NPC Advantages: no requirements. burners (drifblim, arcanine) and intimidators (staraptor, arcanine, tauros) help. gardevoir (life dew, synchronize) is a double edged sword, as it can make it more difficult to activate the lansat berry if it uses life dew too often early on.
Strategy: rain dance (renewing whenever it expires), bulk up, focus energy. after your stats reset, bulk up. heal cheer if HP is low. 5x bulk up, charge tera orb with rage fist, terastalize, rage first to victory.
Notes: ability doesn't matter unless you decide to swap rest in for rain dance or focus energy, in which case the ability cannot be vital spirit. shell bell can be used to increase survability but it lowers the critical hit chance from 100% to 50% which means it's a coin toss whether the last few turns of the match will hit 0.5x or 1.5x. taunt can replace focus energy and free up the held item slot for a shell bell, but it can be tricky to ensure that you break the shield without overshooting it and activating the bulk ups on the same turn. if you have a shell bell, you don't need the HP EVs as much, so you can make up for the lack of guaranteed critical hits by moving some or all of those EVs to attack. there is no perfect build all these variations are good but have at least one flaw (in the case of this build it's the reliance on heal cheers or NPC gardevoir).
Pros: tera type matches base type, excellent HP and atk stats. good def stat. outspeeds emboar, resists head smash before terastalizing, rain dance halves damage from flare blitz and reduces the risk of burn (10% chance). bulk up buffs def 1 stage and atk 1 stage. rage first has a base power of 50 + (50 * number of times annihilape has been hit), maxing out at 300. It has 100 accuracy and deals STAB (tera-boosted when terastalized) damage. focus energy + razor claw produces 100% chance of critical hit, which ignores the +2 defense buff that emboar gets from using bulk up twice.
Cons: tera type not supereffective, relies on heal cheers and gardevoir exclusively for healing.
