Bruh I feel like that sometimes cuz my siblings are racist trump supporter who be thinking Jesus is white and they think their going to heaven for being homophobic
@origami for beginners she may also have been forced to post pictures of them in her home, also, she's a foster mom for a big family of those little brats. How can she not see them EVERYWHERE?
1999 Hannigan was had ass whooping talk in her. Kathy Bates would always come in 1st place for that, especially if you compare her to Angie Harmom in the glass house 2
kenpoarniceguy1 2014 Hanigan is also drunk but in the middle because she halusinaiting little girls like the table and chair even tho they are just nomal objects
This song in particular definitely demonstrates the difference between the portrayal of the 1982 Hannigan and the 2014 Hannigan. While the 1982 version had more of a comedic flair to it to give her this “oh, she’s just a miserable old woman who’s cranky and hates kids!” sense which definitely works with that adaptation of the film. Whereas, the 2014 version shows a different version of her, trading out some of the emotional repression for instead outward displays of genuine anguish and frustration, as if Hannigan is reaching a breaking point in her life, as well as more lines about her unfulfilled dreams. It very much gives her more of a “This is a woman whose life did not turn out the way she wanted to, and she’s in very deep pain and emotional anguish as a result of that” appeal to the audience.
I feel like Hannigan was so underrated in the 2014 version. She had everything she wanted in life and in the fraction of a second it was all ripped from her grasps. Then she had to foster kids just to get by, yes she could’ve been kinder to them but she has a reason to be salty. Honestly I’m surprised she hadn’t tried to end it all, especially with the choice of words she uses, not just the “please kill me I’m not singing I’m asking” but also the “i slipped through the cracks and now I can’t seem to find my way back.” And then the added guilt of sending Annie with two complete strangers- you could see that she was genuinely concerned for her, and more so when she broke character and asked the other girls for help, honestly she’s the queen of character development and she deserves more than what she was given in life.
tbh once you actually listen to the song when ur older, you can see the amount of drama that she went through and the sentence “please kill I’m serious I’m not kidding I’m asking”. It really shows that she wants to be this actor and how she wants to get out of this house
yeah i really feel for miss hannigan in this version. She’s struggling with her life and i think she has serious problems with drinking and may be suffering from depression. i think Cameron plays this character really well and brings a new light to miss hannigan.
i LOVE this song. it’s just a jumbled up emotion on how most depressed or mental people act. how they want things to change and how they’re tired of living. “exhausted, angry, tired of life” is the biggest way to say this woman is completely done with everything lmao
Cameron Diaz is not the best singer? True. Was she a fabulous actor overall? Absolutely! She was the comedic relief in my opinion. Besides, I like to imagine that the off singing fits her character as a FORMER and UNSUCCESSFUL singer. If you watched the movie to the very end, Cameron Diaz tries to sing tomorrow and everyone stares at her as if she's the worst singer ever. Her voice fits the character for THIS VERSION!!!
Thank you. Just explained that to a bigot above. People on here being close minded purists and I hate it. I hate purists. The purists need to shut the fuck up and let people enjoy this if they want to. I am tired of hearing" That's not are Annie" " They butchered the story and songs"' Why is Annie Black?" I will cuss out the next person who says that because they need to shut up. If hate this movie they need to get the fuck off this site and quite causing drama for those who like it. WFI the story and songs were not changed that much they were just updated some.
I grew up with the original Annie and so when I heard they were making a new one I was excited, I've watched and I personally like it; true the songs are different but it's modern for this generation. They did a good job so I don't know why people are hating on it.
Big Ben and the score also somehow feels overproduced; I can’t recall a quiet song in the movie, all of them have some kind of synth melody and a beat that works in some of them, but in other songs it overshadows the simplicity and the emotion of the lyrics and the singing, especially Tomorrow and Maybe
pls i’ve been saying this song slaps despite all the hate it gets for years and now tiktok is saying it’s good and it’s finally getting the hype it deserves
I think the tempo of this song and the emotion I see in the chorus makes this better than the original. definitely my favourite sequence from this movie.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS SONG IS GOING VIRAL ON TIKTOK!! I USED TO LOVE THIS SONG YEARS AGO AND ITS FINALY GETTING THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES AHHH. it’s sad that barely anyone knows what it’s from tho lol but it’s okay💀😭
I am currently obsessed with this song. I really enjoyed the new Annie but I also still like the original. I didn't know Cameron could actually carry a tune. The only thing I ever heard her sing in was My Best Friends wedding and her character in that sucked bad at singing lol.
