Hello sir, I'm from india I'm suffering from as from last 5 year and I'm 23 years old rn. These exercises gave me a new painless life , i really want to thank you a lot. The day i was fully pain free i cried alot cz I haven't slept pain free from last 5 years. Thanks for giving me a hope to live and a pain free life . Huge respect to you sir thanks alot. Thank you 🙏🙏
Thanks, Bob for the video. I am 73 years old. My first diagnosis of AS was when I was 22 years old, via exray. Although, I think, that it was ignited by a fall over a high hurdles race when I was 16 years old. I was a professional ballet dancer from 18-22 years old. Was very agile But needed to stop because of the AS. I then decided to teach ballet in NYC for 15 years. Very successfully! Then ( And this may sound crazy) I decided that I wanted to be a Cabinet maker and a builder. I ended up being a very successful renovation contractor in Manhattan. Did that for another 25 years and then, I did not feel that physically capable, retired at 67years old. Now, because I am no longer physical every day, I am suffering. The fusion has gone to my neck several years ago, My chiropractor has really helped. But I think the exercises you have show could be very helpful. ---- Deep Appreciation
My best suggestion is to keep moving. Two months ago I had a very bad fall directly on my back. As you know, this disease trys to fix (mistakenly) an injury by re-fussing the spine. Really sucks. But I continue the do strecheing exercises to fight back. very painful! I have been very lucky to have found an amazing holistic doctor who is helping me with holisitc diet and acupuncture and massage. The bottom line is don't give up!! This is the hand you have been dealt, but you still have a life!! make it the best, no matter what!
@@justge6191 I have been diagnosed with early AS I have some pain in my upper back and little bit in lower but I still can do exercises and workout and my doctor wanna put me under medication who has lots of side effects so I wanna just ask if you were taking any medication or you were just working out daily and were you feeling better with just exercises

Great video. Had to deal with a frozen shoulder for almost two years (16 years ago). Not much information available online at the time. Its was very severe and I had pain for months. My therapist said it was the worst case he had seen in years. I had daily phisiotherapy, tried chock waves treatment, and several other things, I couldn´t sleep for months...it was a nightmare. In September 2019, the same happen to the other sholder!! I started daily physiotherapy right way. In March with the pandemic situation the clinic closed and I had to do all the "therapy" by myself (sometimes with my wife help). The exercises are almost the same discribed in this video. It really helped a lot. The shoulder is not 100% but way better and I can do a normal life and most importante I can sleep all night! To all of you with this problem, doing this exercises daily or regulary will make you fell better and with time you will recover. Sorry about my "broken" english. :)
Hey brother I m suffering from A.S from last 2 years and I am 23 years old. I watched ur video today (16mar20) and I promise you that i will do all these exercise as you told on daily basis. And after 2-3 weeks I will surely update the condition of mine. Currently I m having strong pain behind my neck, upper back and SI joint. Hope it will work for me. Anyway goD bless you Bob.. 😉
Im not sure that I have this condition. But, I believe it's likely as for years now my lower back has this 'fused' feeling and my hips and shoulders get tight/painful. I really enjoyed the first and last excercise you provided in this video. The first one brought almost instant relief and mobility. Also, the glute bridges should help too. I do those already but now ill make sure to realllly get some sets in Thank you so much
If I have spondylitis, can I do exercises like deadlift, barbell bent-over row in the gym? Will that be good for me or will my back condition deteriorate? Besides, should I continue or avoid an exercise like seated shoulder press that puts definitely some pressure on my lower back? Can you make a general video on the kind of common exercises that people with spondylitis should strictly avoid in the gym?
Thanks for posting these videos, Bob. I’m finding this information helpful. Not diagnosed yet, but I have pain on my right side which seems to be from my SI joint. Also buttock pain on the right side. Sometimes hip pain also. My biggest problem though is I cannot sit. When I sit, I get head pressure (along with back pain). When I lay down or stop sitting after hours or a day, I’m back to my baseline again. Have you dealt with this with your patients? What are your thoughts on this? TIA
I'll be happy to help, but I need much more information. Please watch this video and see how I help my patients online. You might be interetsed in getting a customised plan for your recovery. Bob ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a7QnDi2G5-U.html
Thank you so much! I was in a lot of pain that I could not sleep all through the night. I’ve watched a lot of videos on this but this one was has been by far the most specific, informative and most importantly helpful!! Thank you again!

