On July 30th, 1945, Fletcher-class destroyer USS Cassin Young survived its second kamikaze strike in the Battle of Okinawa, making her the last destroyer struck by a kamikaze during the invasion of Okinawa. Although her crew suffered many casualties and the ship itself sustained serious damage, Cassin Young did not sink, a testament to the ingenuity and team work of her crew. USS Cassin Young is currently a museum ship in the Charlestown Navy Yard, part of Boston National Historical Park.
