I saw Annaleigh is Glinda in Chicago and walked out of the theatre crying for Glinda and not really caring about Elphaba. She is the Glinda by which I measure all other Glindas
This thought just occurred to me, but it's brilliant that in this scene, Galinda says Fiyero doesn't know yet that they're gonna get married and that's exactly what happens in Thank Goodness: Fiyero didn't know they were going to get married.
Just saw her Oct 2023 in Sweeney Todd! Incredible comedic timing, just the horniest Mrs Lovett 😂 She's so talented and knows how to milk an audience for laughs!!!
im so jealous. i waited at the stage door for an hour before realizing there was another show and the actors werent coming out. i wanted her, josh and gatens autographs so bad
well its more the fact that it was her last performance its a sort of tradition for the three big leads (elphaba, glinda, fiyero) to go all out with their performances. they all do a bit more improv and you see them doing opt ups in their songs that their not technically allowed to do but its their last performance so who’s stopping them
I don’t know, I saw it last night and it was very funny, and seemed quite a bit improv-y to me. It’s so cool though to see the differences in each performance.
Have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of Annaleigh's Glinda for much of her run BUT I can't help but be bizarrely (and unjustly) proud of how her career has grown since these days. Cannot wait to see what is next for her.
Wicked seemed to be what catapulted her career, she was an understudy on the 1NT from 2005-6 and performed opposite Julia. She’s obviously been in Rent, Kinky Boots and also has plenty of TV credits to her name too. I agree she’s not everyone’s cup of tea as Glinda but she must have done something right. She's very successful now! And like you said, so proud of her. You can see the growth in every show she did. ❤
@@AlexHurleyMusic (for what it's worth, she also performed opposite Victoria Matlock and probably Maria Eberline on the 1NT; on Braodway, opposite Stephanie J. Block, Lisa Brescia, & Chelsea Krombach; in Chicago, opposite Lisa Brescia, Jennifer DiNoia, Vicki Noon, & Dee Roscioli.)
The way she gets off the bed at 0:19 😂 The inability to understand personal space at 1:30 😂 The "I have misjudged" walk back at 3:34 😂 Whatever the hell that sound was at 5:03 😂 "On their own behalf 👄 to 👄 think 👄 of...." 5:11 😂 Annaleigh, what is happening? 6:11 😂 AnnaleighAshford.exe has stopped working 6:24 😂 More chaos incoming in 3, 2, 1... 6:50 😂 And I think that's the move that hooked Fiyero 7:43 😂 YEEEEEEEEEEET (NB, what's funnier? A stagehand catching it or a sudden Wiley Coyote scream from stage left?) 8:27 😂 And ladies and gentlemen, here's a moment that brings incredible depth to a hilarious character. "No, you're going to LOOK at yourself and you're going to see what I see." 😭 Helllllllllllllllllllllllllo 9:17 😂 BIG FINISH 9:57
Not even close. But at the same time, every cast replacement is going to be compared to the original, especially when it’s the same production, staged in the same way. I saw Kristin Chenoweth and the OBC in Wicked a week before it opened, and to be honest, I rather like this performance better. Feels more playful, less forced.
