"Something was missing" was absolutely amazing. I like it more than any other version I've heard before. And man, was the choreo good. "Never fully dressed" had such good dancing, and bonus the dancers can sing. It's amazing that small parts like Star to Be were just as good as the leads. This was absolutely stunning. Bravo!
How is this just a high school doing this. These kids are amazing. The tap scene with the girls during never fully dressed was awesome. They all can sing and dance. By far the best high school play i've seen of this.
We took a ton of inspiration from this for our play, especially Orphan's Fully Dressed, the people liked that song the most. We had a kick line and everything. We really liked this performance so we used it for inspiration.
28:40 to 28:55 is the greatest moment in musical theatre history. The actress who played Hannigan was the star of this show and every show. Ever. To say the least.
Demosthenes Q. Drake Wow, thank you so much! I am the one portraying Hannigan in this video, and we all worked incredibly hard on this musical. That means so much to me.
I was exaggerating just a bit, of course, but I was not being sarcastic or ironic on any level. I truly enjoyed your performance in this. It was inspiring and electric. I found this bc I was rehearsing my parts for this show. I played guitar in a pit for this a month ago and needed to prepare for it. Your school's production not only helped, but made it quite the good time. Best of luck to you and stay true to your art. If you do, it will always stay true to you.
Hi Clare. Were you Velma in Hairspray? I was in the pit orchestra for a local production of Annie and listened to your High School's production over and over (it is a good mix of orchestra and vocals). I'm now in the pit for Hairspray and am again listening to Norwalk High School's version.
In my school, the first and second years have to use the stage in the cafeteria. And the third and fourth years get to use the auditorium for their plays.
We did Annie jr when I was in 8th grade (now I’m a sophomore), and I placed Grace Ferrell. I remember watching this production when I was researching for my audition, and today it came up in my recommended page. Ahhhh the memories.
Yeah Broadway is so ageist, like they can age people with prosthetics, we cast a 33 year old as a high schooler in the west end so let actors pkwy younger
I know it's been 8 years since this was done, but I just came across it tonight by chance on RU-vid. Wow! What a production! This is the best high school production of Annie I've ever seen. It rivals many regional theater productions. How did they manage to get so many incredibly talented singers in one high school? And that "Star To Be" was absolutely Broadway quality! I hope Broadway is where she ended up! And yes, you gotta love the "Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" choreography! Amazing job everyone!
Onwards NHS! The production values are absolutely amazing. The talent, both leading and supporting are tremendous. I am so happy to see NHS continuing its great tradition of musicals. Having played Daddy Warbucks at NHS in 1984, 30 years prior, I look back and can say it was a memorable experience. It was awesome. I hope it was for you too and you too, can carry your experience 30 years onward. All the best to the cast and crew.
Wow, Hard Knock Life dancing and singing literally sent chills up my spine! That was really it! That passion in their performance was something you see on Broadway!
Wow the overture! I've listened to the original 1974 bdway soundtrack overture a gazillion times. It's one of my faves! And For a high school this was an awesome job!!! Practically nailed it!
I love the choreography, my school is doing Annie and I'm Molly, we're using the choreography from hard knock life and it's soo cool! it looked even cooler watching this school do it
This just gave me a terrible idea... Annie, BUT THEY'RE ALL FURRIES "Towmowwow, towmowwow, I wuv ya, towmowwow... You'wre ownwy a day awaaaay~" **Ruffles fluffy tail** UωU
I play Rooster in my performance of Annie, but I also play Bert Healy, Frances Perkins, and Appleseller. JEEZ. If they post a youtube video of it, watch it or go to Van Nuys Middle school to watch it. After Covid-19 lets us back. So don't miss it.
wow! You guys have set the bar very high. (Never fully dressed without a smile tap routine was amazing) A great example for other theatre groups to watch and get inspiration. Well done Norwalk High.
This is the best Annie play I've seen by far. I'm doing the play this year so this helped me a lot!!!! I'm in the group with the homeless people, The sound effects person in the radio scene, the assistant dog catcher, and Hull (a dude from the president scene) it's a lot of work but I can do it!!!
This reminds me of when I was fourteen being in Annie. I didn't get a big part though. The only line I was given was all the sections that all the orphans cheered in and I wanted something bigger like a speaking part. I was also part of the chorus
Believe me or not, I’ve never watched Annie, and I wrote a book about a red head girl named Annie who runs away from the orphanage with her pet dog. Wth
