Thank you very much for sharing. I just recently received my large and small Addi machines and have made about 7 various type socks and some hats. I have a question about the durability of the socks. How long do the acrylic tube socks last for you? You made this video about a year ago and therefore, I figure you have an idea. So far, I made a few learning tester socks for myself to see the durability and comfort. I've only worn them a few days, but there are no signs of wear and tear in the heel. I do add nylon thread to them while knitting. I plan to use my excess yarns to make socks and hats for charity. I don't want to make tube socks that last only a week. Making a heel would be great, but everyone has different feet size. I also found the fastest and easiest way for me to complete a nice pair of socks is to start the cuff end by folding it over after knitting 20 rows. Then at the toe end, I add another yarn and do about 15 to 20 rows for reinforcement. I then cast off and sew the toe end together flatwise. What I'd like to do is reinforce the heel area without doing short rows. I haven't found a video to do that, but I have some ideas. Do you? When I crochet or knit socks by hand, I reinforce the toe and heels by adding extra yarn or by tightening the areas. So far, those socks are still doing great after a few years of wearing. I believe these machines will be perfect for my plans. I just need to know the durability. Thank you for any comments and suggestions.
Durability is like any sock. It’s different for everyone but these will last a long time. I have a sock on my channel with a fold over cuff as well and also one with a fitted heel. The fold over cuff is actually by favorite cuff.
@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet Thank you. That makes me feel better about donating them. I did make a fitted heel for myself and that worked out too. Thanks for all your videos. I’m slowly getting to each one.
I found a better way of measuring feet, I started this when I was making socks on my Cindwood sock loom. Find some cardboard or heavy card stock have someone put their foot down, take a maker or pen and draw around it, now cut it out and put a name on it. This way you have width also. I have four different Cindwood looms on it just for my son who has wide feet. Then you can ask the person how high up on the leg they want it. I never asked I made them a little longer than shorty socks but not as high a crew socks.
Here is a link to a beanie I rib knitted off the machine. You may be able to find a better way but this is what I have. I am not an expert at it that’s for sure.
