The former "Today" co-anchor told People magazine her departure from the morning show "hurt like hell" and said she feels "outraged" about allegations of sexual misconduct facing Matt Lauer.
I met her several years ago, I was standing outside the today show. Unlike her former co anchors who walked passed us and ignored us, Ann Curry came over to where we standing, said hello and talked to us for a bit. And she gave me a part of her script. Very warm and classy woman💜
She appears and speaks like she has a brain, my objective statement. The subsequent replacements do not. One can tell by their reporting, comments and "banter" on the morning show.
She knew this was going on, and did not say anything. Not that classy - more like someone who knew where her bacon was coming from, and played a long as long as she could.
We dont really know all that happened. These big companies sometimes make it plain they dont want to know anything negative about their "stars". I always thought Ann Curry made the show and now those who are left will do anything to keep their jobs. These big companies pay huge salaries and then when they "have you" they can tell you what to do, to think, to say, to feel. You are theirs! Ann has my respect!
@@layton3503 she did report to the management team when a female co-worker painfully shared her sexual harassment by Lauer with her, but they didn't do anything about it. She's screwed by NBC, so was Ronan Farrow. True honest journalists like them have no place in NBC, because NBC constantly covered up scandals and silence the victims. I strongly recommend the book Catch and Kill. It's shocking how power imbalance is sabotaging the careers and lives of journalists or employees in the organization with integrity.
Missed her from the very start. She brought so much class, knowledge, compassion to the show. Still miss her. So glad she is doing well. Thank you Ann.
Rumorady - Matt Lauer used to complain about a Curry to his bosses. I think she didn’t play along. With his flirty, inappropriate games, plus she was a fast rising star ⭐️ while Lauer was already a star, arrogant, conceited and going after woman! Matt was responsible for Anne being let go. I stopped watching that show when Curry was fired. and wouldn’t you know it he turned out to be a big pervert making 20 MIL a year. Congratulations Matt, you turned out as I had hoped. Sorry for Mrs. Lauer though.
When I heard of the bullying and verbal abuse she suffered from co-workers, I stopped watching NBC altogether since they seemed to be okay with it. No repercussions for any employees for what they put her through. It got so bad she had to quit. I still don't watch NBC to this day because of it.
Me either. Also, I cannot STAND Savannah Guthrie. After she made such cruel comments about women who need to nurse their babies in public (keeping in mind that the vast majority of these women drape a blanket or do all they can to be discreet), I lost all respect for this stupid, entitled bitch. Must be nice to have multiple nannies and not need to ever resort to emergency nursing. She makes many millions of dollars per year for playing diva on TV for 2 hours, 5 days per week. I'm sure there are many working moms who wish they had that gig!
She didn't quit cus she wanted to though , Matt was the one that got her fired telling his bosses... "either she goes or I go", knowing how popular he was at the time, he was and still is an asshole.👿💩
Sadly, I think it was because a lot of male viewers HATED her. As I noted in another comment, with all due respect to Ms. Curry, I would have myself replaced Meredith Viera with Erin Burnett (then with CNBC and she had several stints filling in for Ms. Viera), who IMO would have likely brought her CNBC audience with her. A lot of that audience was high income male viewers who are very difficult to reach by advertisers and quite coveted by such (Ms. Burnett left after being passed over for the timeslot).
Ann has NOTHING to apologize for. I can't begin to imagine the fury of injustice and abuse of power this creep displayed against him. Ann has too much class and integrity to seek revenge. She is a lovely, kind and compassionate human being. Matt Lauer has displayed to the world, WHO he is. Ann is even more beautiful than she was 5 years ago. She has her treasures stored in heaven
IKR. Matt still owes both Ann Curry and Britney for the way he humiliated both of them. However, in the end, they (Ann and Britney) are still thriving. Matt on the other hand, is flat broke and shunned by his friends (except Bryant Gumbel), LOL. P.S. Matt's former boss Jeff Zucker is also unemployed like Matt after getting his own karma by resigning from CNN. Karma to both Matt and Jeff, LMAO!
i know Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
Love Ann Curry. Always have. Never been a fan of Matt Lauer. Hope he changes his ways. Good for Ann Curray just keeps moving forward though she never should of been fired from the today show. Glad she's channelling that pain to help others instead of vengeance. Just wow.
