"Our country’s future is bright - and I hope that future has a place for everyone in it. I have dreams and aspirations for my four children, their children, and your moko. A dream of unity and respect for each other - a dream that we move forward as a country while still respecting each other’s values."
Nicole McKee was the first woman to speak during the Pōwhiri at Waitangi. Watch her historic speech.

David Seymour out here acting like she got cut-off, when to me it looks like she got to say her full speech.

Again the spirit of love and unity was strong at Waitangi. Even moreso this year the people were enthused with hope for a future NZ based on understanding and respect. Another beautiful uplifting Waitangi day.

She was careful with her speech. Well said and inclusive of all New Zealanders. A starting point for unity.

Great speech ! I found myself actually wanting to learn the Maori language for the first time in my life I think because she was speaking of unity for all and demonstrating respect for all. Interesting that ;)

you should listen to more Māori speeches at Waitangi, that's exactly what everyone spoke of and speaks of every year. Unity/Kōtahitanga for all.

I probably should - We have such an amazing country and we should never be segregated by our skin tone or ethnicity but rather the deeds that we perform - thank you@@Camwin

Great speech. We all need to learn that we don't own the land, we are all equal caretakers, we need to share and unite and look after one another.

well you might want to tell this capitalist government we inherited that becasue they are choosing to not take care of our land. Māori are here to remind them of that.

Māori leading the way yet again. Mana wāhine in a te ao māori world. Look to Te Tiriti and our mana wāhine signed that well before woman even got the vote. Ka rawe Nicole. Proud to be Māori.

Great effort, its a pity the content reeks of Capitalistic naivity. Keep speaking Maori and your mindset will change

@@mitchelldenysschen3224 don't be playing no saviour here, we can recognise that capitalism has done both good and harm to our society and environment. Plus, they mentioned capitalistic NAIVITY, not capitalism altogether. no need to jump the gun.
