Come with me to Scarborough for Part Two of Anne Brontë’s Final Journey. I visit the locations of her final days, her grave, the spot where she died, as well as attend ‘About Anne’, an event held in memory of Anne Brontë by The Anne Brontë Association. Is there much to see of the old Scarborough? How did Charlotte Brontë and her friend Ellen Nussey cope?

ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Kate-a huge fan of the Brontë Sisters for many years. Upon relocating to Yorkshire with my husband, I found myself irresistibly drawn to the village of Haworth, home of the Brontë Sisters and my obsession grew. It was during the challenging days of the Lockdown in 2020 that I decided to channel my passion into action. Disappointed by the lack of quality Brontë-themed goodies available, I embarked on a mission to create my own and my online shop was born.
Since then, I've immersed myself in the world of literature, attending Book Festivals and events across the UK. Inspired by my adventures and encouraged by the enthusiastic response from fellow Brontë enthusiasts on social media, I decided to share my experiences through RU-vid videos.
Curious to learn more about me and explore the treasures in my online shop? Visit www.thebrontesi...

Anne was one tough cookie! She chose a beautiful place to transition to the other side. 😢

How she coped when she had already seen her brother and sisters die and knowing what the end can be like. I'm just pleased she could be in her favourite place.

Heart breaking for Charlotte, who took weeks to return to Haworth.

It must have been a horrid time for her and then go home and face her Father grief too.

You seem to like Anne as much as I do! I don’t think there’s enough about her out there. My favourite sister who wrote my favourite novel of the three. I absolutely adore The Tennant of Wildfell Hall!

When I was a teenager I was a total Jane Eyre fan but when I reread Wildfell Hall a few years back I suddenly realised how amazing this book was. Maybe because I am older and I understand Helen more I don't know but I do love Anne's work. Don't get me wrong, I still love Jane Eyre but Wildfell has overtaken the 1st place slot in my world now.

@@brontesistersuk I love all of their works but I am a distinctly Anne fan. Strangely, I prefer Agnes Gray over Jane Eyre.

One of the details of these last days which has always stayed with me was Ellen's note about the doctor's impression of Anne: ‘in all his experience he had seen no such death-bed, and that it gave evidence of no common mind.’ Part of that may have been that when Anne asked him about how much time she had left, she specifically asked him not to please tell her the truth because she wasn't afraid.

I remember reading that and thinking she was a brave lady. I hope her faith gave her comfort in her last few days. Thank you for watching.

@@brontesistersuk Thanks for the lovely presentation. I was in Scarborough many years ago for a Bronte Society sponsored meeting focusing on Anne. Edward Chitham was a featured guest speaker, and it was lovely to hear him. I do remember walking on the shore and thinking about it being the North Sea; thinking about Anne and the donkey incident, and looking at the castle ruins. It was a triple gift for me being there: Anne, Richard III and Piers Gaveston all have associations with Scarborough and they're all of extreme interest to me.

This is such a beautiful video, alongside part 1. So lovingly respectful towards Anne and Charlotte x Its beautifully filmed! Can I ask what camera you use to film? thank you for your beautiful content! x

Thank you. I wanted to tell their story not make a drama out of it and being there it felt so much more real than when I read about it. I felt quite emotional putting the feathers on her grave. As I am only starting out in the crazy world of RU-vid I am only using my mobile phone to film for now (with a plug in microphone). I am aware of the camera's limitations so am very careful about lighting and focus. One day I will get a proper camera, I am saving up for it.

@@brontesistersuk Thank you for your lovely replies! Well I have to say your filming is excellent! You have a gift for it. Whatever phone you are using the filming quality is fantastic! I'm starting out on RU-vid too, creating guided meditations @thesoulscompass & @thetravellingmystic where I channel the energies of sacred places, I've just done a video on Glastonbury Tor. I am planning a visit to channel the energies & wisdom of the Bronte waterfalls. I look forward to your future videos! :)

What can be said of yet another one of your beautiful, heartfelt tributes to one of the Brontës? Each one is so beautiful. Thank you for all your efforts to share with the world....being a former video creator myself I know the time it takes to put one together and have it convey feelings....you have that gift. And it's wonderful that you take your daughter along on your Bronte adventures. How appropriate that a rainbow appeared at 11:10. And your friends, the seagulls, were thanking you for Anne. She now soars high with them ❤

Thank you for taking us with you, and showing us the places that have gone. I didnt know the Grand Hotel was built where the boarding house used to be.Its still something I've yet to do, visit Anne's grave. The sea was where she wanted to be, think Ellen was a true friend to support Charlotte and Anne there. It was really lovely to see the little rainbow, thank you.