Hi I am experiencing severe left knee pain and left thigh pain along the hip joint for couple of days. I have been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis few years ago. Will these exercises relieve my severe knee pain?
Please start this routine daily at least once. Beside that?m, if you are worry about your pain definitely get some help from a physio who is familiar with Ankylosing spondylitis 👍 Bob
Are these excercises enough to straighten my back i have been suffering AS since 2020 but i try to do exercise daily but after 2-3 days the pain is very severe and cannot continue what should i do?
Anyone with a mild pain, not to talk about a serious flare up, would instantly be in trouble with these exercises. Just changing the positions when in pain or simply getting into one of these poses takes a lot of considerate slow movement and posture corrections because this condition seriously affects flexibility. I know I can easily move around when not in pain but I would love to see a series of exercises where the instructor is aware of how stubborn stiffness can actually be.
Thank you for your comment and I would love to discuss your issue and help you more in details. Let me know how we can organise an online consultation 🙌 Bob
I m suffering from last 5yrs with seronegative SPA, I m now 23yrs age, the exercises you have shown it helpful to relieve pain but only for some minutes, my condition is going worst day by day, my lower back bacome stiff , medicines also not working , nsaids are giving me lots of adverse effects.. plz suggest some your opinion . From India. BDW thank you😊
I would be happy to help you. Are you doing any rehab program or exercises at the moment and what activities bothering you the most? Sorry for the delay. Bob
Thaanks sir ,for your efforts to upload the video !yeah its work for my AS❤!! Im continuing the strech for two months, but recently noticed my chest pain occurred 😞,is there doing too much strech may cause chest pain ? Its Feel like Bronchospasms... Plz reply ❤️ Thank you
I was diagnosed with AS several years ago but didn't take it seriously because I only had seldom flare-ups in my lower back but now I stay in constant pain. I can't stand for more than 15 minutes at a time. And what's worse is due to covid-19 my husband lost his job of 27 years losing all of our benefits. 😪
Hi I'm just wondering how do you stop your neck straining, doing the last exercise ? I find that I start to shake when I push myself up from my elbows and my neck feels very tense and feels like its straining? Any advise ?
Emma, you could instead try the reverse crunches. In that case, you won’t lift your neck and bringing your knees down to your chest, (reverse crunch) & hod for few sec. I hope this help. Bob
Hello bob im from India suffering for as since last 7 years the pain is so much that i can't even move and currently my right knee is also getting affected as i can't walk properly by this condition So what exercises i can do for my knee to walk properly 🥺
I would be happy to help. You can start your rehab with this routine daily at least once a day for the next 5 week's and then you can progress it 🙌💪🏻. Let me know if you have any questions. BOB ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vFvK4bQbCl8.html
Amazing. Thanks! I just got diagnosed. I feel the pain in my right hip the most and I see that the muscle has shrunk just on that glute side. Do you think I should do both sides still or only do that hip raise for one side? I am not sure how to rebuild muscle that is so uneven.
You have a long way to go, mine started with a right hip pain as well. Now 5 years later I have either pain in both hips or the entire spine is inflamed.
@@souv1aki did you get diagnosed with MRI and blood work? My stuff came back negative and another rheumatologist said they didn't see signs of it. I am so confused. Do I or don't I?
@@azuremeandering4894 yeah mine blood and MRI results came back negative as well, only showing a slight inflammatory response, what made the trick was positive HLA-B27 test and coherent symptoms like atypical eye inflammation, actually right after this I got diagnosed.
@@lalitmirzapurwaale I don't get it either. I think I may have been misdiagnosed. I won't know for sure till I get into another opinion. My glutes are evening out and I am now walking couple of miles a day and feel only intermittent pain on the hip joint. And not every either. I mean where the leg goes into the socket. I read a few books from Dr. Sarno and it's been eye opening. But movement with joy instead of fear is amazing. I hope you find answers for your situation!

Inflammation in whole spine from hips to neck, still not fuse because I am doing little exercises thrice in a week, now going through the severe Inflammation and pain.
Hi, I have suffered AS since my High School days and now I am 40yo I'd like to ask if there is any exercise to reduce my belly fat? And btw, does cycling have a positive effect on my AS?