When Matt Lauer was recently exposed and fired I immediately thought to myself: and he did Ann Curry wrong too! When does she get an apology? He’s a misogynist on top of his creepy smugness. How couldn’t everyone see right through him the way he was? I did.
When Matt got out of line, Ann should of slap him telling him he had some nerve talking to her that way. If Matt reported her, she should of went to the tabloids & told them everything & cash in.
Twenty years from now after things have all aged and changed, KARMA will still be defined as What happened to Matt Lauer after what he did to Ann Curry.
Ken Johnson Yup, so true! I was very upset NBC let her go, lost all respect for them and Matt Lauer, he got what he deserved!! I wish Ann all the best, she's a class act that rarely exists anymore!
Thank you for speaking your truth you ARE not alone . This when I thought that he was not the image they were projecting at the public ! This is one classy lady ! ✌💪
I wish people would understand that sexual harassment happens to men as well. I am a gay man who was repeatedly harrassed by the Hispanic kitchen crew at a restaurant in Florida. At first I brushed it off and tried to joke with them and hoped it would dissipate but it became a daily event that made me increasingly uncomfortable. Eventually I had to report it, and can you believe it- it made them angry!!! They said it was just in fun and I must not have ever worked in restaurant before because this was regular horsing around activity in kitchens. I said maybe in Costa Rica but I have a waiter for 25+ years and have never experienced this anywhere else
Curry is so classy and elegant. I think this may make her not the best cohost for today show because she doesn’t seem to be super entertaining, but I really like her as a person.
It is obviously true that Ann will talk about what happened on the show, after a employee has been out of a job for a x amount of years then things will be brought to light.
Has anyone asked Ann directly, "Have you EVER signed a non disclosure agreement with NBC?' She seems to be "extra careful" about what she says and doesnt say.
It was all Matt's doing that Ann had to leave NBC. Him rubbing her back as she gives her exit speech makes me want to vomit. Her too if you watch her body language. All the while, him knowing it's his fault and what he was doing to her. I hope he never gets another job. NBC paid him enough to live on the rest of his life.
This was ten tears ago. Lok at the people who heard her say that sexual and verbal harassment was pervasive. She said it 10 years ago and nobody did anything then. Nobody.
I loved Ann and I quit watching Today when she was gone. I didn’t know the back story but they should have been ashamed of themselves for letting her go.
Every time Matt had an inappropriate situation on the Today show.. I would cringe and feel sickened and when Ann left the show I never watched it after that. My show is now good morning America and I should have never left in the first place. Can’t wait to see Ann Curry’s new show...
I was a lifelong Today watcher, and, I, too, no longer watch due to what NBC did to Ann. Ann was not the problem. Matt was the problem but you did nothing. I am moving on...
Always liked her. Seemed genuinely nice and sweet not to mention very smart. Looks go without saying but I watched Today because of her looks but she just had a calm way of delivering the news. Very professional
Matt Lauer, never fan! Rude, crude and Lude! When Ann left, I heard Lauer had a hand in it. I knew a big cover up. Celebrate Ann! Karma Always Working!
AS SOON AS THEY TOOK HER OFF......I HAVE NEVER...EVER WATCHED THE SHOW AGAIN......AND NEVER WILL.....SHE ROCKED.....SHE WAS GREAT ON THE JOB...AND WAS SWEET AND KIND.......
You did good work but in addition to the sexual harrassment, I could see the jealousy the other women on the show held towards you. Glad you landed on your feet and are doing well.
Hope NBC learned a lesson, fired the douchbag, Matt Lauer........and keep the intelligent, classy, warm, gorgeous, Ann Curry. They made a huge mistake, Ann is one of the Greatest journalists ever!
She is one of a handful of Asian American anchors/ journalist featured prominently. Representation matters!!! The bottom line is she was ousted in favor of a White male. It was a huge loss. So, many women look-up to her. I'm glad she's vindicated in the end.
I love Ann Curry. I find it strange and disturbing that the language used is so obtuse, so guarded. WHY ARE WE NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK THE TRUTH? THIS HAS TO END!
Back then, they should have gotten rid of Matt, and found someone new to put with Ann...if the ratings HAD gone down during that time, it was not her fault.
