll see how that gets on with the ACF before I switch to PFA. My mate just printed some stuff with Wargamer on his new GKtwo and it looks absolutely incredible. Totally smooth as far as I can see in the photos.

Just got this printer for Christmas, so far so nearly good, I've made a articulated dragon which has about 30 segments, all one print and fine, I've also done some regular sized dice, fine again. I've also had a couple of minor failures, which are likely down to my inexperience as I'm new to 3d printing. Is there a way to reorientation designs within the ankermate app? Just for clarity, the bed only loses 15mm/1.5cm on both the X and Y axis, sorry if this has been pointed out previously. Thanks for reading and for all your advice.
@adanhu
@adanhu Год назад
Getting a fine layer height is really going to require a rather accurate Z-setup, wich is gonna require more torque/speed for things like a z hop. Also gonna need tuning on your extrusion, temperature, speed,... Finer nozzle going to aid too. And then you'll have people running fibers/petg/"foamy" silks Rather understandable they didn't add that setting, it is rather niche like you said yourself and if it's their profile they gotta support it too *shorter version: like running a car at 5 mph, it can but gonna depend alot on drivers skill

@dannonyogurt98 Год назад
Build quality, aesthetics, easy setup, ease of use, a screen and interface that isn't so bad you "just use the phone app and pretend its not there", goes on sale for less than the price of a p1p at 559, multicolor option that promises to revolutionize multi color prints. Take your pick all, of those are the reason I went with an m5 over bambu. But understand that the narrative that the p1p has significantly better prints is simply not true. Many FDM printers can hit the quality of bambu but the m5 is the only one that rivals in speed.

@FauxHammer Год назад
It depends what you want. if you want an easy to use, plug in and print. then I'd argue there is no better option that this. But for this same amount of money. you can basically get a printer with a slightly larger bed. unless you want to start changing things like the nozzle and upgrading the hot end of whatever printer you buy. Most people see to hate on this because it is more expensive for an equivalent sizzed printer. But you won't get this ease-of-use anywhere else at this price, far from it. Personally, I'm yet to see any benefit in a different model that results in better print quality. because when it comes to FDM. you're gonna get models with lots of layer lines no matter what you do. I know many pro printers out there who have used this and like me, still reach for these over their other printers because of that ease of use. you wanna tweak it further, you can. But out of the box. it's 3 buttons in the app and click print. do you want to tinker around with a printer to get the best possible print quality out there. cool you can do that on other printers, and this. do you just want to print cool stuff and not worry about all the crazy settings crap? get this.
