Wow - she's gorgeous, he's handsome and can sing brilliantly, and yet this is so lovely - funny (I love how he purposely botches his english) - and yet classy at the same time. Just an unbelievable combination.
I love this episode! I liked getting an episode where Ricky messed up instead of Lucy, it gave the show a nice balance. And the ending is just gorgeous!
I've always liked this scene too. When ever my partner and I fight and makeup I think of this scene. Thank you for posting it, I really needed to see it!
I think Lucille Ball was one of the most beautiful ladies in show business. I love this sentimental scene. ( On a side note, isn't it funny that Lucy could dance beautifully during this scene but seemingly had no special talent in all the other episodes?). I know she and Desi were in love but Dezi had a roving eye. After all the years of him being involved with other women Lucille finally gave up and found contentment with another. But like another poster said, I don't believe she and Desi ever really stopped loving each other. They had shared a special passion. If only Desi could have been faithful to this lovely lady. It's a shame that they couldn't have remained together until death separated them.
+Rose B. this episode has to be my all time favorite the chemistry btwn these two as they danced across that floor and they she looked into his eyes....just pure deep love.....lucy could never get passed desi infidelity.....lucy always believed(like all women) she was lacking something that caused desi to stray...when in fact desi cheating had nothing to do with lucy and was just who desi was......while lucy finally divorced desi in 1960 and married gary morton a year later....she never stopped caring a torch for desi......there is clip of barbara interviewing lucy & gary and barbara asks lucy questions about her time with desi(which was very disrespectul to gary) if you watch n listen to this interview it was clear that lucy was still very much in-love with desi and resented him for thrown their love away....you cld tell that gary was becoming uncomfortable and intervened and changed the subject.....lucy & gary's marriage seemed more about convenience than love (lucy at times talked down to him on set and was dismissive of him and his feelings)...
@@hardren101 Actually, Gary Morton and Lucy had a good marriage that lasted for 28 years -within the year that Lucy first married Gary, she looked so much better, more relaxed and at peace. Also, when she and later Gary died, the family came across many many love letters that Lucy wrote to Gary. While Desi was the love of her life, Gary and she seemed content and respected each other.
I am afraid that Desi had serious addictions: booze, women, gambling. While both Lucy and his 2nd wife Edith loved him - he could not give those addictions up; Edie almost divorced him too.
It's interesting that Desi sent Lucy flowers on their anniversary at least 15 years after they divorced. When asked what Gary Morton, her current husband, thought about that, he said, Ï really don't care."
People comment that Lucy could dance in this episode - she danced wonderfully in Cuban Pete with Desi and brilliantly with Van Johnson in Dancing with the Stars. Remember Lucy was an actress, a dancer, a model before her I Love Lucy series. On the series she was sup to not be able to sing or dance. She sang okay in some movies and danced very well when called for.
Notice when ricky announce the anniversary, he mentions his anniversary which is wrong, he should say something like "tonight is our 15th anniversary. Ricky makes it sound like hes married to himself. My question is ricky really married to himself or to Lucy.
