I love Henning May‘s music. My favorite songs from by him are,Lass es Kreisen and vermissen and ich will heute nicht tanzen and ausgehen 👍 Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
It is said that a blues musician only makes real good music after having gone through some serious dire straits. Henning May has lost his mother when he was a little kid plus he lost a good friend later. That's what you hear when he sings.
He’s a deep soul and able to express his feelings so very beautifully that it transcends language barriers. My ex wife is East German and surprise her romantically I learned and practiced singing this song for months, most often while driving alone to and from work. I’m not a good singer by any stretch of the imagination and it’s something I would avoid entirely, well out of my comfort zone. I’m an Aussie guy and I only know English so having Learned from Listening and copying I had made some hilarious approximations to some words but before singing to her I bothered to learn the correct words, and meanings and practiced again until I could “get it right” ( or close enough not to be completely humiliated ) Once I was confident enough I picked my moment and went for it. Driving with her, on a Sunday drive through the rainforest in far North Queensland I put Pocahontas on and turned the volume up just a little and steadied my nerve to release my voice hoping to Wow her and to pull it off without choking up or worse yet crying! As the into starts up and I’m focusing on catching and matching the exact moment to start and keep pace and pronunciation and clarity of voice etc just at that moment of about to start she announces to me in a clearly annoyed manor “ I’m so damn sick of this song, put something else on.” I was crushed. We were still married at that time. She still doesn’t know. I do apologise for the self centred long story as a RU-vid comment on your video, but I had an unexpectedly connected human moment watching you discover this song for the first time and I guess because I’ve kept the fact I can sing it word perfect in her language a secret from literally everyone in my life this gave me my outlet to express something of how I feel about that. I can never get through the trumpet without a tear. Thankyou:)
Hey Sarah, a really nice reaction! Did you know that your last name "Dengler" comes from mediaeval German? A craftsman who sharpens scythes, sickles, etc. by hammering.
Lyrics in English: Pocahontas Standing at the bus stop and it hurts To see you like that again And it hurts that we're about to leave And it hurts just to see each other Because I have so much stuff from you Lying around that I can no longer bear I'm not holding you And I don't let go you finish me The bag is big I'm sorry Pocahontas I hope you know that I'm sorry Pocahontas I hope you know that Actually, we've been together far too long to stop now But that's a damn shitty reason And I do care how well you know me And I do care what you call me And I do care Where you are sleeping I'm sorry Pocahontas I hope you know that I'm sorry Pocahontas I hope you know that I'm so sorry Pocahontas Pocahontas Pocahontas Pocahontas I'm sorry Pocahontas I hope you know that I'm sorry Pocahontas You know that I'm not holding you And I don't let go I'm not holding you Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Christopher Annen / Severin Kantereit / Henning Gemke / Malte Huck