Thank you Bob for this information. I've been teaching from home for 6 months and the pain in lower back is excruciating. I think it's because of all the sitting. I've done x-rays and it says narrowing of T12/L1, L1/L2, L2/L3, L3/L4, L4/L5, joint arthropathy. The outcome degenerative spondylosis of the cervical and lumbar spine. 😒 I suppose this exercise will help😢
Hi sir,, good morning. My name is faruk, From dubai. I have 'ankylosing spondilitis' And i haven unfortunatly H L A B-27 positive Report! My some ports are very very pain. Like from nack shoulds, And lowe back, hips. And mostly foot ankle. What should i do now.
Thank you for your video. It's most appreciated. I have been misdiagnosed for 2 and a half years. My left hip and thigh is very swollen. I have inflammation in my left si joint and now its spreading to my right. I can perform all these exercises but the problem i have my left hamstring always hurts the next day due to the inflammation pressing on it. Do you know a way of solving this problem?
Iam on Biologics for a month now. No luck yet. I may consider changing my diet like this lady doctor did who has MS . She ended up in a wheelchair . No medication would help until she realised her vitamins started to help. So she altered her food to the vitamins and she is now walking , riding a bike and doing press ups. Hope this helps ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JjH-WYTs9KY.html
Hi Bob, I'm also suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis but for me the hub of pain is groin area...the pain is so critical sometimes that I can't even sleep...would you like to add on some exercise other than this for the pain in groin area?
Hi There, I would be happy to help. I have 2 separate routine on Groin injury and you can start with this routine for the next 3 weeks. Let me know if you have any questions. Bob ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JjL5kCl56XM.html
Overall great exercises! However, anyone in more than mild pain will be severely limited and in a lot of pain doing these and likely aggravate the inflammation even more. What I find in my case that works is to take care of diet and lifestyle first to reduce inflammation, and only then the body will allow, and joyfully accept, the exercises. What works for me is plenty of sleep, meditation, and clean diet: no processed foods, very little animal meat and fish, no alcohol, sugars, wheat and most other grains, no fried food etc. Let me know if you found this helpful... Always happy to share what I found helpful for me for AS. To health!!
@@souv1aki ideally: no inflammatory seed oils, no dairy, no red meat, no refined foods like flours and sugars etc, no alcohol and probably best to say no to caffeine, no beans, no fried foods. Yes to mostly plant food, some fish and poultry, natural starches like potatoes and some grains like buckwheat and barley and some more, limited fruits. Everyone is different but some foods are pure poison for us all.
Hy I am From Bangladesh, I Am HLA B-27 Positive, i Have so much back pain, I can’t sit anywhere more than 5 minutes, After that I can’t stand up properly? Give me some tips how can i relief from this pain.
Lower hip region both left & right . When I lie down it pains and morning it becomes very stiff. All of a sudden it happened. I m seeing rheumatologist since 4 years.
Hi bob I would love to ask a question so if i person workouts daily of course with weights and stuff like that but i feel sometimes pain in my lower back and glutes but i sure train daily, so what are your thoughts on this like i am a teenager and tall so some tells me because of my tallness but that doesn’t explain the glute pain and i need a professional’s point of view 👍🏻
I wouldn't be worry about your hight, that's just their openion !! in regards to the pain, I'm thinking you might have been training too much?! how often do you train? Bob
@@captainchaos5421 that's exactly what I was thinking. Take at least 2 days rest 👌 That would do the job and make sure your sleep and diet is on spor 😄💪🏻 your body need more time for recovery !! (while your training you breaking down microfiber muscle tissue & when you rest sleep + sufficient nutrients = your body recover and build muscle). You don't build muscle when your training !! more training is not equal growth 😄💪🏻💡 Bob

I am in Brazil And was diagnosed with AS. It was hard to walk or just wash dishes. Since I start the workout i felt better. I mix with your other video for spondy like bringing the knees to the chest, abs, using the towel and so. Now I purchase the roller to place on upper back side. It takes time. My first days I had sort of muscular pain. Is it normal in the begging to feel some muscular pain??
@@bobthephysio great thank you. Also when doing the exercises in this video I’m noticing a pulling at the inside of both knees. For example the glut bridges and the posterior hip tilt. Does this mean I’m doing them wrong?
