I could listen to that woman tell stories of Hollywood all day. A "too bad she's married" individual if there ever was one. If only Graham could have lived at a more modern time when women had more freedom, who knows how brightly her life and stardom might have shown.
With regard to smoking in scenes: A stagehand at 20th Century-Fox in the late 60s was quoted in John Gregory Dunne's seminal book "The studio" that actor Steve Cochran would always try to have a scene in which he is shown opening a pack of cigarettes, and was not above muffing takes in order to have to open a new pack. According to the stagehand, come the end of the day, Cochran would sometimes walk off with almost a full carton of smokes.

benning in the story of grahame was excellent. grahame did so many other performances that were far superior to the one she won the AA for. Thsi interview was kind of without any insight.
Anette Benning is not impressive. Who cares if she likes the movie? She is playing a role playing an actress. And Gloria Grahame was not wearing a long dress on her Oscar Night.