I don’t get why this movie got so much hate??? Like it was the more modern version of the movie, if it was an exact copy of the 1982 film would it not be boring? The same thing with more technology and better quality video? If you like the original then that’s fine but there’s no need to bash the newer version because the songs were changed up. I personally prefer the 2014 version seeing as it was what I grew up with so the whole “The original Annie is better!” I don’t get since I didn’t grow up with it. If you like the old one go watch it instead of trashing this one because it’s “not your style”. Thank you for coming to my ted talk
@@gingersnapp114 Ofc their gonna autotune it, it's a song in a movie, they can't just have them sing without autotune and then release the movie. Obviously it's gonna get autotuned, so what you said isn't an excuse.
@@bubblerose3084 no but the auto tune is shite. Really it’s so over done to the point it does turn people off from the movie. I’m sure Annie had a beautiful voice but that much auto tune isn’t needed it just sounds winy, fake and robotic.
i 100% agree. i think this version is better and builds on the characters and their relationships more then the old. and it was the one i grew up with too. and the remakes of the songs are really well produced.
Even though I liked Carol Burnett's version better, I didn't mind this one. Cameron Diaz is playing a more gritty, unkempt version of Miss Hannigan, a less sympathetic role. Her version is a pathetic woman with broken dreams. And I feel she did a good job of portraying that here.
Cameron Diaz, dont listen to haters your a great singer and inspiration. When I was watching Annie I came to this song and I had to replay it a bunch of times, I didnt even finish the movie by the time we got to Busch gardens. You are amazing
I don't know why people expect the remake to be the exact same as the original. It's supposed to be a fresh, updated version; with a more modern twist. The old Annie film is great but I love the new one too. If you don't like the remake don't watch it, stick to the old one!
90s baby here (93) I totally agree with you! I think this has more of a better rhythm than the original and the 1982 version. No shade to any of those 2 movies because they are just as good, but I like this movie a lot more because it has more up beat of different songs.
Cameron Diaz is such a good actress and I mean she has a good voice in this song, so like...this is my fave version of Miss Hannigan because the over exaggerated movements are so funny yet also add emotion to the song and I absolutely love the song itself.
I'm watching it right now, and smiling, I don't care what anyone says, if they like the older versions that's up to them, if they like this new one, that's cool too, personally I love this one and the one with Carol Burnett. At times there are flaws in pretty much everything, but that's life, it's not a bed of roses without a few thorns. Your opinion is one crayon that you use to color your canvas of life. I'm happy with this, I think that Cameron did a good job, and it could always be worse. Yes, I have a super positive outlook, that's just how I am, I might be 4 foot 10 1/4 inches, but I can do big things to change my world, starting with spreading every ounce of positive I have. I don't think it's horrendous, it's got something special to it, different lyrics, yes, length is different, yes, but why just single out Cameron, she's just playing the part to the best she felt she could. Just leave it at "she tried her best" and move on, because she finished the movie, it's done, you don't have to watch it if you don't like it. Stay happy everyone :)
I heard “I’m not singing I’m asking” for the first time in years recently and knew I recognized it but didn’t remember where. I forgot how good this song was, especially since I was young when I would listen to my Annie CD on loop and wasn’t able to appreciate the songs that much. Nice trip down memory lane!
I saw scrolling through RU-vid shorts, and I heard it and I knew I heard it from somewhere, I used to watch Annie all the time, no wonder I found my way back to it.
I love the production of the song... The constant ha ha has of the girls in the background, and the chorus full of anger and frustration. A very accurate way to modernize the classic version.
