Annettes speech made alot of sense her views of the state of things puts the whole situation into plain language that can be understood even though I have known annette for a number of years I was proud of the way she spoke earlier today like I said she said it how it is she was direct and to the point and she did it in a respectful way too all all I can say thankyou annette for a very poiniante speech
Most trustworthy in our world is Shane Jones he kaha tana poupou korero raua ki te wero Hoi ano it is what it is our world has been consumed by hyper materialists and aggressors who in fact profit from big corporations the politicians are there to serve their communities but the bureaucracy and administration have consumed and taken over the world completely.
Well spoken Annette and so Accurate. Very intelligent lady, more people need to listen to her speech. Seymour says the unwashed part is not true, how can you believe someone like that when he has made many untrue statements himself like Maori ceded sovereignty to the Crown.
@@logicalanswer3529 how do you know I don’t know them I know Winston very well and sat with David at Winston’s home in whananaki northland just outside hikurangi also I know that Winston drinks 3 bottles of wine and smokes 2 packets of rothmans when he flys home from the beehive every Friday and stops at the four square in hikurangi to buy his fix so please get you fax’s right before you open your pie hole E NOHO my bro you are barking up the wrong tree you don’t know them you mean, but you are a grain of sand here and we are the sea water that washed you away. Funny thing the underbelly can sit at the same table also with political people also. So before you come up with a logical answer please understand us Māori have a seat at many tables and we have connections everywhere
I'm glad she spoke. She is right. One of the reasons why the Treaty had to be put into place was because of all the prostitution and crime happening from settlers up at Russell. Her and Tina Ngata know their stuff in terms of colonisation, James Cook and the Treaty. We need more academic wāhine Māori and Tāne who use their mouth and brains to break down systemic racism within the goverment like this.
I was 8 when I immigrated to nz, nothing to do with me. Go see queen Victoria if you have issues! Yeah, shes dead, just like that treaty writen on a piece of shitpaper
We like Annette, who is wise, eloquent, tactful, pointed, deliberate and well educated, among many other things; notwithstanding her ‘job’ as a ‘lawyer’ though, Annette professionally walks that distinctive fine line of when to wear the ‘pants’, or not; lots of love to all neighbours and those at Waitangi from BOP; PS. stay healthy and out of trouble❤;

The Maori people are part of the B2dna included in this B2dna are the American Indians, Polynesians ,Austranesians, Japanes, Koreans, Eastern Russians, Chinese peoples with this B2dna this makes them all the biggest nation on the planet madeup of many tribes one big family, China knows this
Fortunately, the mana-less behaviour from some who interrupted people speaking. Did not stop Winston and David getting their message across. They were clever enough to use the disrespectful people who could not control their emotions in a way to prove their own point. It was brilliant.
@@logicalanswer3529 interrupting a ceremonial speech does not negate the greater disrespect of denying millions the right to speak on proposed fundamental changes.
@@freezing5 They are two separate issues. I was mentioning the mana-less behaviour of the people who could not control their irrational emotions on the day.
By giving money to an iwi and not a hapu which signed the treaty they’re already in breach. The iwi is a corporation set up after the treaty was signed in order to corral Maori into easy to manage entities. These entities go for survival over divvying out the funds. It’s understandable. They do offer scholarships and other things you can appply for I’ve done it myself. So blame the iwi but blame the waitangi tribunal and also the govt for not giving money directly to hapu. Hapu whose land has been trampled and stolen and confiscated and we only got about 4% of it back so don’t complain to much we should take it all back.
@logicalanswer3529 Prior to waitangi seemore&winny never thought of respecting Moari's by not consulting Moari's thats why they weren't given respect from moari on waitangi day they obviously went the wrong way about there referendum thats what it was all about chanting during their speech
Wow, way to 'Māori Shame' him. So you are MORE Māori than him are you What happened to whakapapa? I thought this was the only criteria to be Māori, no matter the blood quantum But this woman, she wants to shame him because he is a Māori she disagrees with so that makes it alright.
@terrynicol4548 Point is seemore went the wrong ways interacting his bill wasn't personal if he had done it right in a respectful way towards Moari then Moari would be obligated to listen to his proposal as simply as that discussion would of been open for debate on principles but him &winny choose the opposite governments are known to not hereby process protocols when it comes Moari history repeats itself everytime
@logicalanswer3529 seemore/winny disrespected Moari's prior to waitangi so what comes around goes around how it goes Show no respect get no respect how it goes?

