The Annex Engineering K2, first day of belted movements. 2.5 amp steppers running at 1.6a, with 30v. Not that it needs to, but it’d go about 50% faster on 48v! No Z yet, will belt that up tomorrow, then toolhead last (have a magnum+ coming for it).

That looks super smooth :) good work

Thanks man! It's much more brute force compared to the elegance you've done (510 XY rails, 400 size area, heavy)!

Man that is a sweet looking machine. Can’t wait to see it printing. Nice job.

Nice, going to be for daylight hours only judging by the noise, but I guess at those speeds you don't need to wait day and night for a print ;)

I retuned it to 1.2 M/s @ 20k last night, with the castors unlocked, it was moving around like a unbalanced washing machine!

Nice!! May I ask, why you have chosen cross-gantry over e.g. corexy?
@JoshMurrah
@JoshMurrah 3 года назад
fair question. I like trying out new things - I have a cross gantry CNC (MPCNC) but I've never tried 3dp with cross gantry. This kinematic should support larger build volumes better as well, this build is 400mm^3 with 510mm XY rails.

@@JoshMurrah thanks, pretty thick belts as well! 12mm?

Are these the upper limit for speeds for this size?

what's the build volume?

This is a 400mm^3 build, it's a big boi

Do you think you'll be able to do a sub 4 minute benchy with this thing?
@JoshMurrah
@JoshMurrah 3 года назад
I doubt it'll be able to, it's a big boi, 400mm^3 build area, XY rails are 510mm - but so far it seems that it'll be at least as fast as my 2.4, at a larger size, so I'm happy with that.

Trails has done a 4 minute benchy on the 24v 350mm3 tycho. I think with 48v the k2 should get close (and tycho will be even faster that 4min)

those rails are designed to be vertical so the bearings roll by hanging and with the weight. putting them horizontal will have more friction along the flat surface between the screws
@C1Rob1990
@C1Rob1990 3 года назад
Take a look at the annex engineering git and RU-vid. The K1 and k2 used to have vertically oriented rails but these work better this way

Is anyone offering full build kits like they do for the Voron?
