Let's get strong ankles! These simple exercises only require a theraband and a pilates block for you to come back to the studio feeling strong and confident! Plus, they're perfect to do in even the smallest spaces.

DO YOU LOVE MY LEOTARD ➭ www.cloudandvi...
As always, supporting my friend over at Cloud & Victory! This leotard quickly became a new favorite of mine and I'm sure it would be yours too. Her company is sustainably-made and cruelty-free!
(I did work together with Cloud & Victory to make this video and I am under contract as an ambassador, but I was not paid specifically for this video. I was given the leotard, but my ambassador duties are primarily on IG. 🤗)
If you're taken some time off recently (or just looking to beef up your ankle strength) you've clicked on the right video! These are the exact same exercises I do during breaks from the studio--usually vacations, but now sadly lockdowns and quarantines as well--and they work wonders keeping my naturally floppy ankles strong even without pointe work so I can return feeling confident. I hope these short exercises help you guys too! They're high rep and low impact.
Ankle strength = safe dancing
P.S. It's never a good idea to go 110% on your first class back, from my own personal experience, but of course you want to be able to do as much as you can. Not only do I feel safer en pointe after I do these exercises, I am also safer landing my jumps in class upon return. That means increased time I can participate in class after time away!

Aw thanks for saying that! I can absolutely relate to the cost of ballet being a barrier. I'm rooting for you!

Please post a similar video giving tips on hip openers for splits. Would love to see a follow-along stretching routine!

I actually do already have a video like that! I talk about the splits, arabesques, a la seconde stretching... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s_XCGJ-ztyE.html :-)

Thanks! I'm always looking for new things to do that will help. As an adult returning to pointe, my quads are the first things to get tired during pointe class 'cause I'm trying to lift so much!

I know you don’t want this to be the direction of your channel, but if you did one of these videos a month of just like “pro ballerina tip Tuesday” and it could address various questions or topics related to exercises/ stretches / conditioning. Because it is unreal that you stay this much in shape and although I’m an adult and in corporate America I still strive to your level of flexibility and strength. Just a thought!

I do want to interact more with you guys and I definitely want to do more of answering your questions! I don't get enough at the moment to constitute a dedicated video on the regular, but whenever I feel I have enough people asking, I would be happy to answer them. :-) I don't mind giving advice if it's something you guys want and I can do it in a casual and down to earth kind of way. And specifically, I love the idea of connecting with adults who just want a healthier relationship with their body!

Thank you for sharing!! Do you have a video on injuries/stretching with past injuries? Thanks!
@jeanettekakareka
@jeanettekakareka 3 года назад
No nothing like that yet, but I don't have much experience. I've only had knee injuries and it didn't require stretches. I hesitate to speak on that if I'm not certified and don't have my own experience with it. What were you looking for?
@everyloss
@everyloss 3 года назад
ballerinaandhome I definitely get that ! And obviously it’s best to always go to a doctor etc. but I’m curious of other dancers’ experiences. I personally have a few injuries but mainly it’s a torn hamstring ligament (had it for years, it just flares up at times). Thanks!

@@everyloss ahhhhh well my hamstrings have given me trouble for several years now, but it comes and goes. Personally, I got a scan and it wasn't a tear so it's different than your situation. But for me, I can't stretch my hamstrings at all when they're at their most painful and I definitely don't suggest you stretching yours either unless a certified PT specifically told you to and how. I think in a situation like this, let pain be your guide. Ballet is uncomfortable and difficult, but anything you do should not be bad pain that is the kind that will likely further injure you or prolong an injury. The only thing that relieved the tension and pain for ME was leaving it alone, loosening up the muscle (on my own on one of those duoballs but going left to right not up and down), and deep fascia massage by a professional.
