Anne Lister | "I am always alright" 

Have you listened to the Very Gay Very Ladylike podcast? They just posted a new one where they spoke to a medium, and I know how crazy it sounds but it was astounding. I think the vast majority are cons but this was unlike anything I have heard. The episode is called Energetic Ripples, and the hosts ask this very question.

If there is an afterlife I hope Ann has found peace at last and is reunited with Anne & aunt Anne - and trust that they never encounter that despicable cad "reverend" Ainsworth, nor that scheming fortune hunter George Mackay Sutherland and his son Evan.

@@elizabethwhite1068 thanks for the recommendation, based on your comment I listened to the podcast. It was very interesting; I am a fan of Hollywood medium Tyler Henry so I had some idea of what to expect, the medium whom the girls consulted with sounded pretty legitimate. The bits where Anne encouraged the podcasters to continue their work raising awareness for gender equality, saying that her greatest accomplishment was her own sense of self-awareness in the face of societal pressures, and referring to Ann Walker as her 'soul mate' were so lovely!

I agree that Anne Lister was an amazing woman, gay or straight, and I don't know how she dealt with so many rejections. but don't forget the incredible courage that it took Ann Walker to overcome her tribe of relations, her god, her lack of self-confidence and crippling shyness, her mental illness, and her own self-homophobia. Anne Lister had the tools of self-confidence, charisma, her god and her family's blessing, and she trained herself to 'rise above' what people said about her and the stares they gave her which Ann Walker lacked; yet she, too, married a woman.

If all else fails I bought an all-region blu-ray player and the blu-ray discs for season 1 on Amazon. The disc set comes from Britain, so a regular blu-ray player won't work.