Maori ownership of the water? How does that make any sense. Water is god-given to ALL people - not just a minority group... but of course if you can make enough noise... some will buy the nonsense.
If Maori own water then it follows they also own any damage caused by water, either too little or too much. Can they make it rain or stop raining on demand🤔
us three million unwanted, uninvited, unconstitutional white settlers are the wrong white cloud. even the littlewood "treaty" does no not permit white individual or corporate land ownership. the treaty ensures Māori tikanga, law, justice - only - across every square centimetre of the moth. is the aim is to end colonisation, or to perfect it? i nga awa ki nga moana ka watea a Aotearoa Aotearoa mo Māori anake.- ake ake ake
Uninvited maybe. Yet you are here and we are here. This is our home and it is now yours. I certainly hope we can all get along better as the new world is all our common foe . And Maori Pakeha and all peoples of Aotearoa will need to stand at some point together and say No more to the sick evil shite that happens on this planet. Let us be one when it counts people
E tu my brother you are not unwanted, uninvited or unconstitutional, the thing about Māori people love and honour, respect and loyalty is the thing that makes us who we are, but others don’t see it that way if they only knew. Also yes we can be pig headed most times and be very aggressive but who isn’t we are only human like the rest of the world. What people don’t understand is if we went to England and did what they have done to us the English people would fight fight fight for their land women and children as we do, we welcome you and the 3 million of your people with open arms as our ancestors did but 80% of the 3 million want to calm and steal and forget what happened here and not-honouring the treaty and want to cut off our open arms instead
That line of thought only works for those chiefs who signed the English version - and history tells us that the 39 who did were advised to by a the missionary Maunsell - a trusted and by all accounts, respected member of the clergy by Maori - as there was no more room left on the Te Reo copy which states Maori did not cede their Tino Rangatiratanga.
@@joskempbaker831 I believe Maori kept their chieftainship rights over the territories and boundaries they agreed upon at the signing. Do you really think the British empire was agreeing to 'co govern' with a few thousand people. New Zealand was a nuisance to them as there were no resources worth conquering the country for and they didn't need another war, they were already engaged in 4 separate conflicts and new Zealand wasn't worth the expense but I'm sure queen Victoria and the British government didn't see themselves as anything but the dominant party to the agreement.
@@jackiebiggs7071 Yes Jackie, retaining tino rangatiratanga over their whenua, Resources and people are what Rangatira agreed to. The co-governance thing I would say not so much, as this word contradicts tino rangatiratanga of our leaders - in saying that, and this is my personal view - finding a way to co-habitate without trampling over each other has to be a goal we can set as a Nation. I have family members who served in the NZ forces who promised allegiance to God, for King and for Country, losing their lives in doing so. The expanse between isn't so vast that a bridge cannot be built. I have grandchildren of Britsh, Scottish, Canadian, Australian and American descent as well as Maori, I want their world and world view to be better and more than what is going on today. If that means hard conversations have to be had, in order to get there as a nation, kei te pai. We will learn and grow together.
why do we have treaty ...to stop the slaughter of Maori whanau my ancestors did not want to sighn a treaty for what was already ours ..we had no choice but to sighn kia ora Jackie
@@maidaursuladawn44glasgow3 you don't make friends fighting for your rights. Maybe you have very judgemental friends. Still, how about you fathom some of your own opinions on her instead of relying on friends and THEN making these comments.
@@Camwin Oh dear to be lectured at the age of 80 years by a person who has no idea of my or my family’s history or the contribution the said family has made to this beautiful country of ours. While I have no desire to embarrass my family by having a conversation about those things. Cant understand what your saying. Cant read maori Treaty but I can understand English and I go by the Littlewood Treaty, the original final writ found in 1989 but concealed by corrupt maori! The final writ was translated thats why the maoris are in error
Cool story. I can't speak french, but I don't go commenting that fact on French videos 🤣🤣 International law is pretty clear that the text signed by the natives, in their native tongue, is the document that holds precedent. If there are discrepencies between documents, then the one in their tongue is the one to be taken as law. If there is any misunderstanding, or any vagueness, then the interpretation also goes in favour of Māori. Again, international law. It's not that hard to learn enough to translate the text yourself. Google translate is pretty good these days, there are very reliable Māori dictionaries, and ChatGPT is specifically designed to understand language. No excuse for pākehā like you and I to be entirely unable AND unwilling to learn the language AND to comment on Māori texts in the same vein... We can continue being ignorant, or we can learn and read for ourselves. We don't get to do both at once.
the so called littlewood papers are not a treaty, nobody signed it. The Maori version was signed 10 times more than the English version. go educate yourself.

😮why was the issue of Gaza brought to Waitangi day, more so saturation in Gaza was a war started by a terrorist group supported by 70% of Palestinian people this kaupapa with the Palestinian shouldn't have been brought to Waitangi,
The history of the Gaza strip is much more than its recent horrors. If this govt upholds peace yet supports the violence against the Palestinian people what trust should Maori place with it now, if it continues to support war on an an indigenous people who have been stripped of their rights since the 1940s. Lest we forget. When people fight back they are called terrorists. Many times in history the victims were labeled terrorists. War is wrong. Who cast the first stone
